Thank you! We need more people in this country to do what’s right. That’s what makes America great.
Agree completely 😀
Re-work and comebacks are killers, but how you deal with them is the sign of professionalism.
Yes agree even when it hurts!
Your farming of customers will always reap what you sow! You don’t hunt customers you farm customers!! There are very few and far between service people who do that!! I promise you doing the right thing will never harm you! May temporarily hurt the pocket book but it will pay off in the future!! That’s what I based my company on over the years! That’s why I watch your channel
Thanks 🙏 for choosing our channel as one you watch! You are right about farming those customers.
Working on a boat can be unpredictable. You stood behind your work and took care of the issue. 100% accountability, mistakes are going to happen but you made it right. Nothing to hang your head about.
Thanks Derek …. We always do quality checks … appreciate the encouragement!
Nice work and good for you. I wish more companies would be as responsive as you guys.
Hey one of our tag lines ‘We Try’ it’s gotten to be a tougher industry the last few years!
that is how you do business right and how you create a loyal customer base
Yup you’re right!
You arr a good man. Taking responsibility for your work. 😊
I appreciate that …. Thanks for watching!
Matt no one person is perfect. I must say the way you and your company handled the problem is outstanding. Keep a positive attitude sir. Y'all make me proud to be a subscriber and viewer to your channel.
Appreciate you … keep watching share us with your friends! Was a tough time but we survived! Never had this experience before … it was ugly!
Matt, after watching so many of your videos, I am not surprised at your reaction to a client issue. You are a class act 100%. I can only hope if I ever have issues with a yacht, I am near Key West and your team. Keep going forward, good things come to good people and you are good people.
Hey Harry keep watching and thank you … appreciate the kind words! Share us with your boating friends. Safe travels!
We typically use blue painters tape on breakers we don't want turned on just because it stands out. The down side is that if left on too long it may not come off easily. Thank you for showing the capacitor tester. I didn't realize those things existed.
Yes that blue tape can cause a sticky mess if it sits too long!
Own It! How rare is that today. Especially with boats. Can’t tell you how many excuses I’ve heard from mechanics, and then charge me to fix their mistake. I just never use them again. I’m not looking for a deal, I just want it fixed right the first time.
Depending on the circumstances and boat it’s not always that easy! Every boat is different and we face these challenges every day 90% of the time there are no schematics or manuals. Just depends on the job!
That's a hard lesson to learn. Some wise man once said " Shit happens". Keep working. Only people who don't screw up are the ones who never do anything.
You got that right Bucky! Easy for people to point fingers when they accomplish nothing!
Wow a business that steps up and does the right thing. That is why you are so successful!
Thanks jetlag…. Great news coming soon too!
Matt Well done - it ran for 4 hours that would give anyone confidence all was good - unfortunately we couldn’t get back to check it the next day for example - a fault finding motto I use “Condition, Cause, Correct, and Confirm” love your work - Regards
Your right David 4 hours is aways to travel without problems! Thanks for sharing!
Matt, you did the right thing. Stop beating yourself up. That was a teachable moment. Consider using a checklist and have a second tech check and signoff.
Sage Advice my friend!
I've spent a lifetime working in the sun and heat but there is no way I could live in Florida, much less Key West. But I do like to visit there and was there last March. Next time I will look you guys up, I hope! Looking forward to seeing your boat finished.
lol yes looking forward to getting our project done! Yes our summers are brutal yesterday it felt like 92’
@@WillFixThat But I also don't want to live further north than Virginia, where I live.
@@mikeknottscreek8183 I can understand that Virginia gets pretty chilly in the winter we spent 4 years there when we were young!
@@WillFixThatYou guys must have been stationed in Norfolk or at least the Hampton Roads area.
@@mikeknottscreek8183Yes we were both there on different bases in Norfolk.
We are all human weake mistakes but what makes people great is being able to own up to it like yall did and that is what makes a great relationship between you and your customers I know I'd love to work for a company like yall because yall are truly a team morr like a family.
