Del Sol is a bit of a letdown as a successor, but kinda cool and weird in it's own way. Why no mention of the CR-Z? That car was basically the modern CRX, though a bit of a strange engine choice. They made the HPD version and the Super GT racecar which are both really cool. I own a CR-Z and I've won autocross events with it (beating Focus RS's and Miatas), it's significantly underrated.
I have a 1986 CRX with the 1600, 16v twin cam engine, currently undergoing a complete rear axle rebuild. And as a 71 year old !! can't wait to get it back on the road. 😉👍

I remember there was a young couple living for like 2-3 weeks in our village in the neighbourhood, they were on vacation. They had a red CRX, and since ive seen that car as a little kid i love it and always found it so badass. Compact, sporty, amazing curves and lamps, it just looked stunning. 90's car designs are my favorites forever.

I had an '87 DX in the late 90's/early 2ks. To this day, my favorite car that I have EVER driven. I loved that car. Like, I weep softly when I think of it. Not fast, but SPORTY!! and NEVER, in over 120,000 miles ,not one time EVER did she act like she didn't wanna go wherever I did. Not even a dead battery. But she had those old Honda in the desert rubber problems, and those torsion bars... I sold her in a moment of weakness and frustration, once I didn't need her anymore, and I've just hated that I did that ever since.
As the owner of a '91 CRX I have to say you did not do a good job of informing people about the simple everyday goodness of the car. But you did tell me some history I didn't know, so thanks for that.
I got to race these though I never owned one. I worked at a Honda dealership in the late 80's and had a series of CRX Si's for demos. So... I bought some spare wheels and shaved Yokohama 008R race rubber and went SCCA autocrossing. I won a regional championship in D-Stock in 1989 against some cars that maybe were not so stock as they were supposed to be. Me, I had a Maroni sticker in the window and a magnetic dealer plate. "Hey, you driving the red CRX?" "Yes. "Wasn't it yellow last week?" "You know, I think it was. Or black." Loved those cars. A true giant killer on a winding road.
The day my crx engine had a knock was the day I loved it I romped stomped rallied and had way to much fun not caring changed my life and opinion of honda !🥴 PS I romped on it for 2 more years

I've taken my old '89 Si (true shitbox - first CRX of three) rally cross up to the off road course here in the PNW and it was the most exhilarating feeling ever. 60-70 mph around a gravel turn, staring at the inside of the mountain in front and the cliff of trees to my left. Take me back!

I was so fortunate to have owned 2 CRX's, one from each gen. The 1985 was so much fun to drive, but the 89 was my all-time favorite. Till this day i still think back at my days in it. Great to see the CRX getting some spotlight.
In Europe we also had the V-tec version of the Honda CR-X I think it's because they didn't have to change that much for regulation requirements that the U.S. expects. In Europe (and Holland for me) we got a lot of great cars from Japan. I can now say we were doing great then 😀👍

There's not much history to it. A guy just really liked the look of them and wanted to add his own style so he did, then other people started asking him to modify their Porsche so he did. He doesn't touch the engine, only the body. The interesting thing is that he personally flies to your location to build it for you and every single one is handbuilt by him.

Autox its a toss up personally i loved my 86 but my 87crx si was my unicorn it was a cali car rust free i bought for $800 and the fenders and facia was still intact and unbroken
In general, I do not lile Japanese cars. But the second generation of the CRX, th eED9, is a true timeless classic, just one of the most beautiful automobiles ever built. And: This was a fast thing!

Currently i have a 89 ford probe gt thats black and im planing on puting an fe3 motor in and my dad has an 89 ford probe gt he's had since 1992 and is running strong, and at the time the probes were faster than the current mustang, but ford detuned the probe to be slower than the mustang.

man, i loved this car so much. had a 91 CRX si and was my daily driver for work in the early 2000. This thing was so zippy and fun to drive. And it was so good on gas.
When I was a kid, my mom bought a CRX used. She drove the wheels off of it and she liked it so much, she traded it in on a new one. Later on she gave me that car. I remember the first time I drove it I thought "Oh, I see why she loved this thing!" So much fun to drive and super cheap on gas.

I got to race these though I never owned one. I worked at a Honda dealership in the late 80's and had a series of CRX Si's for demos. So... I bought some spare wheels and shaved Yokohama 008R race rubber and went SCCA autocrossing. I won a regional championship in D-Stock in 1989 against some cars that maybe were not so stock as they were supposed to be. Me, I had a Maroni sticker in the window and a magnetic dealer plate. "Hey, you driving the red CRX?" "Yes. "Wasn't it yellow last week?" "You know, I think it was. Or black." Loved those cars. A true giant killer on a winding road.

Tbh, the moment you quit caring is when you truly learn the quality of stuff. I have so many brand loyalties because of trying to kill things and they not breaking.

I've taken my old '89 Si (true shitbox - first CRX of three) rally cross up to the off road course here in the PNW and it was the most exhilarating feeling ever. 60-70 mph around a gravel turn, staring at the inside of the mountain in front and the cliff of trees to my left. Take me back!

I was so fortunate to have owned 2 CRX's, one from each gen. The 1985 was so much fun to drive, but the 89 was my all-time favorite. Till this day i still think back at my days in it. Great to see the CRX getting some spotlight.

In Europe we also had the V-tec version of the Honda CR-X I think it's because they didn't have to change that much for regulation requirements that the U.S. expects.
In Europe (and Holland for me) we got a lot of great cars from Japan. I can now say we were doing great then 😀👍

I bought a CRX 1.5 new in 1984 and it was a blast! I drove it in a "spirited manner" around town and still got 30 MPG! Really fun car!

Aririyadi Saputra RWB is a shop and every car is made by hand by one man. It’s not a production company.
There's not much history to it. A guy just really liked the look of them and wanted to add his own style so he did, then other people started asking him to modify their Porsche so he did. He doesn't touch the engine, only the body. The interesting thing is that he personally flies to your location to build it for you and every single one is handbuilt by him.
Just bought one in April, 1990 1.5L. Needs work but can’t wait to take it on the road!

Ive owned both as well and i guess it comes down to what your intentions with it. Just to daily go crx. Drift or drag ae86. Autox its a toss up personally i loved my 86 but my 87crx si was my unicorn it was a cali car rust free i bought for $800 and the fenders and facia was still intact and unbroken

@@jerlaine1638 They're built on the same body and both had the same V6 engine making the same horsepower. They're about as close to the same car as you can get without it being actually the same car, like the BRZ vs FRS.
@@grantobrien3396 see your leaving out the first gen probe which had a 2.2 turbo and the first gen mx6 with a 2.2 turbo that had fws=four wheel steering, they both shared the f2t engine, the second gen mx6 and probe shared the v6 klze motor,. Currently i have a 89 ford probe gt thats black and im planing on puting an fe3 motor in and my dad has an 89 ford probe gt he's had since 1992 and is running strong, and at the time the probes were faster than the current mustang, but ford detuned the probe to be slower than the mustang.

man, i loved this car so much. had a 91 CRX si and was my daily driver for work in the early 2000. This thing was so zippy and fun to drive. And it was so good on gas.
When I was a kid, my mom bought a CRX used. She drove the wheels off of it and she liked it so much, she traded it in on a new one. Later on she gave me that car. I remember the first time I drove it I thought "Oh, I see why she loved this thing!" So much fun to drive and super cheap on gas.
