I would like to say THANK YOU sooooo much MEDICOSIS ❤.. Yesterday I finished my final exam in Medicine and your videos help me to solve most of the questions in the exam 🌸🌠 .. THANKS A LOT 💕
I can't be more impressed by you, Dr.Medicosis, I've been a fan of your work for more than 3 years and I'm sharing your videos everytime I get the chance to be honest. However I have one question: how come you know all these information and can explain so clearly? Did you see them in your clerkship or rotations or is only from understanding textbooks? I'm really curious. Either ways, I'm so amazed by the job. You're wonderful, keep it up and may you be rewarded in this life and the other!
I believe that there is a slight difference between the protocol of immunofixation electrophoresis & immunoelectrophoresis. However, in this video, they are considered the same thing. Is that my misunderstanding?
Hello, thank you for such a well narrated video. I have a doubt..When we do a Serum/urine protein electrophoresis for a patient, the M spike we obtain for gamma globulin, does that spike comprise of only intact immunoglobulins? Or does it quantitate both intact immunoglobulin + any free light/heavy chain because the latter are also gamma-globulin?
How do you know that the area under the spike isn't compromised of "normal" (in range) immunoglobulins? How do you differentiate between normal/healthy/in-range Ig's and the monoclonal type. Confusing.
Great video however I got confused and could please please someone explain when immunofixation is carried out,is anti- A the antigen, right? So why does it say add antibodies to antigen ? Can someone clarify this one for me ??Isn't antibody binding to another antibody that is specific to it?
Sir, my Total Protein value is 82. My serum albumin is always normal, but it is low on Electrophoresis. Which one should I trust? I also have iron deficiency. Beta 1 was 10.2, the upper limit was 4.8. Beta 2 zone is very good, moderate and also Age 28 male, IgA: 2.07. (0.7-4) - IgM: 0.64 (0.4-2.3) - IgG: 14.35 (7-16) and SPEP Gamma region: 19 (10.6-19.2) and " "No monoclonal bands were found in the immunofixations." Do I have a problem? Is Gamma at the upper limit and IgG near the upper limit? Moreover, there is a sFLC Total fee and there is no problem, sir, what could be the reason? Alpha 1 was also at the upper limit.
I noticed that in the IFE Immunofixation test that IGE and IGD are not not tested, just IGG, IGA and IGD are tested only. If someone with a high Monoclonal IGE or IGD, this Immunofixation test would come back to the patient and Doctor stating no paraprotein found. Do all Immunofixation test for the the complete panel of Immunoglubins? or do they just test for IGG, IGA and IGM only?
This video is helpful. Can you help me? My gastroenterologist ordered SPEP due to high globulin levels. My gamma globs are high but result says no M protein present. I do not have any Ige, IGD etc data in my results. Does this mean I may have to wait for immunofixation portion of the test??
My doctor has requested I get my Immunoglobulins and Serum Electrophoresis checked. Are these the same thing or are they 2 separate tests? I can’t seem to find the answer online. My immunoglobulin come back ‘normal’ but I haven’t had the serum one back. I wasn’t sure if they are separate or not?
Hi, HRU? I ve checked ur list but I didn't find videos about hemapharesis(plasmapharesis and cytapharesis) And heamatopoietic stem cell transplant Thank you
😊😊 Actually I used to hear ur videos, write with u and then study my notes, today I am trying to finish hematology but I didn't find these videos, I ll be happy if u explained them but I don't want to overload you. Thank you
I am not a medical student or in such field......i really wanna ask you something...i do not have any bone pain my cretanin levels are good...but i got a m band in gamma region with a concentration of .86g/dl ....i dont have any symptoms whatsoever...but i do have protein discharge in urine.....what do you think ..can it be myeloma? I would really appriciate your take ...my reports of bone marrow dont come till next week....so just wanted your view on this
Did you do extra tests to establish the type of the immunoglobuline (e.g. IgE, IgG, IgM,...etc)?! Also, how old are you? What’s the calcium level in the blood? How much protein is in the urine? What are the results of your complete blood count (CBC)?!

Hi, I want to ask when gamma globulin is 17.5 g/l (ref: 6-16 g/l) means a person has multiple myeloma?
Not necessarily!
There are criteria to diagnose multiple myeloma. Please talk to a doctor with experience.
Excellent bro ..thanks a lot

It’s for students.

yes we only got test for igG IgA and igM because high monoclonal igE or igD is extremely rare
What about Ig D and Ig E? we don't need to run on immunofixation?
