@@ObscureMics 😂 you just made me laugh and think of that clip with Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal in the car from “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”
I'm actually really hype about this! Looks like a slight AT2020 look lol. I love the clear sound it has! Especially since a lot of mics (especially dynamic) make me sound muddy due to my low end prominent bass. Another great video! It's an honor to be mutual on Flip!
@@ObscureMics Yessir! I agree I tend to lean more towards deeper voice reviews just so I know if I’m talking normal and not Pitching my voice up for enthusiasm in content it’ll still sound alright.
I wish I could get Shure to send me a mic before it's released!! But what I know about mics is that Shure simply work and sound great right out of the box. Worth every cent. Another great video Bark!!
I'd have to get the full kit, too. Looking forward to more reviews when it's released. Like most side address mics, it would be too distracting on camera, but a dream for a podcast.
Extremely cool design for that kit. A good sounding and unoffensive sounding mic. Cool. A comparison with the sE 2200 kit would be a great bake-off. The 2200 kit comes in at $299. Hey congrats! Over a thousand views in 10 hours!
I believe one would use what is referred to as a "spanner wrench" for the notches. Think of a handle attached to a letter C with Pins sticking down at each opening. The pins fit down into the notches. ----------C
Oh, Forgot to ask... which do you like better this or the LS-208? I do REALLY like this Shure SM-4 and the plosive reject with their dual pop screens, one right in front of the capsule built into the mic itself and the other on the mount really appear to do a greta job. The looks kinda seem a cross between the Lewitt 440 Pure and the Fifine K669D. Looks like Shure is upping the home studio / podcast audio game with a more affordable and ... gasp... possibly, dare I say "better" solution to the SM-7b for the intended market. I like it. A lot.
Man…putting me in the spot The ls208 is my favorite end address and maybe my favorite mic period More testing must be done before I go too much farther into the sm4 opinion
I was worried it would have a darker sound like their Dynamic mics are, which I’ve never really been a fan of, but the SM4 sounds really darn nice. And the headphones, I completely agree, I love the Sennheiser sounds, been using the same Sennheiser headphones for the last 15 years almost daily for work and play, Audio Technica for work as well, but I’m not the biggest fan of Shure’s headphones
Nice video mate and review as always. I was about to get a new mic but gave me 2nd thoughts and I will wait til it becomes available here in the Philippines. Keep safe mate.
@@ObscureMics Awesome! That's an important specification for a condenser to know what noise floor you can expect. Maybe they missed it. Thank you for the review
Sounds really nice. I like that you can get the mic alone. IF I could have done that with my NT1 Signatures I would have, as I don't use the supplied shock mounts or windscreens - I have smaller ones I like better.
I really want to know how this compares to an AT2035. I have an AT2020 at the moment and I was looking to change it up but struggling to choose. Other than cost, any wisdom? 🤔
I have not personally used the AT2035…so I can only go off of videos I have watched and while it sounds pretty solid, I really think this shure mic punches pretty hard. That being said…the sE 4100 is currently my best “upgrade” choice
I actually thought the SM58 sounded better on you, more full but still a decent high end. Only problem with that mic is you gotta have it practically glued to your mouth.
@scooba. Along as you have enough gain there is no reason why one would need to be "glued" to the 58 for it to work well. I've used 58s for corporate live sound presenters for years and with anyone who has a decent voice never had an issue with them even a couple feet away. The SM57 is pretty much the same mic as the SM58 and you will see all the Presidents of the United States since Johnson (except for one) use the 57 on the podium nowhere near their mouth. Similarly for recorded sound, it is not a "must" to be right up on these mics unless you are trying to minimize room sound or background noise. Condensers are just as bad or even worse in a situation where you are not right up on the mic and have either a bad sounding room or a lot of outside noise.
Hi! should I take this microphone to replace the Rode nt 1? I have a pretty low-pitched voice and a lot of sibilants in the upper frequencies, and Rode nt 1 emphasizes them, is it worth switching to Shure sm4?
@mitchell. The SM4 is a bit nicer sounding then the AT2020 however. Whether or not that slightly better smoothness of the SM4 in the upper mids matters enough to you and what your budget might be would obviously be the determining factors of which to go with.
Tad bright yes….i don’t think it sounds artificial at all. But of course we all hear things a little differently. Highly appreciate you watching and commenting!
