    Did mine over open fire using Hickory using a rotisserie on the Gabby’s grill, came our awesome. Created an incredible crust with the flames just touching the meat for most of the cook. You should get a Meater thermometer, wireless and perfect for rotisserie. It worked great, gives you the internal temp, the ambient temp in the BBQ right at the meat and gives you a time remaining to finish temp in the app including the rest time needed.

    How do you get the coals to last so long? Whenever I use my charcoal grill the coals are pretty much gone within an hour or so

    • @DskiGrillz
      @DskiGrillz  ปีที่แล้ว

      The key is to keep your intake and exhaust dialed in and around 350. What really make you successful is having your basket about 3/4 full with unlit coals then add your lit coals. You immediately set yourself up for a longer low and slow style burn. You will have to add a few more coals but only after around two hours. Hope this helps. Take care.

    • @DskiGrillz

      The only real advantage with having a lid is heat retention and fuel conservation. You will also realize better smoke flavor as well. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays.

    • @DskiGrillz

    This is what I'm going to try for Christmas this year, however, I just start using a rotisserie and most recipes want to keep the grill around 225 - 250, but I notice you said your temp was around 400, was that a mistake or is 400 the right temp? Thanks My Man.

    • @DskiGrillz
      @DskiGrillz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carle, That was the temp I was cooking at based on the thermometer reading. I would recommend cooking the roast at around 325 to 350 to ensure all of the fat renders and the meat is extra juicy and tender. Thanks for checking out the video.

    • @boostedmaniac
      @boostedmaniac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’d cook it at 225-250 like you mentioned. That’s what I have used in the past with great results. Lower is better in my opinion because you’ll have a greater chance to getting edge to edge redness assuming you’re going for medium rare or medium.

    Glad to see you cutting the garlic before stuffing it in the roast. Most people just shove it in whole. I feel that the garlic infuses better when you cut it at least in half. I get my ribeye roast/steak at my local staterbros store 4.99 a pound. The steak was 9.99 a pound. So I bought a 2.63 roast and used it as a steak. It was awesome tender and juicy. I was wondering if you have a problem with the rotisserie sealing I did and had to be creative and seal it myself to keep the temp under control 🤔

    • @DskiGrillz
      @DskiGrillz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul. I agree that cutting the garlic is the way to go. It releases the natural flavor of the garlic much better that way. I didn’t see the problem with sealing while using the rotisserie. This is a new one for me. Happy holidays and thanks for checking out the video.
