- I pitched my lavvu tent on deep snow in a forest with an ever-changing atmosphere. To keep warm and cook, I dragged a large log I found nearby next to my tent and drilled it with a hand drill to make a stove. You will watch a challenging and enjoyable winter camp in a deserted forest with snow, rain and mist. Thanks for watching.

According to written reports, this is probably how American explorers and trappers lived in the early and mid 1800s. Except they used animal skins for tent coverings, or some fabric covering.

@@mrbushcraftr Thank you. The Siberian Log Fire starts with one log, about 4 feet to 8 feet long (1.2 m. to 2.4 m.), and as wide as you can manage, given its length. Lay it down parallel with the wind. Get 3, 5, 7, or 9 logs, each about 6 feet to 8 feet (1.8 m. to 2.4 m.) long and about 6 inch to 9 inch (15 cm. to 22 cm.) diameter. lay them on the large log so their ends protrude over the large log about 12 to 18 inches (0.3 m. to 0.5 m.) toward your shelter. These ends should touch. The other ends should be fanned out, about a foot (0.3 m.) between them. Make a small fire under the protruding ends, feeding it until the ends all can ignite. The side of the large log will eventually ignite a little and burn slowly. The protruding ends will ignite and burn slowly. To make them burn faster, move the fanned-out ends a little closer together. To burn more slowly, move them further apart. The protruding ends will keep all but very heavy rain from putting the fire out. You can cook on the embers if you rake a few of them to the side, or you can cook over the gap between two of the protruding ends.
As the protruding ends burn up, scoot the logs a little further toward your shelter.
This fire acts like a radiator and will burn for a long time. I learned about the Siberian Log Fire from Lars --- Survival Russia You Tube channel. (Before Russia invaded Ukraine.)
