The rumor has been spreading for awhile but its official now! We've been keeping it quiet in our town cause we don't want the overwhelm of people needing our services as we fumble around learning how to order parts. You think we are crazy? ....
@WillFixThat we went on our 11 day cruise and came home with covid. Was recovering. Cruise ships just large petry dish. Never had covid 1st time. That new med to clear up fast is nasty. Been catching up on videos. Congratulations with Volvo
Volvo makes a very good product and I think they have gotten better about customer support and stocking parts in the US. But parts are pricey. It's just the nature if the beast though. Having a reliable and honest service facility with you guys will be a win-win for you and Volvo.
Thanks James we had fun! It’s been really official a few weeks! We haven’t advertised here yet! We don’t want the overwhelm … so we are sharing it here first! 😊
Are you guys are pretty cool enjoy your channel. I have a friend that owns a Harley dealership. It’s a pretty big one and he’s been in it since the early days through the bad times anyway. And he told me that he didn’t know what was more important, his employees or his customers. He doesn’t lay off in the winter at least a good ones. There’s a lot cycle you need somebody that cares about their work as you do with a boat. The work has to be right. The people have to show up if you could conquer that . The sky is the limit you guys will knock it out of the park. And you’re gonna have to bring some key people along so you could run the business and your employees can do the work. Good luck happy for you.
Your Harley friend is right about customers and employees you need both to be great! We keep our guys working in the slower times as well. This fall with the hurricanes really slowed down for people coming this way.
Last spring I hit a sandbar right in the middle of the channel markers (near Atlantic City, under three foot draft), be careful on those spring trips, a lot can change over the winter.
I installed a skegGurd about 18 years ago on my bravo1 X and haven’t had a problem. But I did pre fit then filled the cavity with aircraft fuel tank sealent and shoved it on.
I have no real experience with Volvo diesels. I have heard a few stories about reliability and costs to maintain, but heck all marine engines can be expensive to maintain. The guys with Volvos in your area will be happy you are a dealer. Travel expense will be less , parts should be easier to get, etc. I think it’s a win for all involved.
Yup it’s just another offering that we have & the word is getting out! We haven’t advertised it where we live yet … didn’t want overwhelm when we are learning a new way of ordering parts etc.
There’s only 2 emergencies fire and flooding! No parasailing or air conditioning these do not classify as Emergencies! You have to remember we deal with real emergencies!
Having had several boats slipped at Boca Chica Naval Air Station marina..the stories of poor maintenance and repair are and were widespread. It is very difficult to find a qualified and truly honest boat/naval mechanic. The cost of living and housing is just too expensive to retain quality mechanics. These folks seem very qualified...how they manage their time must be a challenge.
Unfortunately due to base requirements we don’t work there! We tell customers they have to come to a dock in KWest. Something with the base being able to forfeit our ID cards for making $$ on base. Crazy rule but we chose not to work there.
I think your going to be used to doing your own work and billing the way you do it. Now you’ll have a giant telling you how to do everything. You’ll have so many administration items that it will consume your day. By watching all of your videos, it shows you running the show, but now Volvo warranty people will.
Those skeg guards are junk. The only time anybody puts them on, is AFTER the skeg is damaged. And now your just adding to the corrosion issue with more stainless. As far as Volvo Penta goes? I think you'll be sorry. Manufactures can be pretty hard to get along with.
Volvo is painted Green for the color of money. I would Not buy a boat if it had a Volvo in it. I have owned them in the past they will not stand behind there own parts and they are dubble the price as other parts. You company seems straight up and Volvo is Not they cost me thousands , they have as bad of a rap as Fisher Panda Good luck
Hey Steve hopefully we can make our Volvo clients experience better than what you’ve had! But, boat engines being Volvo, Cummins and MTU you name it are pricey! Appreciate your feedback thanks so much for watching! We will do our best as we do every time!
The Volvo dealer that worked on my boat was not the problem , Volvo was the problem . I would buy a 1,100 Two stage fuel pump and it would last 6 to 8 month. And the part had a year warranty. VOLVO said it was my fault it did not last and they would not warranty the pump unless a certified Volvo deal installed it??? So I paid to have them replace the next one , it went bad and the deal said it was not them Volvo would not cover it ... I bought 7 pumps and found out every one was having the same problems. I have owned several boats with all different power plants I have never seen a company not stand behind there parts that a dealer installed? Try explaining that to your costumer as a dealer . The company I used to work on my boat is no longer a Volvo dealer.
@@stevegerwig3278we understand what your saying this just happened to us with a brand new generator… it cost us a lot of money to make it right for our customer who has used us for about 8 years.
Volvo is going by the way side not popular as once was no buddy wants one and everybody knows parts are to expensive and hard to get and harder to find service and harder to work on., so if it doesn’t cost you anything then Whoopi

Definitely Skag Guards! I know several ppl that put them on over brand new Skag’s just to protect new ones!
Well as you see we come to the rescue after the damage 🥴

Thanks Mitch!
Congratulations. 80% of the profit generally comes from 20% of the customers. You seem to be running a great business.
Thanks for the kind words. 👍 we try!
I've used JB Weld for the broken portion of the skeg, then sanded and painted, the area was smaller than yours, but amazingly it held up!
Interesting thanks for sharing.

Love your videos, congrats on the Volvo appointment, they could not have a better man on the job
Wow … Matt’s going to love reading that appreciate your kind words!
I’ve had good luck using skeg guards for repairs. Nice clean look.
That’s great to hear …. We had the owner look at it before we drilled any holes just to make sure. 👍
Congrads on Volvo Dealership! Always put bearing grease on the inside of the skag guards. Change out once a yr along with typical annual service.
Thanks for the tips!
Last spring I hit a sandbar right in the middle of the channel markers (near Atlantic City, under three foot draft), be careful on those spring trips, a lot can change over the winter.
Exactly especially where we live during hurricane season!

little digital angle guage, get the angle of the fin above prop and then match that to the angle of the skeg guard to get your hole locations

skeg gaurd for the next time white u might/ green ur clean /brown brown run aground most of the keys are 2 feet deep ----channels are for travel
People run aground here all the time. I just shake my head.
Weld them then skag guards
Thanks for sharing.
I’d get it welded. Skeg guards look cheap. If you can afford a boat with three motors you can afford the fix.
Well depending on how you want to spend your money!
Parasail boats could be huge for you guys. Its always an emergency they need to fly
There’s only 2 emergencies fire and flooding! No parasailing or air conditioning these do not classify as Emergencies! You have to remember we deal with real emergencies!
Lots of seal changes on the pods

I can confirm that. And in a place with lots of fishing = lots of pod seals. Don’t get me started on the sensor wiring

Hey fatcat 👍
Why do they leave those motors in the water
Not sure crazy we left them up when we finished! Last week we walked by and they were cleaned!
Your bold..
What makes you say that? Inquiring minds want to know?
Matt, you're doing 40's now?
lol he wishes …. He was trying to make it challenging for our young guy to find.
Why did the previous Volvo dealer go out of business????
The original owner of 30 yrs sold to a few people that weren’t mechanics and then the old owner died and the new owners just couldn’t make it.
why would you leave the outboards down for the barnacles and scum to grow? geez.
Well that’s why we told him to leave them up! He got them cleaned we show it in an up coming video.
