I just finished 25days holiday in China 3 days ago. What a wonderful trip! After about 4 years, I see a lot of progress in China. Much more EV cars, buses on street, more new intelligent equipments used in public daily life. Very low inflation, everything is coming back to normal. Nice parks( all free), friendly people, fantastic food, wonderful transportations, very safe everywhere. I had a very wonderful trip there. Will visit again in year end school holiday time!

The way WeiFong put the meat and veggies onto the lettuce is very much like how the Koreans do it in the BBQ restaurants in the USA. The Korean have many types of sauce you can add for different flavors.

Recently I found that a brown tie-dye t-shirt can hide most little food mishaps.
Cheaper to get a new t-shirt than to buy some dyes, saves a lot of work too. 😂
Traditionally wrap with lettuce. Lettuce in cantonese is "sang choi". "Sang" means live or lively, to be bestowed with living a lively live. Its a must in chinese new year family reunion dinner.

Maybe you could ask to include some Western items at your family BBQs. Steaks and sweet corn on the cob might be a hit. Would the Chinese like cheeseburgers?
Could be that it's about heritage and culture that their Chinese style of food brings a feeling of tradition, as this is something they do once a quarter.
Maybe next time you have BBQ at your backyard toast some Chinese dried squids, these may a big hit. 😂

Chinese kabob is a skewered meat, veggie, which are seasoned with spices. The kabob is slowly bbq over charcoal.

Koreans probably learned barbecue from Mongolians.
I've seen many baked potato and baked sweet potato in China. Over the fire, peel the burnt skin and eat. Seen more in the north and west of China. Cold weather food.

While visiting China in 2017, my wife felt oppressed coz I fed her a bbq octopus (or squid???), and as an act of vengeance, she made me eat a skewer of fried scorpions! We still get a laugh from looking at the pix...
