Great video. My husband always gets comments from his work colleagues assuming that we must have a lot of money because we want to use the Montessori approach. I think it’s because the majority of people don’t realise that Montessori is simply a mindset, rather than having all these bells and whistles attached. Yes it’s nice to have some good quality toys, but we can just as easily recreate them at home with cardboard boxes, crafting supplies, etc. I think if more people knew what Montessori was, and used their own supplies, all these toy companies would have to reduce the prices of their products.
Do i have kids? No. Do i find this fascinating? YES. This is kinda what i would make for myself when i was a kid. This is awesome and soooo cool to reuse ur everyday stuff for ur kids :)
I don't have kiddos and while I may adopt one day, I'm not having any biologically for multiple reasons. Oddly enough, and despite the fact that I'm not a mama, I really enjoy watching your videos and am always struck by how lucky your daughters are to have you as a mom! It's great that you're helping other parents as well. The world needs all the good parents it can get :-)
I remember watching this video with curiosity but little motivation a few years ago, just out of fun, because I simply loved this channel. I can't believe I'm back to it now, to get DIY ideas for my 9month daughter ❤ love you Ashley! 😘
I wish I had started looking all this stuff up before having kids! I'm learning now and putting things together but if I could do it over I would have had all these activities planned and ready to go for my children.
This is truly the best video I’ve seen on fun yet educational and inexpensive things to do with a baby/toddler. I’m a new nanny and this is so helpful! I can’t wait to do all these things with my little boy!
You are definitely right about the age when we are talking about toys. It's true and I have an example with my boyfriend who built things and figures of Lego made for older kids at the age of 10- 12 when he was much younger. He created things with Lego with his own fantasy like an electric "foam machine"
I get excited watching these. Now I can better prepare for my next child. I have a daughter that is 7 now and she went to a Montessori school at 20 months old. It really helps her develop a stronger sense of self
Yeah it blows my mind how pricey Montessori toys/tools are! Maria Montessori started her child learning house for poor children. It was not intended to be only for rich kids, but today only wealthy families can send their kids to those school or afford the materials.
@@HapaFamily it’s called Disneyland haha Walt made it for families and the greedy men took over and have officially made it unaffordable. Thank you for these videos! God bless you momma!
FANTASTIC ASHLEY!! I've been doing 80% of these without knowing that it was Montessori related. Thanks for sharing all the info and your life... if I could👍🏻more than once, I would do it 100 times! 😁
I just found your channel and I love your ideas! I’m a sixty-two years old grandmother of four but I volunteer in my church’s nursery. I get so tired of the same old toys they have. They love handmade activities. (A Christmas tree with Velcro ornaments made from old cards)Now you’ve given me some fresh ideas that are so cost effective! And it’s fine if they don’t last, unlike a pricey toy that breaks. Thank you!
The wipe box thing is also fun for a child who wants to imitate mommy or daddy taking care of a baby sibling. S/he can take wipes for his/her own "baby". A coffee cup and straw makes a pretty good toy as well. I can even see how some of those cards can work well for older kids. Say you have a card with pictures of soap, a toilet, and a towel. They can put them in order: First you go potty, then you wash your hands with soap, and finally you dry your hands with a towel. Over time, you can add more cards and make it more complex. I'm all for finding materials that grow with your child.
This is so helpful my 2 year old daughter loves arts and crafts and learning numbers and colours I'm running put of ideas to keep her occupied while in lockdown I'm definitely going to try these out
I love Montessori I am not a Mum but have worked in the child care industry for many years and have always loved toys that yo can make with children. Thank you so much for your tips . I have used a variety of different language cards over the years an one of the one that has gone down well with older children is picture of professions yo can use these for snap cards or lotto cards and the children love you can use anything from animals to kitchen things or whatever, as an extra game you can use them for a memory game as well.
Thank you for this video!!! I have been struggling to find affordable toys for my 14 month old that will help develop his fine motor skills. He has a dev delay and I often don’t know what will help him or what he can do. These ideas will be so fun to try with him!
Hi I am also a montessori mom of two (boys 2&4yo). When I enjoy looking through your videos, I feel like we both have similar taste and thoughts!!Just like you, I am passionate about motherhood and Montessori education, too!
This was so helpful and informative! I'm a new mama and have a 7 month old and was running out of ideas for activities and learning. I have turned my day in to a craft day and excited for my daughter to wake up from her nap to play with what I have created using your video. :) thank you!
This is the first channel that I’ve seen someone making toys for kids thank you it costs a lot to buy all the toys exspecially when you can make them and I’m still learning what things I can do with my little man so this is really helpful thank you ❤️
I am a mom of 6 week old baby 👶.... I so glad that I ended up watching videos on your channel... I am going to definitely try all your tips and tricks to engage my child ... lots of love to you from india 🇮🇳
Wow brilliant ideas. Immediately after watch this i tried rice bottle one and my 1 year daughter got so amazed and started playing. Rest of the Items i don’t have now. But will definitely try later to make the other ones also. Thank you.
Omg thank you so much. My 17 month old girl is starting to get into everything!! I feel like sometimes she gets bored of playing with the same old thing. But i will definitely be making pretty much ALL of these examples lol. Mom life!! ❤ 👍
Absolutely loving this series ❤ I have a 21 month old baby girl and I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant too and I'm finding your channel so much relatable and awesome to watch!! 💞 thank you!
Hi Ashley I loved this video. Yours is the first of the montessori videos I’ve watched so far which stays true to the “most of the raw materials you can find at home” concept. All the ideas are simple and easy and sound like they’ve come from real kids (or maybe my child is a lot like yours are 😂) AND you’ve hit the nail on the head about avoiding mess in the activities put out. I want to let my kid make a mess, but not EVERY SINGLE DAY!
You're an amazing amazing mom. Hats off to you for the amount of effort & energy you're putting in. I'm inspired. I have a 16 months old baby girl and I'm trying my best to raise her on similar patterns of excellence.
My son is 15 months and he loves every single activity you have mentioned this is a must loved it 🙏 thanks will get crafty and have funnn🎉 ❤loved I can across your video 😊
This is amazing! Love how most of these are free and I feel better about reusing containers I would normally trash. I've been stashing a lot of containers knowing I could use them to make activities and toys for my daughter. I've used a yogurt container as a ball post but then she kinda destroyed it and I wasn't inspired to DIY anymore. Now I'm so excited to try out all of your ideas. Thank you!
Thank you so much my mother has some anger issues and resolves to hitting and even hits my dad when they fights so now my younger brother is very violent so I wanna raise him right thank you
Thank you soooo much, My daughter is 16 month, didn’t thought the things that you showed could become toys for her!! I’ll began my craft tomorrow ❤️ thanks!!!
I just made my own popsicle game today with a shoe box and my 20m-old daughter LOVES it! She mastered it in no time and enjoys putting in all the sticks I've given her and then opening the box to take them out and do it all over again. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
You are a genius I was looking at Montessori videos to get last minute ideas of what to buy for my 10 month old son for Christmas I honestly would have probably went to toys r us and spent hundreds of dollars (we still have TOys r us in Canada) I love so many of the ideas you’ve come up with!!! I love the object permanence box, wallet idea, the tin can for the cards and the popsicle stick, and the classification cards and the pics of family members ...
My daughter is 4 month old today. I came across your channel couple weeks ago about Baby Led Weaning method. Im so glad I have found you and learn about Montessori. I wish I found you 6 months ago before I bought the crib and did my nursery. She ends up nothing wanting to sleep in her crib. I love floor bed idea and will switch over soon
This is fantastic! I'm due my little one in June and my sister has recommended this channel and I'm really excited to get making these toys and learning more about Montessori :-)
Hi! Thank you for making this video. I really wanted to try Montessori at home to my 1 year old baby but its true that Montessori toys are quite expensive. I love how you DIY your baby's toys.
Home daycare-establishing Montessori base- Where do you find the right animals to match the animal cards? to make them the same as in your video. I also like how you made the boxes/balls and slots...great ideas!

