We don't normally repair black water but our guys were troopers and have gotten it cleaned with lots of bleach and dawn dish soap. Plus it gave us an opportunity to spray down the engine room so we could get to work on the thru-hulls.
I feel for the Searay owner. I have a new to me 25yr old Sealine boat I bought a few months ago. I've replaced almost every black water and fresh water hose because of noticeable cracking, replaced a leaking fuel tank, replaced zincs, replaced propellers that had galvanic corrosion, replaced trim tab motors that had corroded. This week, replacing canvas as it is brittle and tearing. Probably generator repairs next on the list. They are a labor of love at that age!
Oh boy, black water leak that boat needs a lot of repair and some good loving. And I think that outboard is about need to be totally replaced. I mean, the lower unit looks new or recently rebuilt, and how's Matt's trip going I went to respond to yalls last video, but it was totally gone
Yes we told the outboard owners to start looking for a replacement engine…. They just hope to extend the life a little bit. We took it down unfortunately! We froze up there … my lips got so chapped in 2.5 days 😩
@@WillFixThat oh man, yea, it's cold up here, and we are supposed to get up to 15 inches by Tuesday night. I would rather be some place warm right now, lol 😆
I imagine you do this a lot. I see tons of boats in the marina where nobody ever comes to check on the boat, they never get washed, etc. Then 5 years goes by and they call you to get it started. Luckily the marinas around here are so shallow, they're already sitting on the bottom anyways 😂
That would be amazing but nearly every boat needs parts! So we’d be waiting weeks to con’t filming. Yes, it’s a real struggle. Looks like you’re in the Marine industry… does that make sense?
@ he was trying to talk about the vessels bonding system. Which electricity ties all of the immersed metals together via heavy gauge cabling. That cabling, in turn is connected to one or more anodic plates that are below the waterline. These plates give up their metals to the more noble metals and so protect them from corrosion. When installed and maintained correctly ( rots a ruck ) they can also help deflect near lightning hits to the immersed metals they are protecting from corrosion. Note the word pick “near”. If a boat actually takes a hit it’s a goner. This is an example of how our workmen training and consumer know how has deteriorated. My description to you here is a most rudimentary one. The subject matter is nearly a career but at boatyard level is easy enough to grasp and manage. It’s actually fascinating.
Hi Chris I’m I’m on the Isle of Wight I have a sea ray 370 sedan bridge with twin Cummings can you tell me how I could get Cummins diagnostic software! Cheers
@edwardanderson2717 What year is the boat? Does it have the QSC 8.3L / 6CTA 8.3L? The diagnostic protocols are different depending on the year and model.
I am thinking working on these neglected large boats would require a LARGE deposit UPFRONT. Owners obviously have not been spending maintenance dollars because perhaps they are broke!
Definitely we rarely give estimates because too much can go wrong. Once people hear a number they have that set in their mind and have a hard time accepting when is much more. We also charge for insurance estimates.
Very disappointed. This is the 2nd video I have watched of his and the description and thumbnail do not match the video. This comment is not meant to be negative, just constructive criticism with hopes of improvement. I would love to watch these types of videos.
...."The owner is a GOOD GUY, so we try to Help him out as MUCH as we can."..... Right on the tail end of a not so nice owner, who chooses to be an arrogant asshole (I'm guessing)....his poor wife is all I can say & learn from your mistakes bub.
Got my flu shot 2 weeks ago at CVS. And my Covid booster 2 days ago. You and the wife have to keep up with that. Flu is going around and its brutal at our age as you found out. RSV next. Hope you feel better soon. Can't imagine being sick and in the bowels of a yacht. And don't throw anything away put it in a box that's labeled and put it on the shelf so you can see the label at a glance.
@@WillFixThat Says the guy who just got his ass kicked by the flu. Thought you were a sharp guy your a vaccine denier? Oh and got my Shingles shot too. They got a shot for that too. Watching you gives me an appreciation of how HARD that job is and how I'll NEVER question writing the BIG check!
Thanks! It’s not easy! People don’t realize the time it takes sometimes.
Another great episode. So interesting to see how much work goes into keeping these boats going. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks for sharing its a lot of work.
Get well!! Thank you for another informative video. I need to learn more about marine AC units.
They can be tricky … it’s taken Matt many years.
YOU DO A GREAT JOB 😊😊😊😊😊 I USED TO REPAIR BOATS 🚢 IN CALIFORNIA
Thanks for the feedback Richard! Not an easy job that’s for sure.

