    Thanks for sharing your trains and builds. I just discovered your channel today and watched about 10 video's. You deliver pure enjoyment and relaxation at the viewer end. Thanks a heap mate. Never had an interest in trains since my child hood kit wore out... Yeah I wore them out.. I'm out to the our states Train show next month now ( Queensland).. See what you've done... Seriously Thanks for the all your effort and good luck with the new build. The naming of Everard Junction strike a real chord with me.. Great Stuff!

    Cheers for the heads up Richard there ordered. I've just build my first helix this evening with the help of your videos I've chosen to take my layout down and rebuild as I've never been happy with it. Thx again for you info Ian

    Managed to purchase a hornby class 50 after seeing your review..just waiting for it to be delivered !..Seeing the HST reminded me of a courier job I had in the 80s..the brakes really stank when you had to stand inbetween carriages as there were no seats on a busy Friday evening from Kings Cross to Peterborough..! glad they dont do that in OO scale..!

    Really enjoyed this video. You have some great looking locos and stock. Just one point about the Class 150 - I did not think they were delivered in the 'Regional Railways' livery, but rather the 'Sprinter' livery, except for the original ones in the Provincial blue scheme.

    very good video,,I had a triang Hornby set as a kid in the UK never forget triying to change the brushes on the motor on them,,whot a job,must be they have changed that by now,,thanks for sharing.

    What a great loco fleet and very well detailed description. I too had the Hornby coupling issues you have mentioned with my class 50's when negotiating any curves, so I've tried them with Bachmann couplings and all seems fine. Overall, exceptional models and very well informed video, I like it very much.

    Any NSE coach is right to be honest. Many of the coaches never got painted out of the early blue. The best ones that match the loco are the bachmann mk2 coaches in the darker blue. I use kadee number 19s most of the time. Some buffers have been glued in the retracted postition to stop them catching.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @djjk26 The best kadees for normal running are the no.19s, you want to get the NEM type that just slot in.
    I wedge bits of card in the NEM pocket on the loco to adjust the height of the kadee if needed..

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thats correct. The sprinter scheme and the regional railways colours are very similar so I didn't notice at first.
    I might redo the decals at some point

  • @DTChapman1
    @DTChapman1 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There is a good reason why Hornby fit their couplings to the bodies of their loco's. They get loads of complaints from other modellers saying that fitting it to the bogie makes it unrealistic. I'm afraid it is going to have to be aggressive to disagree. It only hornby though who get that complaint. No one ever says anything about Bachmann doing it..

    • @StaxRail
      @StaxRail 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine people don't want to complain about Bachmann faults because they've paid quite a bit more than what a Hornby loco costs and are feeling rather disappointed!

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm aware of 31165, the issue with numbers (particularly Hornby) is that they are printed on and very difficult to get off without damaging the paint underneath. I try to avoid renumbering, if I need to do it I tend to re-spay the loco into a different livery to make it worthwhile.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool, the small white connectors heljan use for wireing can work themselves loose sometimes.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use 19s and haven't had too many issues. Some locos are the wrong height (mostly Hornby). They can be adjusted by packing card above or below the kadee.

    Very good response.I did not intend to take anything away from your efforts in fact I admire what you have done with your layout and locos. I often think how much more realistic layouts would appear having engineers and passengers in the locos.

    some nice subtle weathering there, very nice, regarding your coupling issues, I use kadees on the very same models, BUT i remove the n.e.m. socket and mountings totally, as they flex vertically too much for reliable use, I mount a strong pad to the body and fit a standard #5 kadee in it's box to the pad using a height gauge, apart from really tight curves (15" radi or less) and short radius points, I have no problems and some of my trains weight up to 3kg. Rich, R & M Quarries

    Virgin mk3 coaches can be found on ebay for ok prices. You should be able to find the coaches you need. A re-paint is possible, but I would not recommend it if you have never done anything like that before.

    Superb, nothing more to say. Well done and keep up the high standard.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    From memory the 58 body is just clipped on, best to wedge card down either side to loosen it off. Check the manual, it should tell you in there.
    The lights are correct for the loco. There is a high beam light on each side, on british locos one side is lit during the day, the other side is used at night. Above the high beam lights there are ordinary running lights on both sides, these are lit all the time.

  • @EasternRegionspotter
    @EasternRegionspotter 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I removed the fan belt in my 56's and 31's and they seen to work really well now. Hornby need to review the fan mechanism in the 56's and 31's because ive found you can get incredibly jerky running when the fans start to stutter.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    33002 was painted in that livery in 1989, so its perfect for the layout. It was then painted into dutch livery in 1991.

  • @OldSkoolGrandad
    @OldSkoolGrandad 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review of your fleet..watched it a few times....still very informative..Have to agree the Bachmann decoders they are very good,I use the 36-553 ,Even on a quite old Heljan class 47 (2004-2005) I bought it on Ebay about 3 weeks ago , only ever run on DC..put in a Bachmann 8 pin decoder...runs beautifully smooth ...even at a snails pace .