Lots of great ideas! I taught Montessori for a number of years but now have a 2.5 year old and a baby due any day and these inspired me to make some DIY stuff for him to do when baby arrives, thank you!!
You are so welcome!!! Congrats on baby #2... we just had our 2nd baby girl one month ago! I’ll be posting a new Montessori for newborns video this weekend, so stay tuned! :)

It's more expensive to get natural materials and craft them into meaningful toys. Plastic and lights are incredibly cheap and easy to mold. You could even make an activity of painting the shaker containers. That way if you’re using a container that they’re familiar with, they don’t confuse it with the food or object they usually associate the container with
Thank you for this video! Ive been looking for activities to do with my kids but does not cost too much, im lucky to have found this video! God bless your heart
I remember watching these 4 years ago without a child. Now I have a 1 year old and I always come back to your videos 💜
Same here!! 😂❤️

You make me Wana be a better mother... Thank you
You are already a great mom
@Ella rose you're 8??
@Ella rose bro, you're pretty intelligent for a 9 year old, but if you're just pranking me then im dead
I love DIYing. The children learn better when we customize their work.
Totally agree!! 😊 Thanks for watching!!
Love the tissue box and object permanence! Thank you!
I remember watching this video with curiosity but little motivation a few years ago, just out of fun, because I simply loved this channel. I can't believe I'm back to it now, to get DIY ideas for my 9month daughter ❤ love you Ashley! 😘
I’m watching these for my 9 month old too 😂❤
🔥🔥🔥 As a new parent this is a game changer for my wife and I. You’re awesome, appreciate you!
when they master the popsicle stick one you could color the sticks /holes so its also a color sorting game
That’s an excellent idea!! 😊
That sounds awesome :D
You are an absolute genius. If I ever have kids I feel like it will be so much easier and more manageable

