  • I have now officially visited the 3 main regions of the Philippines along with what is considered the 4 largest cities in the country and let me tell you I am glad I got to see this city last. This city has a ton of potential and is already in 3rd gear with development and new projects. Cleaner air, wider roads, less traffic and enough city to make you feel like you don't want to escape to manila I already know many foreigners will flock here in the future! Enjoy!

That's true. Iloilo city is small in terms of population, but it is highly urbanized and one of the top and cleanest cities in P.I.The third safest city in the nation, following Davao and Makati. The province has approximately 2.5 million inhabitants if you include it (City).

Iloilo looks nice, I haven't visited there yet but to me it looks like a Cebu-type place, or growing to that level. I prefer more provincial/less busy cities like Dumaguete, where I currently live. Although Duma is growing quickly too. Bacolod City is three times larger than Iloilo City in terms of area. The population of Iloilo City in 2023 is 447,000 based on google, and the population of Iloilo Province exceeds 2 million people. Being the regional and business center of the entire region, Iloilo attracts many people daily from other provinces such as Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Guimaras who come here to transact in various government regional offices. It is also a major educational center in the entire region, where many people from other provinces primarily come to study.

Strangely enough, 15% of Davao population are from Iloilo, originally, same goes with other southern Mindanao towns and cities. Bacolod, 70% of population are 3rd or 4th generation are from Iloilo too. Migrants from sugar boom 120 years ago. Iloilo city is pretty much 90% Ilonggo in ethnicity.

Cebu has a small land area for commercial purposes thats why they're building it in just 1 or 2 kilometers from the shore and stretch it all along the coastline. No way they can make a cheap meticulous urban development unless they resort to reclamation. Unlike in Iloilo where construction is just starting up and a lot of space to accommodate these new developments.

I'm a local here in Iloilo and the way I've been seeing in the news how things are going on around the country, I'm glad that I could relax and be carefree. It's true it's very peaceful and clean. Been a blessing with these walkable streets. From what I've seen improve, the low-to-no cime rate really has been the biggest surprise. I could walk even in the middle of the night and feel safe on the streets. Check the plazas at night, especially Molo and Jaro Plaza. They are starting to develop the coastal areas heading north and I'm excited. Plus if you really want an active lifestyle this is the place to be. You can visit downtown or metro by just walking beside the esplanade that spans through the Iloilo river.

I liked and followed your blog. But now I unsub. If you prefer Ilo-ilo respectfully it's your choice. But why specifically target graphically Dumaguete with a thumbs down vs Ilo-ilo, how about Bohol, CDO, Davao, Bagiuo and others. What nasty experience have you in Dumaguete? Do you need to do that? We are people of Dumaguete and it's quite a slap. Then you put your face in your videos, that's great, mind where you go, then bash the place.

These cities are simply gateways not necessarily the biggest contributor in our economy because the Philippines is still an agricultural country. a magnet for cheap labors where people from the countryside are duped by the shrewd businesses and businessmen.😁
