Thanks for sharing this video with me about Installing timing chains on 2015 and newer Wrx / Forester XT it was a very interesting video and thanks for sharing it with me my new friend and God Bless and thanks again my new friend.
I know this was made 10 months ago lol but I’m building the block and putting it back now. So for the 1st chain, you turn the crank with the the chain on the cams and crank to the diagonal position? And that lines up the cams? And after you rotate it back?
can you direct me to a video of someone changing the cam and crank seals under the pulleys. I am overthinking it because my subie has a chain and not a belt
Saludos colega bendiciones y gracias por el video . sólo una pequeña duda creo que debe girar el cigüeña en sentido del reloj luego de montar la primera cadena . me corrige si estoy equivocado por favor . gracias
@SubieTech 1.6L is timing the same for all BRZ/FRS/86 platforms? Asking because I'm planning on doing this as well very soon. Also, will I have to purchase 2 new "tensioners grenade pins" ?
One side of my cam sprockets won’t sit in its proper place for timing. The top cam jumps counter clockwise and the bottom cam jumps clockwise, the arrow won’t stay pointing at each other. How do you get them to stay in proper timing?
There is a service position with the crankshaft keyway facing 10 o'clock where the LH cams are unloaded. Put the chain on in this position using the links for timing.
Have you come across Cam gear failure? P0018 code, runs and idles fine? 18 WRX fa20 39K miles, Thoughts? replacement for cam gear would require chain to be removed and the 3 bolts to pull the cam gear of cam shaft itself and put new one on correct?
@@joseTorres-tn3pl Swap out the left and side camgear sensors, if the code changed to the po0019 i belive it is then your sensor is bad, if the code stays the same p0018 then the camgear has debris in it "material in your oil" or the gear has just failed, Recommend pulling motor to swap out so when you put cover back on you can get a good seal, You can do it with in the engine bay and not remove but it will be little tougher to be sure a good seal on the gasket itself, Let me know what you find out
James Manfredi i have p0017 fail code...just swaped small block. I cant find reason for a long time( Changed sensors - no success, same code. Idles are fine. Any ideas please!
@@subietech1.6 Good to know, I was thinking I'd have to at least remove the cat but that sounds even better, that would probably open up another can of worms with the cat to turbo nuts/studs, my CVT oil pump cover or TC seal seems to be leaking and I'd rather not be crawling around on the floor fighting with the cvt if I can help it. Have you done many reseals on the pump covers? How heavy are the cvts, too heavy for one man? Thanks
What was the reason this engine needed the chain replaced? Was there something else you were working on that required the removal of the chain? Just curious
The First Step of procedure doesn't show up to avoid piston and valve hit each other then tensioner is over tighten using gun instead of torque wrench just 7Nm.😉😎
I wish you would’ve shown the timing marks on each cam prior installing the first chain. Although overall you helped me out today! Thank you

Awesome video. I don't know what is happening here but it looks like good man work lol. Have a wonderful day!
Why did Subaru go with timing chains like this on certain model years, when they did and do use timing belts for all the others??

Does the crank sprocket mark have to be straight at 6 o clock ?? Or can it be 10 degree off ?
Does anyone know if you can run the forester 2.0 turbo engine in the 2015 wrx? The forester engine is half the price

Nice video man!! 🤜🤛

Do the pistons need to be in a specific order or top dead center before setting the chains? Please reply.. thanks
How many camshaft Sprocket on Subaru Forester
Some have 2 and some have 4 just depends

Do those tensioners have locks on them?

Hello , question , so u can go counter clock wise ?
Thank you so mutch
Odd question, but the knock sensors on this engine must be at a specific angle. I can't find what that angle is anywhere. any ideas?
hi how do you line up the two triangle i did mine 3x still they dont line up
👍👍
That engine stand gets put to use from you with all the engine repair you do.
Yes sir try and get them hours

Can you remove the motor on a 2017 Forester XT without removing the exhaust manifold/turbo etc?
Yes the manifold, turbo, and catalytic converter can stay on. But has to be disconnected from the rest of the exhaust.

I believe I was replacing the short block.
is this the same procedure for FB25 engine on 2011 Subaru Forester non-turbo? when installing chain?

Hello, please tell me what gaps in the valves should be on the engine FB20

Next time put the Camera on a Tripod, A lot of essential assembly was missed because the camera was shaky and pointed on the floor.

Yes you can do the timing cover and chains in car but just about anything else you need to pull the engine