Exactly how i feel about it Sande
Actually they are the same price as normal toys but hard to find
Teacher here, and some of these activites are really helpful. Creative and affordable, right up my alley.
I love your videos. I am in my 60s and taking care of 15 mo old. this has been a pleasant education for me. thank you for your time and experience
Quarantined with a 6 month old is a challenge, this video is a lifesaver! Thanks for such simple ideas that I'm sure my baby is going to love!
FANTASTIC ASHLEY!! I've been doing 80% of these without knowing that it was Montessori related. Thanks for sharing all the info and your life... if I could👍🏻more than once, I would do it 100 times! 😁
You’re so sweet! :)
Great video! I am a day care educator and I love to add some Montessori activities in my class especially for the special needs kids!
As you were showing every single toy, I chuckled to myself and thought about how I might have more fun with it than my kid would haha
🤣🤣🤣 same and I have no kids

These are incredible ideas! I love DIYing baby toys and saving money in practical ways.
As a fellow homeschooler, you are a natural! These are all excellent -thank you for sharing.
Useful activities in the development of cognitive and physical development. Love your videos
Hi! Thank you for making this video. I really wanted to try Montessori at home to my 1 year old baby but its true that Montessori toys are quite expensive. I love how you DIY your baby's toys.
Some of our DIY toys were her absolute favorites! So it just goes to show that expensive isn’t always the best! :) Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for your help. You don’t know how much you’re appreciated. 💖
These ideas are amazing and so much more cost effective!!
Home daycare-establishing Montessori base-
Where do you find the right animals to match the animal cards? to make them the same as in your video. I also like how you made the boxes/balls and slots...great ideas!
These are such great, cost-effective ideas. Thanks so much for sharing! Really excited to try them out with my 8 month old.
This is so helpful to me. I was watching your baby led weaning videos.I have an 9 month old and wanted to do a mix of pureed and solid foods. After a while I came across this and I was so happy with all the simple/budget friendly ideas you give. I have a six year old deaf daughter who has had a bit of a delay in learning so these will be very good for her! I waa running out of ways to learn her new things because for a deaf person everything is very visual. Thank you sooo sooo much❤🤗
I love this video too! Also there is a program from Can do kiddo (a legit feeding specialist rather than someone who has only personal experience) the program is called Food Before One. I just watched it and it teaches how to do a mix of pureed and solid foods and how to safely transition into solids. It was super educational because its like a course it's not free but It's totally worth it you may want to look into it.
I’m expecting next month and I can’t believe how expensive toys are (and most of them are just plastic and big). I started watching your videos and I am starting to get interested in Montessori-style child rearing. Thank you for these diy toy ideas.
I'm learning so much from you , you are a wonderful mom.
Thanks so much, Jack!
This is amazing I have been STRUGGLING to bond and play with baby due to attention span, but these are going to really help. I wish there were lessons that were mandatory while pregnant to teach how to play and interact and teach our children! Thank you again!
Finally something original and helpful. Thank a lot, will safe this video and will subscribe :)
God bless you for everything that you showed ❤️
You are very welcome. :) I believe Montessori-style learning should be accessible to everyone!
I really appreciate your efforts as I actually like all of the activities you have shown. so thumbs up
Oh my goodness I love the sensory food bags! I'm like Ezra plays with one, Mama plays with the other, we have hours of fun 😂 sensory anything is so much fun! I am loving this series Ashely, it's SO helpful. I'd never even heard of this until you so thank you again for doing this. A lot of the sensory toys you can probably do now with him, too! He’s definitely at a good age for a lot of it! 👍🏻
This was extremely helpful, I learned so much
This video is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much! I want to implement Montessori toys and learning with my 12 month old and I've been wanting to make homemade toys for him and the ones you showed are so cute!
Thanks like what I used to teach in my day caretraining classes
Thank you for this information. Let's put it into practice for our special child 🙏🙏🇹🇷

These are fantastic ideas for my students with autism! Thank you x
This is awesome. I am a Special education teacher and I’ll be using some of these in my classroom 😊 thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! :)

Just made a sensory bag for my niece I'm babysitting today with googly eyes and green aloe gel! Thanks!
Such wonderful ideas. Thank you for the video! I have 11 month old twins and I'll certainly try some of these for them.
Girl, why did I not see this until after I bought a few of those toys!? I'll be making the others though. You're a god sent 😁❤
I love it. I have done some of those, but I learned more today
Thank you so much for your videos.
It's very helpful and the materials are easy to find.
You are amazing! That activity with the family pictures is just like 🥰😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
You could even make an activity of painting the shaker containers. That way if you’re using a container that they’re familiar with, they don’t confuse it with the food or object they usually associate the container with
Great! Great video! I learned sooo much! Thank you!
Thank you for this video! Ive been looking for activities to do with my kids but does not cost too much, im lucky to have found this video! God bless your heart
