    I'm running into an issue where once they are about a month old, they begin attacking one another with death as the eventual result. Most people will quickly attribute this situation to lack of adequate space but it happens when I have just 3-4 birds in a 4x4 foot pen. I'm not sure what to do as so much time and effort has gone into breeding my pheasants this year and I'm hitting a brick wall at the month old stage. They still seem too little to put in with the adults, as the adults will probably attack them. Plus I'm in Canada and springtime days and nights can be quite cool. Any thoughts?

      For the first 2 weeks 50-55%, and third week is set to 60,%. High humidity will soften the egg shell to prevent the chicks from having trouble breaking the shell.

    Is there anything you do or is there anything you avoid to keep the roosters tails long? Before I put blinders in mine pretty much all of the bird pecked out each other’s tail feather and now none of the birds have nice tails. But I hear that they’ll molt their tail feathers in the summer is that true?

    • @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115
      @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to put the blinders on earlier next time at 6 weeks. Also space helps. I use no less then 10sqft per bird and that is still almost not enough room. Yes they will molt in the summer and in time will grow back their feathers

      @@sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 hey dude got acouple more questions for ya. So I forgot that you have to leave eggs stored pointy end down. I got eggs from the 23rd 25th and 26th and they all had their pointed end up. Will they be ok if I put the pointed end down now? Their going in the incubator in about 3 days. 2nd question. Can I use rubbing alcohol to sanitize the eggs before incubation and eggs that have poo on them is there any point in sanitizing or are they no good

    • @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115
      @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@landonsigouin8925 At this point I wouldn't worry about the pointy end down. Yes they should be, but you want those eggs in the incubator no more than 7-10 days after they have been laid. So if you are putting them in the incubator in 3 days then...well...just don't be surprised if they are not fertile. If you do clean the eggs my last resort is just use soap and water. I personally wouldn't go the rubbing alcohol route its not necessary.

    To be a pheasant is like being incarcerated for life and then be put on death row. you are criminals. put a blinder on yourself and see what it feels like and then go to death row.

    • @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115
      @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do respect your opinion but lets think about this now, criminals? Most animals that are raised for food experience your kind of analogy. So if you personally eat any kind of animal then or use any products contained from animals then shame on you for making a statement like that. You are pretty much disrespecting most farmers just making that comment. The blinders are actually helping the pheasants from hurting each other and can be taken off.

    What do you mean by the different racks as being week 1,2, and 3? And how can you incubate new eggs whilst hatching other eggs?

    • @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115
      @sunriseharvestpheasantfarm9115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eggs are set every week. The 1st tray is one week. The 2nd is the next week and the 3rd tray is the 3rd week. Then the hatcher is like your day 21 tray for when the eggs are in "lock down". Everything is on rotation if you are setting eggs every week. When you have eggs in the hatcher the ones that are not ready to hatch stay in the racks. That's the beauty of this incubator. You can have 4 actual separate weeks in the same incubator.
