Looks like a fun boat to fool around in! Nice console, the carpet tile is a good idea. You still need some foam or rubber for the camera mounts to control the vibration.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yes did the foam/rubber thing, no good. Used the carpet tiles, 2 pieces, stuck the glue sides together so the carpet side was the bottom of the cosole and the top of the bench seat. It worked much better absorbing the vibration. Thanks again !

Looks like your in an 8ft dingy with those bare chested overhead shots,LOL! The distorted camera angle syndrome. Nice little console mod....maybe a steering wheel mod in future like an old school simple cable helm hub and pulley system,HA!

@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Hey TOO I did a dash u channel out of 2 two 1 by 8 pine boards and 1 by 12 board faceplate on a 12ft MFG trihull Cartop years ago was so simple with cable steering anyhoo yeah alot easier to keep it tiller I get it,HA!
@@GPOldMarineShop Yeah I know, easy! I guess you missed the episode where I took out the original aluminum orlando clipper dash and all 4 cable pullys. The reason I bought the was for small tiller builds coming up! I should have never sold my 15' duracraft jon boat. Big Mistake! next motor - 71 20hp johnson ! yeehaw! stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 I did see that video.To me its just always better to sit a little farther away comfortably in a chair or padded bench seat from the motor and turn a wheel instead of a tiller rod...But I understand what you did nice job all around..

i like what you did with the carb butterfly you might want to try seeing how fast without cover on then open up air intakes on cover ?

Iv got a 10x15 on my 30hp but can’t meet RPM at 20 knots, I’m planning on going down to 10x13 and getting few knots more speed

In comparing prop performance, boat speed is aptly monitored with a GPS but you really ought to plug in a tach to monitor engine speed (RPMs) as a seat-of-the-bathing-suit approach can be quite deceiving on that side of the equation. Regards.

you can save 15 pounds of weight if you get rid of the marine starting battery, I use a battery for a small car like a Honda civic only 28 pounds
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. That battery really goes to my 24v trolling motor. Anyway the motor and the battery are not staying on the boat. I bought the boat to test run these small tiller motor builds I have coming up, I had sold my other jon boat so I had nothing to test run short shaft tillers on. It's a real pain trying to run them on my 16' Starcraft with a 20" transom. I had no idea that the 1956 14' Orlando Clipper was as lite as it is. It looks heavy. With that size 30 hp it was porpoising real bad, couldn't go over 19-20 mph, so I needed to fix that. I made the trim tabs for it which work great, unfortunately they slow the boat down with all the extra drag in the water and I still couldn't get the trim pin up past the bottom two holes to get the speed up. Once I added some weight it really helped to stabilize the boat. Now I have a nice smooth stable ride at 28+ mph and was able to move the trim pin up to the third notch and get 29 out of it but it got a little unstable again. Every time I move the pin up a notch I gain more speed, more lift, less boat in the water = more speed. The boat only weighs 200 lbs. but the trim tabs are holding it back. If I took the trim tabs off I would need a ton of weight up front, I would guess 150 lbs minimum. And that ain't happening. That 30+ hp Evinrude should be pushing that tin can 32 mph minimum. So actually its really not about the speed its more about stability and ability, as I have future builds of the same size outboard coming up. Although it would be nice hitting 32! Hahaha! Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while now. I'm looking for some expert knowledge like yours, hopefully you may be able to point me in the right direction. I have a 1988 Johnson 40hp on a 13ft Boston Whaler. I seem to be burning power packs frequently. My boat has been sitting for sometime now and i have recently pulled it out of storage and put it back in the water. After i tuned it up, got it running and hit the water i had a power pack failure after about 10-15 mins of boating. Lost spark to both cylinders. I replaced the power pack and the motor ran great. Went on a 38 mile trip and the engine stopped. After trial and error i figured out it lost spark again, replaced the power pack and it fired right up. Do you know of any common issues to cause repeated failure of a power pack? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! I'm no expert but I can tell you my experience. Johnson 92' 60hp- no spark. I just got the outboard, I picked up a good used OMC service manual on ebay. After testing all ignition components , which was very brain frazzling for me, hahaha, turned out to be a bad powerpack, the only thing I could find was it was getting a small amount of voltage coming through the black/yellow wire that went to the Pp. Any amout of voltage coming through that wire will kill the Pp. That seems to be a common issue on these outboards blowing Pp's. After more testing to track down where the voltage was coming from, it seemed to be at the Big Red Plug, which I thought was very strange. If I remember correctly no voltage at the key switch but there it was at the plug, weird, so I cut the plug off and used bullet connectors to connect the wires and boom, no more voltage through the blk/yel wire going to the Pp. Anyway, I still think it was weird, but it still has the same new Pp that I put in it. So you'll just have to rule everything out, a process of elimination, could be the wiring check schematic, stator, timerbase, rectifire, key switch short. bad connection at one of those plugs in the wiring harness. It's brain frazzling! hahaha! Check ebay for a used OMC manual specific to your year/model it will give you all testing procedures or you could just replace everything that has to do with ignition and skip all that testing crap! Never! Hahaha. It's a little more complicated then that. A few gollons of gas is hardly enough to cure the problems it was having. Heavy outboard on an ultralight boat! You'll have to go back and watch the previous episodes to understand. Thanks again !
