Dave, you may have just saved my bacon. Was searching for a writeup on replacing the CPS and came across the video. Awesome. Will follow the procedure and report back
So I’m pretty new to the Audi world, I have a 95’ 90Q with a 5 speed and V6 and I’m curious about that code reader deal, and curious as to where to get one
You can use most standard obd2 code readers, but you need a 2x2 connector, easily found on ebay. Just know that these are early diagnostic tools, it might give you a specific code or a generic one. Ex: mass air flow problem, vs random misfire (not telling you which cylinder)
@@BrokenQuattros that’s what I figured, both my vehicles are pre obd 2 so I never found the need to purchase a code reader. I’ve putz around the internet a few nights and found specific dongles for the Audi 90 and software you can download to diagnose codes
Having a no start condition on a 20v ann swap into a 4k and trying to diagnose if the ecu is sending power to the cps(in this case its a tunacan dizzy hall sender )Do you know if you pull the cps harness to check for voltage the ecu will send voltage when cranking and when the key is in the on position? Thanks for the videos and any advice!
About to do this same repair. So thankful there is a video. QW writeups are great but, this really helps

Iirc it only sends signal under cranking conditions
@@BrokenQuattros thanks for the quick reply! Any ideas of what to look for next if there is no voltage at the CPS harness when cranking?
