Thanks. I should do bloopers because I actually had to switch out a couple because one was crying during a few takes and another one was trying to escape and giving me a hard time. I had about 100 birds to choose from in that particular batch so it worked out. You just never know.
Is there anything you do or is there anything you avoid to keep the roosters tails long? Before I put blinders in mine pretty much all of the bird pecked out each other’s tail feather and now none of the birds have nice tails. But I hear that they’ll molt their tail feathers in the summer is that true?
You have to put the blinders on earlier next time at 6 weeks. Also space helps. I use no less then 10sqft per bird and that is still almost not enough room. Yes they will molt in the summer and in time will grow back their feathers
@@sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 hey dude got acouple more questions for ya. So I forgot that you have to leave eggs stored pointy end down. I got eggs from the 23rd 25th and 26th and they all had their pointed end up. Will they be ok if I put the pointed end down now? Their going in the incubator in about 3 days. 2nd question. Can I use rubbing alcohol to sanitize the eggs before incubation and eggs that have poo on them is there any point in sanitizing or are they no good
@@landonsigouin8925 At this point I wouldn't worry about the pointy end down. Yes they should be, but you want those eggs in the incubator no more than 7-10 days after they have been laid. So if you are putting them in the incubator in 3 days then...well...just don't be surprised if they are not fertile. If you do clean the eggs my last resort is just use soap and water. I personally wouldn't go the rubbing alcohol route its not necessary.
For Ringnecks you can put them on any age over 5 weeks at any time. With other pheasants I would think you could do the same but I have only done ringnecks.
Hi Jon, yes I remember you. Unfortunately pheasants are cannibalistic and using blinders only minimizes cannibalism. Some people use blinders and some don't. Its all on preference.
Great videos !! I hope you make more of them.
Thanks Bob. I do plan to do more videos but I need to find a new video editor first since I can't use my other one. Thanks for the support!
You are doing great, why are your birds so calm?
Thanks. I should do bloopers because I actually had to switch out a couple because one was crying during a few takes and another one was trying to escape and giving me a hard time. I had about 100 birds to choose from in that particular batch so it worked out. You just never know.
Does blinders affect fertility if it but to males?
It doesn't affect fertility. I actually don't even put them on my breeder males.
Great Job!!
Thank you!

How long chicks are they?
What tepeture are good for pesant maximum?
My swinhoe male pheasent is aggressive towards the female so I want to put a blinder on him but only seen these with ringneckd
Do they have to be young to put them on? Also can I put them on other types of pheasents?

How long can the blinders remain on
As long as you want them to. There isn't a particular time frame when they have to come off.
How early can you put these on the birds
5 Weeks of age
Will they ever come.offf?
Yes, you can just cut the pins off.
Hey I got 15 7 week old pheasants from you jon Miller an they killed one an ate it completely
