  • Corners are one of the most difficult aspects of riding and one of the hardest techniques to get down properly. With a few tips you can be practicing solid technique that will have you tearing around those corners in no time. In this video, Aj Catanzaro from the Moto Academy and Wes head out to do some desert corner training as Wes hits some turns while Aj gives real-time training and points out some of the most common mistakes dirt bike riders make while cornering and some tips to help you correct them.

    Came to dirt bike life a little late, but even watching my riding buddies who have been at it for decades tells you that there's always something new you can learn.

    Flow - for me that's the ticket. I'm older (46) and if I can ride a track and pick up the flow, I can ride longer and have more fun. I take less of a beating, and the bike does too.

    +1 For the Moto Academy, I would recommend it to anyone at any level of riding. I was a member for 5 months(ish) before I even bought my first bike (that AJ helped me pick out) and the value I pulled from his livestreams, daily posts, Q&A, the Master class courses, Professional Nutritionist input- easily worth it and I've yet to even have my film critiqued 🤙

    One thing never cleared up: with both feet on pegs and "weighting the outside peg", are you meaning basically squatting and hovering over the seat so there is less load on the seat, or more like isometric by pushing down with your leg even when sitting?

    • @AjCatanzaro
      @AjCatanzaro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      70% of weight into outside peg, 30% of weight into butt when sitting. Is that what you’re asking?

    • @shelbyboer9416
      @shelbyboer9416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You push down with outside leg like your trying to stand up without standing up on the one leg basically. Sounds easy on paper though. More an odd feeling than anything.

  • @TRGP331
    @TRGP331 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Such a good video! I tend to weight my inside peg in these kind of turns, so I have started physically lifting my foot about 1/2" off the inside peg while still trying to squeeze the bike with my legs

    All riding advice is simple but not easy. The fact that all that intellectual information has to occur within a split second while the noise, motion, and forces affect you. Add natural inconsistency and riding at 30% speed sounds almost right to creat e a good habit with repetition. But, like doing scales on a piano, it can be monotonous.

    The key is to keep your elbows in, with both feet on the pegs, and drag your knee. This is why the corner speeds are so much higher in MotoGP.

    AJ your no Spleen sticker is really something to me, as a young boy 8 years old i Ruptured my Spleen twice, i could not ride my dirt bike, go to school, or my Martial Arts for one year/ 6 months each time, but after the very first 4 months of healing i went and got in a fight with my neighbor and it got Ruptured again! so another 6 months of NOTHING!
    I just got off my Dirt bike, and hopped on my pedal bike to meet the local kids at the swimming hole, it was at the bottom of a giant paved hill and i went over the handle bars at about 20-30 MPH down the hill and the bar jammed my stomach, i had to crawl home puking blood everywhere, ill never forget my mom running down the driveway to me.

    5:13 ''no reason to put your foot out''
    The way I understand it is that putting the
    foot out (not out-down, but out-forward) adds
    weight to the front end. shrugs...
    8:29 ''tore acl '' I bet, when that foot goes down
    to the ground at speed, ouch.. feels like it could

      You can work on your own tower and keep building it up until it’s the biggest,
      Or you can tear everyone else’s down to make yours the biggest.

      Hes very open about his pace and acknowledges that there are guys on another level. However, his technique is regarded as one of the best in the industry by many. Also, pace doesn't make you a good teacher. AJ is one of the best coaches and works incredibly hard for his riders, and does so much for the industry. He's so much more than a pro rider. Give him the respect he deserves