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Take the body off (should be 4 screws underneath for a 56). You should then be able to see part of the band in the fan mechanism. I just cut the band and threw it away. Running now much improved.

    Ballast is woodland scenics medium grey. For weathering I used an airbrush, watch my track weathering vid for more info. The embankment scenery is made using woodland scenic stuff, check out my scenery series for more info.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Rich, I have thought about it for some models as the nem pockets can have quite a bit of excess movement. At the moment it doesn't cause too much of an issue.

    @whimpey109 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Realy didn't notice at first it was about model railroads as the image was so realistic!! Good paintjob and good weathering!!! For me a bit of a dilemma weathering pricely locos which come beautifully painted out of the box but the result in your case is fantastic and gives a lot of realism on the layout! Overall I think the railroadcompanies need to dedicate themselves more on keeping their fleet nice and clean; which they are doing more nowadays! Thanks for making this nice review!!

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wedge card above or below the coupling in the pocket to adjust the height.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jacobporrett I'm sticking with the time period the layout is set in for now. The steam locos don't perform well on the helixes, but I may get another one.

  • @rowiab
    @rowiab 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There have been some reports of metal fatigue in both Heljan class 47's and Hornby class 31 chassis. The class 31 problems have only recently been recognised and Hornby are replacing the affected ones. I have 3 hornby class 31's and 2 Heljanclass 47's. The last time I looked they were ok. If you want to research the chassis fatigue further simply search google. There are plenty of reports to be found.

  • @EverardJunction

    I use a dry paint brush the brush the ballast up between the track. Then I glue it in place.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Check the back to back wheel measurements on the model, this can cause a lot of derailments if it's out. Also check the bogie can pivot freely, if something is snagging the wheel will jump the rail. As for the detailing coming off just glue it back on. I've had to on a few of my locos.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have any 66s as they don't fit the era I model. The kadees I use are a mix of no. 18s and 19s. The 108 and 105 will require 2 decoders for dcc.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I explain the first 3 in this video. As for the 67 are you referring to the newly tooled one or the older model they used to make?

  • @EverardJunction

    I only have kadees fitted to the first wagon in the rake at the moment. I use number 19s.

    Thanks, models have has much better 'sealed' motors now. I was a pain with the old types, I used to have an engine with brushes that fell out on every corner. I gave up with that one in the end.

  • @EverardJunction

    A good way to get into dcc is to buy a dcc set. Bachmann and Hornby make a few.

  • @nordenstation
    @nordenstation 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cracking video, I am looking forward to the weatering video because your weathering is top class, you should start a weathering company to fund your railway and give grimy times abit of competition lol and Brilliant fleet of diesels.... Have you ever had a problem with Horby diesels shorting out over points?

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bachmann do not supply the train sound ready. You would have to get a dcc sound kit for it.

  • @DeanPark
    @DeanPark 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thats a great (and ever growing) fleet you have there! I agree with what your saying about the HST...I am DESPERATE for Hornby to launch that livery again with MK3 coaches. It Swallow livery is the best livery the HST has ever worn! Did you buy all of your locos and rolling stock in the last two years? Is that how old your layout is? How many years have you been into model layouts?

  • @RoundelRailways

    I've just finished the planning of my layout, just in the process of getting the baseboard built and in place. In your opinion what are the better loco's Bachmann or Hornby as I am wanting to expand my fleet of locos / sets. I've noticed some of Bachmann's scenery / trackside is better detail than the Hornby stuff.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks mate. I might get one sound loco some day, but to be honest I don't think much of it. The standard sound systems really lack the deep bass and rumble you get from a real loco. Re-blown sound systems from specialists are much better, but very expensive.

    Hello. I have to say ive been watching your videos for awhile now, and yourself and a couple of others I watch have inspired me to have a go at making up my own layout and also join my local model rail club. Thank you for making such awesome videos and sharing your knowledge with us. With that in mind i do have a question for you. I own a few Bachmann class 47s, One imperticuler seems to have a lower coupler setting to all the others, this becomes apparent when i use it with coaches and wagons.

    Continuing to watch the video, on the Class 150 I'm not sure you know the prototype.
    Regional Railways livery wasn't applied until 1991, and not on 150s until 1993.
    150's were built in 'Provincial' livery (like the 156s were bult in), which used the same tan colour as InterCity for the lower grey band. The blue striped didn't reach the yellow ends either.
    The Bachmann model is dated post-2000 with the modern overhead flashes and solid end doors.

  • @EverardJunction
    @EverardJunction  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    N gauge and OO gauge are completely different. N gauge is about half the size of OO. Everything you see on my layout is OO scale.
