I rememeber busting my ass on EE the legit way and the extreme joy when the screen went dark. I thought the challenge was over... until the choke sequence. Then it turns out the only time solidus is actually a challenge is on EE. This game is so brutal.
And during the choke sequence Raiden position change. So if you were on the psg1T ammo spot and low on Emma health you are doomed. I swear this game

I beat this game on EE years ago when I was a kid. This method is definitely something I would've love to have known back then. But the one thing that astonishes me is finding out after watching this video is the fact that you had to beat 20 RAYs on EE! I had no idea back then on how many you needed to kill so it just felt like a never ending marathon to me at the time.

This will help once I reach this fight, I can't believe that there's a strategy to make the most difficult fight into an utter joke.
Absolutely no way, I remember struggling with this single fight for a few months when the original remaster came out, haven’t tried again since but holy crap this makes everything so much easier!

I remember watching my brother fight this boss when we were kids, we all jumped for joy when he finally killed him. so epic
Had to learn this through trial and error when it first came out on the PS2. After I figured out the pattern it was a breeze.
I was 16 when I finally beat this on extreme back in 2002. It made me so mad I destroyed a few controllers over it. For me it was the missiles that came low that would get me. If you don't cartwheel the angle correctly at the perfect time it will kill you in one hit most the time.

I cant beat it even on normal the ray keeps stomping on me giving the other rays a chance to shoot missiles and screw everyrhing up i cant do and i dont understand how thqt iw but i appreciate the help tho
I’m not sure if these videos are out dated or something wrong with my game on extreme and before I even get the 3 in the beginning to one hit they are already using the water jets and missiles after the first round of hits
On a seperate comment, no need to knee him first on the final kill shot. Its 3 knee face combos and one straight to the face for a kill.
Probably when I was 14 years old, but now as a 34 year old fighting 20 metal gear rays, absolutely no chance 🤣😂

Even so it is still a hard boss. I thought that I was doing something wrong, extreme hard encounter design.

one problem I am having here is that when on the Loop and the RAY is at the center of the room, I shoot the leg then the head then it is invincible for a bit. After that, I keep on getting hit by the Water Cannon just as I'm able to lock-on again to the leg.
You have to "trick shot" the leg as shown in the video, i.e. fire before his invincibility period is up, such that the missle hits the knee right after he isn't invincible again

Agreed. I’m just getting into the series but MGS1 boss battles were way better. I really enjoy Raidens character however

When I shoot the Middle Ray for the 3rd time and shoot the head of the right one, I start going down but the middle Ray knocks me down every time. Don't know what I'm doing wrong

I found out last night shooting the knee then the face does extra damage beat em on normal! I cant even remember how i did it ps2 days honestly!

I think there’s an intentional thing here built in by the devs… Rose doesn’t want to hurt Raiden and Raiden doesn’t want to hurt Rose so you ensure A05E isn’t involved in the fight and you can survive 😅
