Another really helpful video!!I’m a 60 year old grandma who watches her 2 year old granddaughter. You have helped me so much. I have used you as a resource since I started having her full time a few months ago and I’m so grateful for all your information. So sorry for the sudden loss of your dad. Feel your loss and walk through each stage of grief. It’s necessary to heal.
I love listening you talking. You are an excellent talker I am a mom of a 9 months old little boy. Your videos helped me to get to know how to put Montessori philosophy in practice. I am happy I found your channel!
This is perfect! My partner and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years, and I was JUST thinking about the fact that once we do, I'll want to stock up on a few play items! By the way, if you ever make a Montessori-friendly baby registry video, I'd be all for it!! ♡
Great video! A lot of toys I didn’t know existed. My boy is fascinated by sorting items. We used to have flashy toys but I got rid of them because he’s not gravitated towards them at all which surprised me at first because it’s what everyone has. Once I started searching for sorting toys and building which is what he gravitates towards, I found the motesorri method. He’s almost two. If he figures out a toy pretty easy, he gets uninterested pretty quick. If he struggles to understand, he’s very intrigued which is a little frustrating for him as well because he tries to do things out of his age range but I encourage him and teach him as much as I can. I wonder if me and my husband being engineers has influenced without knowing how we go about doings. It’s amazing what kids pick up from us. I think the most important thing is for us to be a good influence.
Recently I gifted the balance board to a cousin's 12 month old, active baby and he loved it! One tip for gift giving: give the parents an option of a researched gift or an Amazon gift card, tell them that you'd never want to add clutter to their lives and ask them to choose. Or ask if their child needs anything. It might not be as fun but the parents will greatly appreciate it.
I just wanted to thank you for such great information.. I discover you channel a week ago and I can’t stop watching every single video.. I bought the Montessori toddler book and I have a one year daughter. I can’t wait to star this awesome journey with her. THANK YOU
Ashley I love your videos so much!!! Im a paediatrician and I love the Montessori,- you organise information so well, really enjoy watching you guys ❤️❤️❤️
Would you do a video on how to handle the incoming gifts from family that don’t follow Montessori practices? We have a hard time with family buying the latest and brightest boldest toys for our toddler, do you have any tips on how to guide that conversation without hurting feelings?
kelly Armijo yes I would like to know this too I’ve been trying for 3 years now without luck, MIL even wants to buy my 3 year old a ‘proper’ bed even though I keep explaining its a choice not because we can’t afford 1 🤦🏼♀️
Not sure that I have enough advice to offer that I could make a video out of it, so here are several options: - make a wishlist and share it with friends/family (maybe share an article or two to help educate them about Montessori so they better understand why) - ask for themed gifts (like all books or puzzles) - ask if they would like to contribute to gifting an experience (like zoo tickets) instead of toys
My personal belief is that education is always the best route… So perhaps sending some short articles or videos to these family members to help them understand your choices! :)
I'm dealing with the same generous and well meaning, but uninformed family members. Thankfully my daughter is still very young, and the types of toys that can be bought are still rather limited right now. But for Christmas I'm planning on sending Amazon lists to those who use it, as either inspiration or something they can pick and choose from. For those who do not use online resources, I may have a similar printout or list, along with a short explanation of why we don't want certain toys or what to look for in a toy etc. To one of my family members who just wasn't getting it, I brought up the topic in a non offensive way; describing how as a kid I always had an overabundance of toys that I never played with, and that my parents had unfortunately wasted money on such items. She could relate to feeling like she had wasted her money on certain toys for her kids too. I then described what I did like to play with (which happened to be items that would be considered Montessori friendly). That way I wasn't telling her to buy or not buy certain gifts, but she had the idea subtly implied that certain gifts might be a "waste of money" as they likely wouldn't be played with very much. No one wants that! This approach seemed to work far better than a list of do's and don'ts, and didn't result in any feelings getting hurt either 😊
@@melaniewilson8508 we've received bed frames as "gifts" and we thank the grandparent and then store them in the basement until they're grown out of their floor bed.

Thank you for sharing Ashley!! This is the perfect most comprehensive gift guide I've came across. Definitely helpful as I am looking out for Christmas gifts now. :)
So happy to see you again. Your videos breathe so much inspiration into me, I can't thank you enough, I can see how much time and effort you invest into these and I pray that you receive overwhelming positive response for them. Based on the comments, I can see this is true! xxx

Thank you so much for this video. I wanted to create a list for family and friends on what to get my baby girl for Christmas and I was completely lost on what to add to that list, now I have a good idea of what to add.
You have perfect timing. My husbands mom has been asking us for ideas for Christmas gifts so this is very helpful. I love the amazon lists in the description box bc it made it very easy to find everything.
As a home Childcare Provider for 30+ years- I think the Montessori method is useful/ but not 100% required. There are “modern” toys available that are equally beneficial and educational. ***Example- Handheld, Disney music themed karaoke machine. Kids can sing with words/music into microphone- So good for motor skills- they need to push button while speaking/singing AND great for verbal skills and word recognition/memory. ***also, I used to buy plastic pumpkins around Halloween, and make 6 or 8 colorfully printed beanbags, for kids to toss. Another idea- make visual aids corresponding to a book. For the book MOUSE COUNT, I made a paper mache rock, bought 10 Small mice in the cat toy section of store, and bought a plastic snake. Kids LOVED acting out this story :)
thank you for all the helpful advice. I came across another vid of yours in July when u hit 10k subscribers. only 3 months later and you're nearly at 72k

Well you certainly don’t * need * them all, haha! This was meant to be more of an “all of the possibilities” list. 😊 I would really focus on what your child’s current level of developmental ability is, and try to pick and choose just a few items that match those abilities most closely while providing a small amount of challenge that they can work up to. 👍🏻 And if you go into my Montessori at Home playlist, you’ll see a video on shelf rotation that explains exactly what I do with her toys in the background. 💕 Hope that helps!

Hi! Thanks for these videos! I was wondering...it seems like having things out and reachable for the child is a Montessori principle. We don't have space for a playroom in our home. Do you have any advice for storing toys both for play and the extras for rotation in a small space? Also, how do you keep the room from getting super messy? Or is that part of the process?
You 100% don’t need a playroom to do Montessori at home. Just try to carve out a few shelves or windowsills or low tables among your other things, say in the living room or the bedroom, for displaying some of their toys/activities. A little basket for a small selection of books works great! And for storage - less is more for smaller spaces. Maybe a couple of under-the-bed plastic storage boxes (if you have room for those), or maybe a high shelf in your closet, or even try to empty out a drawer in your dresser if you have one to store things that are out of rotation. It’s all about being creative with the space you have! 💕👍🏻 As for the mess, you can teach and model putting things away after they’re done using them, but it takes lot of patience, consistency, and practice. Even my 2 year old struggles with this part. Hang in there!

I think I mentioned all of these items in the video! :) and I’m planning to get Kylie a wobble board (sane thing as a balance board) for Christmas.
Also, we do not have the space for an indoor swing, although I would love one of those!
Are you planning on homeschooling?
No, we are sending the girls to a Montessori school located nearby. Kylie is just now being enrolled for next fall. 👍🏻😊
❤️❤️❤️
Hello! I like your helpful videos! In the intros you always say “from one busy parent to another...” but what about those of us who care for children but aren’t their parents? Don’t leave us out!! Please :)
