      Awesome bike Steve, always liked the looks of the Canyon. It was only the steps 8000 motor that put me off when I was ready to buy last November. Bought the Whyte e150s, but this bike being available would have made my choice a lot harder 😉

    What a beautiful Machine. I want one. Just picked up a Commencal Meta Power SX Race a couple of days ago and I've already put 130km on it. Loving the Ebike part but not so in love with the ultra long, low, slack geometry. Trail bikes are more responsive and still plenty capable on gnarly terrain. I've got plenty of time to test it and get to know it so maybe that opinion will change but so far I just wish the head angle was steeper and it had less travel.

  • @Mockle07

    Handlebar - the other journos aren't complaining that they don't like the shape/height of the bar, they're complaining that it's not adjustable...and will now be a bit more of a pain in the ass to swap for one that they ARE comfortable with. I know Canyon are paying for this video (which I have no issue with, unlike many...) but come on guys, stick to the facts.

    • @stevejones7956
      @stevejones7956 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, you are absolutely right Michael, yes of course i get your point. It's certainly one for the pub that one, bars are a bit like tyres, pedals, seats, frames.....many of which cannot be adjusted. I too was very much of your mindset however on days where you have to adapt to changing conditions, the ups as well as the downs, the alongs and acrosses.... my 'opinion' had to be changed.
      Bikes win reviews where geometry cannot be adjusted, where software cannot be custom set. But an un-adjustable set of bars. Step too far that one. Fact.

    • @Mockle07
      @Mockle07 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevejones7956 Haha you should know Steve, when it comes to bikes and the internet, there’s no such thing as facts, I therefore retract my original request for you to stick to them! 😂
      Just to be clear, I don’t personally give a shit; I’ll ride a bike no matter what bars, tyres, brakes etc. it has, but I do see the ‘other’ journos’ point - it seems pointless to make changing the bars more awkward than it needs to be. Anyway, I certainly won’t be losing sleep over it.
      Did you get a ride on the whole new range or was it just the Spectral?

    Wow, stunning scenery and great video work. Top gear for emtb indeed. I’m in Scotland, so quite blessed already, but that certainly makes me wanna plan a trip to wales later this year!
    However, scenery more impressive than the bike I fear. I have an analogue 2018 spectral, and love it except fir one annoying pitfall. I’m just shy of 6ft with a short leg but can’t fit on a large due to that stupid seat tube height! I also own a large strive and large Jeffrey pro, both fine. I know I could go for a smaller dropper, but don’t want to! There are loads of folk I know who feel the same, cmon Canyon sort the spectral seat tube length out for folk like me who want a longer reach, looks like the Torque On or a YT Decoy is my choice, like 27,5 on the back after grazing my short arse too many times in the Strive at the edge of a drop! But the mullet may just tip it to the decoy.

      @@stevejones7956 cheers Steve. I love your videos anyway, so just keep them coming, I find this channel one of the very few credible ones.
      On Shimano further, I had bad experience with my E8000 failing multiple times due to what seems like a software issue, and paying a 1000 eur after just after 2 years...therefore considering a non-outstanding performance and this, Shimano failed for me...

    CF7 and lower (think they have the six back this time) has a normal stem and save some dollar. Tbh I have last years one and did a horrid 35 mile 2500ft ride in 2 deg C. I’m happy and £1000 less. The only thing that slowed me down was grip not the bike power. Love mine and I’m sure I’d like the new one as well. Get in large is perfection all mountain. (6’3”)

    Too bad they used the same geometry like last year. I love the looks of the bike and almost bought a CF9, but that headtube angle is just a big no no after getting used to 65 degree and lower. They should have used the geometry of the non ebike spectral with 64.5/64 degree. Guess I need to wait another year :D

      Totally agree. My guy from Canyon emailed me and said "new bike is here!" went to the site and its just the old bike with a different motor. I told him I'm buying a Commencal now and he didn't answer me.

    Great Welsh scenery. Juries out on the new Spectral...I, like others am not to sure about the integrated bar & stem combo. Is the bike a massive step forward compared to last years apart from the ep8 & bigger battery? I see the 2020 version is still available with the e8000 & better value so it would seem. I’d be tempted to get a 2020 & buy a spare battery....but as Steve stated it’s all about the rider & what you want from a bike.

      Same question on my end.... Sizing seems difficult. Never had an „L“ Bike recommendation with a height of 1,91m. What is your recommendation? Is the Canyon sizing table correct? Thanks !

    • @bradtrent5298
      @bradtrent5298 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 6’ tall, depending on your inseam, I’d guarantee you’re actually a Medium...not a Large. I’m 6’ with a 33” inseam and trust me, my Medium Spectral is PERFECTLY sized. I had serious doubts when the Canyon sizing calculator said I was a Medium, so I called them and was assured the Medium would work. Yes...it’s the largest Medium I’ve ever seen, but just enter your info into the calculator and trust what it says. 🤔

    What if you weigh 125 kilos and hope to pull a Burley COHO XC one-wheeled trailer that weighs 10 kilos with about 45 kilos baggage around the world. Are there different size motors, and can you have a Rolhoff 14 speed rear hub with belt drive? How much would that cost? Thanks for creating this video!

    This makes me kind of sad, pretty much last year's bike with an refreshed motor. and GMBN's just shilling. Video looked cool. Those handle bars are a bad move. no adjustment, so now I have to buy a bar, stem and figure out how to mount the screen.
