Porter about this song: This song is about being so in love with someone that, for the first time in your life, you’re scared of dying. You realise you aren’t guaranteed an eternity together. In the lyrics, I talk about going to find God to make sure she’s okay, and it makes me cry every time. I was bawling my eyes out in the studio, I could barely get the words out. In the end, though, it’s also an expression of gratitude, because the world is lucky to have her. Rika and I have been together four years, and honestly it’s really time for me to propose. But I wanted to wait until after the pandemic.

This one feels like getting a hug from someone you had a crush on, love, or just feel platonically happy with. Its like telling a person "everything's gonna be okay and enjoy the moment we're in. Don't worry about the past or future. We will see each other again one day. I promise" It's like a slow dance song you'd hear at a school dance after someone kindly asked you since you didn't have a date...I'd definitely use this as a wedding song.
My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. We love so much each other, and Porter's music created a true and meaningful bond between us, besides all we've been through during the past. We met 3 years ago and 2021 will be our 4th year together. He is literally the most wonderful person I ever met, we are, I would say, soulmates. As I read the lyrics, I couldn't stop thinking about the story they are telling, how I identify them to us. Thank you for this Porter, your music has always been and will always be a blessing for the ears.

I always cry so much hearing this song. It's so weird, sometimes music just trigger these such deeply emotions that always leave you so banged up. These kind of things really really hurt, but it isn't meant to. I imagine how cool it would be, returning to this song after idk 20 or 40 years, after having your live all settled up and just look back at everything it made you thought and feel.

Actually this was the line that made my heart melt, though the other line is lovely like that too, I haven’t seen anyone talk about this line yet! It’s like saying that the world is lucky to have you, you are a gift yourself... and that I hope that you can be so happy as to call the whole world your home... that is how I interpreted it.
I wanna play this while driving on a cool summer night as the sun begins to set. The windows down, feeling the gentle warm breeze as I look at my partner, loving them wholly.

Sweet Time is one of my favourite songs on the Nurture album and it's the song I've listened to the most on the album by a long shot. While a lot of people interpret the song to be about romantic love and that is the original intended meaning that Porter had for the song, to me, it's about a different kind of love. To me, Sweet Time is about the love that I have for my life and the very fact of my existence. It's so easy to get lost in the day-to-day happenings in one's life and all of the struggles and human problems that come with it that we can lose sight of just how incredible of an opportunity this existence truly is. When I find myself getting lost in this feeling, the lyrics of Sweet Time remind me to take a step back and appreciate all that life can be. There are so many things in this universe to find gratitude in and to feel love for, and as this is probably the only chance we have to experience it all, I feel that it's important that we don't waste this opportunity. With the message of the Nurture album being "Everything we need is already here", I feel that this interpretation is perfectly fitting.
Thank you Porter Robinson for creating this song which has genuinely helped me to love my life more in the last 14 months that I've known it. ❤

Sweet Time remains a beautiful and emotionally resonant track, I still frequently return to the song as a reminder to myself to keep finding gratitude and meaning in this existence. What an incredibly special opportunity that it is to be able to experience all that this life is, including this surreal occurrence of a seemingly inconsequential internet comment of mine making an unexpected reappearance in my life a year later. 💚

Makes me think about my kids every time. The day I met my first born son was the day I started to really understand what it meant to fear death. Before then I knew that fear as an animal would, fearing the darkness. As a father, though, that fear has transcended it's shallow origin and has become something both wonderful and devastating to grapple with.
Definitely the hidden gem of the album. Good job being an electronic producer capable of writing heartfelt songs. There are too few of those.
