@@Freelancer837 no? All games will have a point where a rule is too extreme for it. Rules which are slack for one game are not automatically proportionate to another
The Soliton radar made the gameplay way worse. It should've been abandoned after the top-down Metal Gear 2 on MSX and I'm glad MGS3 got rid of it completely. MGS4 has the threat ring and the Solid Eye radar which was a significantly better replacement to help with special awareness without being completely broken and ruining the challenge. In MGS1, you have absolutely no reason to look at the actual game because the radar gave you way more information. It's basically a game of dots and cones because that's all you need to look at. MGS2 has this problem too but they nerfed it by adding nodes you need to reach and activate before the Soliton radar is turned on, and on higher difficulties there is no radar and guards actually have good sight. No more dots and cones.
It was great but it's not necessary in the newer games. The moment we were given free camera movement in the Subsistence version of MGS3, it wasn't as necessary, but it would still be nice to have. The Solid Eye was sort of like it, but it sucked in comparison, especially because of the batteries it ran on
@@120Pythons this is the dumbest comment I have ever read. The radar in 2 does not make the game worse or even easier, it just conveys information which is impossible to tell without it and makes areas like water levels far more convenient and less clunky. In mgs1 there are several reasons to NOT only use the radar. It doesn’t show any kind of traps, like lasers or trap doors. It doesn’t show you items in a room, it doesn’t show if a turret is looking at you if the turret is outside of the radar radius. It doesn’t show some enemies locations such as grey fox in some segments or sniper wolf unless you use the stinger to get real close to her to see her on the radar. I can go on. This is just a horrible comment.
@zzodysseuszz I disagree, I think I just read a dumber one lol. 🧐 To say that the radar doesn't make the game easier in MGS2 is just a blatant lie bro. The information conveyed on the radar completely breaks the majority of the games difficulty, letting you magically see enemies across walls and know exactly where they are looking at all times. How can you not see that this is a huge advantage that makes other elements of the game completely irrelevant? With the radar, you can literally turn off the audio and play the game with zero sound cues such as enemy footsteps, and you don't need to lean near corners because you already know exactly where the enemies are. MGS2 doesn't need it, and on higher difficulties it's actually removed completely, for good reason. MGS2 gives you enough tools to use like long range FPV aiming, peaking, knocking to lure guards and the box. BTW you have to activate the radar first in MGS2 by reaching the nodes, by that point you should already be familiar with the layout of the room and not need the radar. Water levels needing the map is just your opinion, that swimming section with Emma is so short and linear it's not even worth mentioning. You are attacking a strawman, that's like saying "hey in MGS1 you can't know that there are ladders to interact with if you only look at the radar" yes obviously I know there are things the radar doesn't display in MGS1, I'm speaking in hyperbole. I am talking about the core MGS gameplay itself though, which revolves around sneaking around patrolling guards. MGS3 and MGS4 improved the gameplay by making sneaking more complex. No soliton radar and enemies can now hear your footsteps if you're running. Then MGSV went full Batman Arkham series with enemies being visible through walls lol.
@zzodysseuszz The one cool thing about the radar in 2 was when the enemies would clear rooms or see something suspicious and it would show a live video clip of what's happening on your radar

Honestly this is so much better even if the quality is poorer. All the garbage overlay and facecam just takes away from the run. Why go through all the trouble to do the run just to upload a really slop VODlike version. Also a dude called OddlerPro did a very good ghost run as well.
According to the rules, the "almost ghost run"' is a poltergeist run
