Awesome very detailed video answering all my questions and concerns. Your tour pages are also great. Will do the Underground tour for sure. Can't wait to check out your other tours for my once in a lifetime fall trip this year with my adult daughter.
Lovely video!! Thanks for sharing! We will be visiting in June this yr. We really want to stay somewhere central. Our hearts desire is to see the Colosseum and of course the Vatican and Sistine chapel. We'd love to taste all the yummy food and experience some adventure too. We are a family of 5. kids aging 18, 16, and 10. Where should we stay?? Thoughts and ideas?? Thank you in advance!!!! Amy
There is nothing wrong with going on Sunday, but you may experience increased crowds because the Vatican museums are closed on Sundays. So the recommended strategy is to go on a different day.
Thanks for all the great information. Do you know how to order the free tickets for children and where do we pick them up once we arrive at Colosseum? Any ideas if the line to pick up free tickets for children is very long? Not sure it's better to just buy the children tickets to avoid having to wait in line to pick up.
I, this was a good film made, but I would not book with this company. We booked the special access for an early underground tour of the Colosseum, and it was a fiasco. We were never told that you would need documentation to get in. Fortunately, I was able to find a photo taken years ago of my passport, so I was able to enter. But then, once we entered, our tour guide was not able to go in the underground to give us a tour because she herself did not have a ticket. So our group was left to wander in the underground by herself, and could not hear anything about the history of it or what certain areas were used for or told anything about it. It was so unfortunate to pay the amount of money we did to not get the tour that we signed up for. It very much felt like this was the first time they were giving the tour as again nobody was ever told to bring any documentation, and our tour guide was denied access because she did not have a ticket. Seems really fishy.
I was surprised that the underground tour wasn't even that hot. SO much of it is in the shade, and our guide Serena gave us plenty of time to sit and rest. it was a great day
Last week, I did the exclusive access tour of the Colosseum with Dario (of the Tour Guys) and had a great time. We started off in the Roman Forum, explored the Palatine Hill, then took the Via Sacra to the Colosseum, where we visited the arena and some upper floors. Dario was an engaging guide the whole time, despite the heat. And I certainly left with much more knowledge than had I visited on my own. I’d highly recommend the Tour Guy tours. And as always, fantastic video! Wish I could go back now!
We just booked the grand tour because of a video we found today on TH-cam! Can’t wait to see Rome ! My husband is on IG and he can’t wait to put our journey on his channel ! Thanks 🙏
Visitors are not allowed to enter with glass bottles, sprays, knives (even small ones) or scissors. No drinks are allowed either, apart from water - plastic water bottles are permitted. Big bags are not permitted inside the Colosseum, but regular day-size rucksacks are fine. There are no designated areas for storing bulky personal possessions such as suitcases or heavy backpacks, so if the staff at the entrance see you carrying them, you won’t be allowed in. Quite apart from the rules of the security check at the Colosseum, your tour won’t be quite as enjoyable if you’re struggling with luggage - so make sure you pack light!
I am trying to find a tour to take, but I read somewhere that you can’t enter the Colosseum with a backpack. Most tours start before we would be able to get into our hotel. Is it true I can’t enter with a backpack?

Yes, if you would like! While our tours of the Colosseum also include the Roman Forum and Palatine hill with your guide, you are certainly welcome to remain longer in the Colosseum and do the rest on your own. Just let your guide know at the start. For the best experience, I would suggest booking a private tour and you could end with the Colosseum. Update: I just did the Underground tour of the Colosseum. I didn't need to take a bag, so I didn't. However, many people had backpacks. It's no problem; just be ready to put your bag through the x-ray just like airport security.

That's crazy seeing all those people. I went in Feb 2022 in order to help spread herd immunity as fast as possible. Went to all the "hotspots" in Europe. But I was one of less than 20 people, including employees, inside the entire coliseum. A stupendous sight to experience. I recommend everybody travels Italy and anywhere in Europe they please.
