Hey, I used to hear that low platelets could cause irritable skin and more pain; however I have been actively told by one out of 4 hematologists that I’m making that up entirely.
      Is it a real thing?

Having ITP really sucks. I’m 14 and was diagnosed at age 7, so I’ve had it about half my life. This was an amazing description, I couldn’t have done it better! I showed it to my friend when she just wouldn’t understand and it got to her. Thanks!

I’m a 64 y.o. F chronic ITP x 5 yrs and this was such a fun lecture! Yesterday my plates were 50. I’ve got bruises, bleeding scratches from scratching an itch and my tongue is swollen and purple and has 3 or 4 big painful sores each side. The inside of my lips are purple and it looks like I’ve been drinking purple kool aid. Anyway, I dyed a purple streak in my gray hair for fun today.

Thank you for this explanation. I’ve had this for about 3 years and the doctors at the VA check my platelet count every few weeks. No talk of a cure or effective treatment besides steroids or a transfusion if they drop below 10k. Is there any way to improve immune TARGETING? A way to get the macrophages to stop eating the platelets long term without compromising immunity?