Yes busy … 👍
GREAT FAST MOVING WORK !!💥AUSTRALIA!

Matt moves fast even when he walks jobs to job. He leaves people behind if they don't keep up.
Great stuff Keri n Matt, always great content.
Thanks Richard. 👍
No rest for the weary! Hope you feel better soon😊
Much better now it took a few weeks.
Hopefully you're feeling better 😊
Yup Matt’s back to being his sassy self! Took about 3 wks to get better from the flu I got lucky and didn’t get it.
Kroil! Good man Sam! Great post!
Thanks BD hope he sees this episode he is in his 80’s! He said he has another package coming any day.
Thanks
You rock …. Appreciate you!
Great way to start my day and also the first day of December…..that Yamaha looked very neglected!
Thanks Tom … engine definitely needs love.
Everybody thinks it’s great to be a business owner . Until they see the owner working on sick days. Keep the videos coming. Love the channel
Thanks Doug …. Yeah Matt was feeling like crap but we keep it real! 😀
No, everyone thinks a business owner sits in the office with their feet up on the desk collecting money.
@@travcon8hopefully people can see that’s not the case with us! It’s hard work keeping it going.

Yup. The trouble with calling in sick when you’re the owner is the phone is always busy.😀

Hello from Siesta Key Florida
We've been sick for 3 weeks before feeling better and went to the doctor after 2 weeks of it
Ah Bill that sounds like Matt he had the flu for 3 weeks.
Thanks I'll have to watch some more videos
Thanks for watching sounds like you’re new here.
A tip from an AC tech, check the ohm reading at the capacitor, not at the comp,It checks the wiring for you, finds grounds in cabling.
Great tip will start trying to do that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Really enjoy your channel. Could you include more segments on outboards?
Yup just depends what we are working on.
Hi this is pretty neat you get to see the boat world 🌎🌍😅😅😅
Yes we see plenty of boats 🛥️
Megohming the compressor and start components on day one is part of a COMPLETE diagnosis and fixing it once correctly.
Heck of a job
Yup a tough one.
Man, I miss working on boats. Until my body reminds me of the 30+ years I spent crawling around engine rooms. 😆🤔
Its definitely not easy work.
So enjoy these Videos!
I would want a Retainer (money upfront) before doing any work on some of those salt encrusted boats!
It might get to that at some point.
That engine room is immaculate
The best ones to service
You should swap to fieldpiece probes, I ditched the manifolds about 7 years ago and never looked back.
Yes Matt has them too.
Good morning

The searay with the red fluid may not be from the transmission as the zf/hurth transmissions often have as per spec, engine oil in the box

How is the tuner
Haven’t got that far … recently discovered oil in coolant.
Matt the one thing I learned is don’t mix friends with business you’ll go broke. Get well soon
Agree … it can be tough servicing friends.
An easy project is never easy. They follow "Murphy Law" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Exactly Mike when they tell me it will only take an hour … lol it takes 5.
I find these videos a little bit choppy, it would be nice if you could follow just one boat per video start to finish in depth 👍

Lmao. Never fails. You don't need something until you throw it away.
Of course story of our lives right? Shop has all this stuff barely used then we need it.

Do you want the cummins diagnostic software? A nexiq link copy and cummins insight is all that's needed.

WE ALSO NEED A NEW AIR CONDITIONG COMPRESSER FROM A FLORIDA MGF ABOUT 4,000 4 TON UNITE OLD ONE MESSED UP THANKS GARY
We don’t install just the compressor… fail rate too high for what it costs the owner in the end.
Did it start??????!!
Yes and no had to get it towed.
Are we going to see the blackwater boat get started ?
Maybe we have to get engine guys to come hook up to it.
A lot of connectors are made in China. That's why this problem exists as far as Australia.
Interesting maybe true.
🎉
👍
so was it the corrosion or the oil seal lol manny man
Was the seal but corrosion doesn’t help. Will see how long it latest.
@WillFixThat confidence with the wrong diagnosis is something i strive not to do.
I am thinking working on these neglected large boats would require a LARGE deposit UPFRONT. Owners obviously have not been spending maintenance dollars because perhaps they are broke!
Just depends on what you’re comfortable with …. It’s important to keep up with maintenance.
Man I don't understand why people buy those big nice boats and don't maintain them regularly.
Because it takes time, money and effort!

Not at the boatyard.

Yes of course …. If you want one.