Yup mistakes happen and it’s all in how you respond that can make a big difference/impact! This happened almost a year ago we just held the video until we were ready to release it to the world! 🤪
@@WillFixThat I totally understand waiting on releasing the video, but I hope yall are doing good down there
@@honeybunbandit1Yes we are doing great BIG News coming soon.
@@WillFixThat hopefully it's big great news, lol 😆 and I told my parents that I was going to go down there and visit yall and my dad was like maybe sometime me and him could fly back down for a fishing trip. 😅
@@honeybunbandit1hopefully our project boat is done when you come. Matt could take us out for a cruise. You and your dad would have a blast fishing! Yes its Great BIG news.
Great job. You guys are awesome
Thanks so much! Was a rough time.
Honesty, accountability and integrity, you have all 3, probably has something to do with your military background. Run to a problem, not away from it.
Yes the military instilled those 3 great qualities in us! 👍
Do you have a twin you can send to Canada, great job and that’s a true professional!
As someone who works for an engineering company THIS is the way to keep clients and maintain a reputation. Yes I have made mistakes over the years. One I recall painfully was a $30k cost. But E&O will happen. You just have to learn from them.
Yup mistakes happen we have a big one coming up real soon too 😭 but we’ve stuck by the customer since we’ve worked together for about 7 yrs but it will be costly! We aren’t sure if it’s our fault or big corporations fault! But, we’ve kept our integrity thru out this process.
Awesome episode! Keep being honest! 👍👍
Absolutely… only way we know!
@@WillFixThat 👍👍
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
Hello Bill 👍
Thank you!!
Don't beat yourself up. I have had call backs. I do the same thing Matt does. I own up to it and make it right. I usually get a customer for life when you do that. Crap happens and try to not to have it happen again.
Exactly right …. Stuff happens but let’s get it fixed!
We change the lower unit on a inboard/outboard and left the oil fill to the other guys and the gasket stuck and went into the drain,,, put the bolt back on and no gasket,,, burned it up
Yikes that sounds bad! Ouch. Thanks for sharing! 🥴
HEY! New sub here liking your content. It sounds like we have a lot of the same values when it comes to serving our clients.... very well played! Above and beyond if possible!
I do have a question regarding your company shirts.....what's a fella got to do to get one? Do you have a merchandise shop where I could purchase one?
In the meantime, keep up the great content, work and service!!
CHEERS!!
If you look on our channel there is a shop for shirts! Thanks for choosing our channel to watch!
Kudos and two thumbs way up to you and your company for doing the right thing. 👍👍 However, it's a sad statement in business today, when owning up to your mistakes and guaranteeing your work has become a unique marketing strategy, since many companies now days make dishonest and dishonorable behavior their standard operating procedures.
We don’t operate dishonestly…. we were taught early and young the real meaning of integrity! Life’s too short! We all make mistakes unfortunately social media gives a false impression when you’re not truthful with yourself and those around you!
@@WillFixThat Exactly right!
That's a classy name on your friends boat called T-Bag that you took your niece out on.
It is over head storage for life vests and stuff!
👍👍
Thanks fatcat!
Old boat looks like a Navy LCPL Mk 12
Not really sure.
Ok, let me have it if deserved, i know it is red on right when returning, but when he went under bridge there was red marker on the right, which way is returning? How do you tell?
The numbers on the markers go up and down depending on if you’re going in or out! We aren’t going to treat you bad for a question 😃
@WillFixThat thank you. I boat on lake michigan, pretty obvious which way you are going. Boated in keys a couple of times but didn't have to worry about the channels.
@@mazi302 glad we could clarify the difference for you!
With out knowing what went wrong there’s really no input that can be given….. but them things blowing is why I removed them.
Matt said that the dripless coupling boot shifted unfortunately!
Should have been caught on sea trial inspection. Sea trial is not joy ride.
Like we said there were no problems until the next day 4 hours into the trip back home! Of course we know that the sea trial isn’t a joy ride!
Oh man, too many poorly done boating channels.
What are you saying?
