    I like the Thunderbirds one best because it’s triumphant and doesn’t ruin it too much.
    Joe 90 comes in second for uniqueness. The U.F.O. one doesn’t count, but is still good narration.
    Also, at 4:49, it sounds like they are saying “UK”.

    The Joe 90 theme at 4:06 is probably the best one. Its very catchy

    日本のアンダーソンのファンです。素晴らしい企画によるコンテンツをありがとうございます。とても面白く楽しめました。
    (ただちょっと気になるところがあります。UFOのスカイ1のシーンで、日本語で「海上を超スピードで進み…」と言っているところの訳が"it will travel at the speed of light"とあるのは誤解を与えると思うのですが)

    I first saw Thunderbirds in Japan. My Father was stationed over there. Since a puppet show with space ships was not the weirdest thing I saw on Japanese TV, I just assumed that it was a Japanese show. This was the early 1970 and there was no internet. I did not find out that Thunderbird was a English show till the early 1980's when I saw the TV movies.

    The Japanese's theme to Captain Scarlet is weird. How is Cloudbase a spacestation? Where is there a episode featuring a robot with a ray gun? And why on Earth are children singing this happy, cheesy tune to this very dark series?
    PS: That real life Spectrum Salon car at the begining was awesome.

    • @kimjongoof5000
      @kimjongoof5000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The saloon was also a fake slot car. I’ve seen a better quality of the clip before

    • @imfsresidentotaku9699
      @imfsresidentotaku9699 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cloudbase is in the sky, which is close enough to space. The children are singing a this happy tune because this is still a show about a hero who's here to save us, and they're cheering him on. This being a "very dark series" is irrelevant. And the theme isn't "weird" or "cheesy." It's determined and heroic, like many Japanese TV opening themes from this time period.

    The Mysteron monologue sounds so much creepier! Hilarious that it would have followed such an upbeat kiddie song, though. Interesting that of all of songs (we won't count UFO which was just narration setting the scene) only the one for Thunderbirds actually uses real music from the show, Barry Gray's Century 21 March. Wasn't there also a song for Space: 1999?

    • @t7052ts
      @t7052ts 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Space 1999 also has Japanese original song. You can find it in TH-cam. Needless to say original one is 10 times better than that though the singer of the Japanese song is well known person.

    • @imfsresidentotaku9699
      @imfsresidentotaku9699 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that "hilarious," considering that this is still a show about a hero, so the song is cheering him on, and that most Japanese TV openings from this time period were like this.

    This song for Captain Scarlett doesn't matches at all. Considering how this series was the darkest of all Gerry Anderson productions from the "Supermarionation" era. This happy sounding song fits more for a funny anime or something.

      @imfsresidentotaku9699 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does match. Captain Scarlet is a show about a hero, so it makes sense for the theme to be heroic. The series being "the darkest of all Gerry Anderson productions from the 'Supermarionation' era" is irrelevant. Most Japanese superhero shows from this time period had themes like this, even when dealing with dark subject matter. Saying that "This happy sounding song fits more for a funny anime or something" shows how little you know about Japanese television.

    I can't understand why the Japanese networks created their own titles for the series, particularly Captain Scarlet. Having a song that is upbeat in tone completely changed the mood that Gerry Anderson intended to create, indeed he cringed when he saw the Japanese version of the captain scarlet opening titles...

    Interesting. Only the Thunderbird theme (Second movement) remained unscathed but the others.........DEAR GOD!!!!!
    Now I know how the Japanese must have felt when Saban, FUNamations and 4Kids literally DESTORYS the themes is such classic Anime like Samurai Pizza Cats,Maple Town,One Piece and Dragon Ball
    .

      @imfsresidentotaku9699 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you've actually talked to Japanese people who feel that way about American anime themes, no, you don't know. Saban, FUNimation, and 4Kids didn't "literally DESTROY the themes." They just wrote different music for a different audience, while the original themes are still intact.
      Same goes for the Anderson themes: The originals remain unscathed, and the songs the Japanese came up with are catchy and heroic, fit their respective shows well enough, and go along nicely with other Japanese TV opening themes of the time period. Your "DEAR GOD!!!!!" is in vain.

      +CPU UK The Japanese seem to be big on theme songs with vocals. On the other hand they weren't the only ones to change theme songs on Anderson productions. Some episodes of the German dub of Space: 1999, Mondbasis Alpha I, used Jean Michel Jarre's "Oxygene II" as the theme instead of Barry Gray and Derek Wadsworth's themes.

    This Japanese kids ballad for STINGRAY is a charming, cute theme. I suppose the shame of it is that the original STINGRAY theme by Barry Gray is one of the best things he ever did, and in fact it is one of the coolest TV themes of the 1960s. Why take that away from little kids in Japan? I think it was a stupid thing to do.
