I am from Tamil Nadu state in India and a Hindu. The kinda discrimination that Hindus face in India is largely ignored or silenced. My mother a thyroid patient went to a Christian doctor and she was asked to say, "Praise the lord" before treatment. My aunt went to a dental clinic and she was "advised" to become a Christian to get relief from all ailments. There is a growing trend trend in India where Hindu religious procession are increasingly getting attacked and stones throwned by Indian Muslims. Everybody know how a Hindu person's head was decapitated and shown live in Facebook for insulting Islam in Social media. There are pastors who publicly announce how much souls they have harvested and how much they have to work further to make India a Christian nation. Yet Hindus gets blamed by western media and Indian leftists/Communists.

    4) You dont want to worship idols - no problem. You can focus on Nirguna Brahman.

"Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" (the world is a family)
    20) You don't have time to celebrate the festival.
Don't worry. One more festival is coming! There are multiple festivals every single day of the year.
    21) You are a working person. Don't have time for religion. Its okay. You will still be a Hindu.
    22) You like to go to temples. Devotion is loved.
    23) You don't like to go to temples - no problem. You are still a Hindu!
    24) You know that Hinduism ☺ is a way of life, with considerable freedom.
    25) You believe that everything has God in it. So you worship your mother, father, guru, tree, River, Prani-matra, Earth, Universe!
    26) And If you don't believe that everything has GOD in it - No problems. Respect your viewpoint.
    27) "Sarve jana sukhino bhavantu " (May you all live happily)
You represent this! You're free to choose, my dear Hindu!
This is exactly the essence of Hinduism, all inclusive .. That is why it has withstood the test of time inspite of repeated onslaught both from within and outside, and assimilated every good aspects from everything . That is why it is eternal !!!
There is a saying in Rigveda , the first book ever known to mankind which depicts the Hinduism philosophy in a Nutshell -" Ano bhadrah Krathavo Yanthu Vishwathah"- Let the knowledge come to us from every direction..

I live in USA and one of the office colleague raised the same point without knowing anything about the diversity in India and it’s culture.
It’s only when I explained him about the Indian society and it’s history he shut his mouth and stopped spreading negativity.
I have often seen Indian people outside India do not take stand for their country or confront foreign people who spit venom without knowing any facts about it.
Unless we show what is the positive side of India the world especially westerners are only going to speak negatively based on one sided or half cooked information they see from their biased media.

Diversity in India is a fact of it’s history and it’s typical make up. But it’s not a hidden fact there is open declaration and discourse for eradicating significant sections of its population and impose by force set ideology to rewrite the face of Indian society in its way forward. Not dealing with the striking current attempts to ‘correct?’ what is considered as anomalous past and talking of India’s diversity is just plain deception or doublespeak.

My father is a Brahmin Catholic (note its the ancestry. we don't believe in the caste system) from Mangalore. He was born and bred there but worked in the middle-east with the Sheikhs and then the British and American armies. He had the chance to move to Britain, America and subsequently Canada and he was even offered the passport for his service. He, like my grandfather before him, declined it.
He saw himself as a proud Indian man and found it absurd to live anywhere else. I admired my father and grandfather very much for this.
He peacefully died in India a few years back. He always would say to me, 'India has never let me down. Therefore, I will never let India down'. He relished when he'd share stories of India's slow climb to prosperity.
Now, I visit my father's grave from England to this day and will never accept the 'intolerant India' narrative that the media seems to have a field day with.
    I wish all Indians well.

Wow!! I have not heard a more cogent, balanced presentation of the Indian reality to a western society before. The ‘overheard in the next room’ is such an apt analogy that should make it so clear. I do not think any other country in the world has so many ethnicities, languages (28+ official if I am right, and hundreds of dialects), religions living together. Governing this country is an unparalleled challenge. Other countries cannot even fathom that. The hollowness of their questions, especially when there is discrimination and persecution within the more or less ‘not very diverse cultures’ in their very societies , is a testament to this.

    • @sparkyblue7016
      @sparkyblue7016 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Truly. The west asks questions on perceived discrimination against minorities in India, with such a diverse culture, while even with their very singular society, they have so many cases of discrimination.
Now, what I feel is, that constantly poking at other countries when the same thing happens in your homeland is just hypocrisy.
It is truly difficult to govern such a nation with so much diversity, something which would be difficult for most countries. Yet india does it brilliantly. Surely reforms are needed, but is isn't anything over which the west needs to make an issue. As Mr Jaishankar pointed out, there is no discrimination over Healthcare or other facilities, or over most things. But the west makes it seem as if there is some grave oppression or crimes being committed against minority.
Technically speaking, everyone is a minority in india, if you take their region, they could be a minority, their faith, a minority, their background, a minority. Everyone is different and diverse, something which the west doesn't understand.

    3. Countries where everyone is made to agree to something - China and North Korea, where there is only one governance and people can't even voice about their leaders.

Which line of education deals with correct interpretation of an idea across cultures ? West talks of democracy from their understanding of democracy. Indians talk of democracy from their own experiences. Having lived in both these cultures I am not at all surprised that different interpretation of the same principle exists. It like a tug of war between Modi govt and liberal west as to who is the torch bearer of democracy. Both are right in their place. India is way more plural than west including USA/Canada. But the liberals in west get fixated on the fact that minorities in India don't openly support Modi govt on social media/print etc. The west will not understand the minority behavior in India. It takes a person raised in India amongst minorities to understand/accept this aberration. India needs more courses in diplomacy across the cultures to educate the west in case their opinions matters.
