I actually bought the 34 inch version of this and love it. I had dual monitors before but this takes up so much less space and less cable clutter etc. Excellent review and I did not even know about the on screen control software from LG. I am not really a gamer so the 75hz and response time is not really an issue at all.
That's awesome. We did consider the 34 inch quite a bit. And absolutely for non gamers the 75hz and 5ms response time is not a big deal at all. Even for casual gaming it's fine.
@@RudyVisuals but ppi of 34in is only 81 and this one has 96ppi..so am planning to go with its older version wl500 B from LG website for 16700/- . What you think
We should be upgrading all Dunder Mifflin computers with ultra wides for more paper sales and higher work efficiency. I'll use it to edit my new movie Thread Level Midnight 2: Goldface returns!
Thanks for the detailed review of the LG 29WP500! Your insights as a TH-camr, video editor, and university worker are really helpful. I've been considering getting an ultrawide monitor for my home office, and your review has convinced me that this one might be a great fit. The extra screen real estate for multitasking sounds fantastic, and the price point is quite attractive. I do some casual content creation and general work, so it seems like a solid choice for me. Thanks for sharing your experiences! 🖥👍
Just perfect I can hook up my sound bar no problem my LG sound bar signature to my LG monitor widescreen I’m about to order this right now 🙂 this has saved me thank you i’m happy
Ultra wide screen is a game changer! I have a wide monitor, not as wide as yours and it helps a lot with my day job as well as editing video in premiere pro. I can relate to having Teams meetings and opening another window side by side haha 😆 Nice review Aaron!!
Very helpful video bud! Am looking to downgrade from 2 x 24" dual monitor set-up to one of these--mostly for daily productivity. They're going for NZ$300 which is a good price in my neck of the woods. I've had it with the bulky dual monitor stand set-up & how finnicky it is to try & align the 2 monitors perfectly. Thanks to your video I'm ordering & picking one up today.
I adore wide screens! I always loved them! I see you are very pleased with it! I love products that don't break the bank and this one I see you bought it with your own money so I guess you knew what you are doing. Seems a great item to have around the house. I used to use double screens like this one when I was working in the bank even though sometimes we actually had 2 separate monitors, tough old days ha,ha! Brilliant review, you guys are extremely professional and I like that about you! xx
You just helped me a lot with this analysis, with everything but specially talking about color as you did, since I'm a graphic designer im trying to decide between a proart asus made for color work calman verified or this one because of the real state it would be amazing form my worflow with adobe AI and ID but your opinion about washed out colors, I can already imagine it haha so I'm going for the proart but eventually I'll get an ultrawide, the upgrade for work looks amazing. thanks for your video
We switched to ultrawides and never going back. We have a 4k 3840×1600 Dell Ultra Sharp and it's fantastic although not cheap at all. This one looks like a great entry level option.
Thank you! I find videos is perfectly fine, just a lack of detail in blacks and shadows when compared to more expensive models. Text for normal use is great though, particularly on the 29 inch model vs the 34, where the text can appear more pixelated.
I am still stuck on a 24 inch 1920x1080 samsung from but with 120hz refresh rate. It's great for my needs but a friend of mine has an ultra wide and I am very jealous. This looks like a decent entry level ultra wide and LG make great screens!
Great review, Aaron. I’m currently debating whether to buy this to replace two Samsung 24” monitors for when working at home. Where did you get your monitor riser from?
Appreciate the review as these are quite hard to come by. I just ordered one having very small budget, hope that score (4-5 out of 10) won't come back to bite me in the tailpipe since I will use it for professional content creation 😳
Nice review Aaron! I don't know why, I could just never get one with ultra wide monitors, I'd take that GL850 over this one any day personally, but then again I work with my hands and only use computers for fun/gaming :)
Thanks for the review. I'm considering this monitor to replace a 1080 32" for the wife to use. I haven't made it into the shop to see yet, but wondering if the physical height is similar to a normal 24"? Have a 24" gaming monitor to sit alongside it so would be great if they are kinda same physical size. (as opposed to current 24"-32" pairing). Have seen the screen online here in Oz for $200 which seems a bargain for it (approx 100 GBP).
Hello after a year of using it do you find any issues or problems about this? Do you still recommend it for daily use? Thanks I'm planning on buying one of this I hope you can share your experience so that I can decide if I will buy it or not
I still use it in my office now. Still holding up well, I do wish it was a little brighter as my office can get very bright on sunny days but overall still a great budget option :)
Hey! I am quite used to retina screens and high refresh rates, but for just coding and watching videos, do you think this monitor will be easy on the eyes for me? Or should I go for a small (23) curved monitor with 144 Hz refresh rate? I do play a few games but it is not my priority for this monitor.
Hi there. Honestly for me it's really noticeable when you use a lower refresh rate monitor when you're used to 144 and higher. That being said, after about a day of use I do get used to it, especially if you don't plan on gaming on it. 75hz is still better than 60hz as well :)
Assuming you've used both 29" 21:9 & 27" 16:9 screens. Does the 29" widescreen gives off a larger FEEL to it than the standard 27" while tasking and consuming media, despite the less vertical working space and the difference in surface areas are negligible? Can you please share your experience?

Hi rudy, im looking for some suggestions. I'm in need of ultrawide, 29inch will be a sweep spot for me. Concerns are - they are mostly available in 2560x1080 resolution giving out 96ppi. 1. Will that be easy on eyes ? 2. at arm's distance is text pixelated ?. Are you able to read text (for 6-8 hours a day) at that distance comfortably ? Also, i'll be using it in grayscale mode and in split screen. so what options do you suggest ? Should i go for VA (as major use wll be in monochromatic mode) or IPS. Budget is a concern. Also, typing this from 15 inch 109ppi laptop screen. so u have an idea of the kind of upgrade experience i can have.
Hi Aaron, I bought this exact same model today after watching your review. Just wondering if you can share your icc color profile with me please? As I don’t have color calibration tool and am not happy with the color accuracy. Please buddy if you can share your color calibrated icc profile. Cheers!

Is it slightly curved at all? I've been thinking of getting a new monitor for productivity as well but still stuck with my tiny 13 inch laptop screen. I always hear people talk about refresh rate, is it really that noticeable?
I got an Asus TUF 27 inch monitor during boxing day sales and it's 165hz. Most normal screens are 60hz. Once you go triple digits, it's impossible to go back. Even just for browsing and moving your mouse you feel a huge difference.
It isn't curved, to be honest I'm not really a fan of curved monitors. Honestly, when you try a 144 or 165hz monitor, it's really hard to go back to 75 or 60.
Nice review dude. The price is really cheap for an ultra wide. I can see there is a cheaper 25 inch model as well and a bigger 34 inch model. Any reason you picked the 29 of those?
We've actually owned the 25 inch one in the past and it's okay but only 60hz and found it was a little too small to take advantage of the aspect ratio. We considered the 34inch but a lot of reviewers complained that the extra size is a bit of a stretch for the amount of pixels since it is technically still 1080p. 29 inch is a nice sweet spot for sure!
I've been told the 34 inch can look a little less sharp because you're spreading 1080p over more space and of course the extra cost. It depends if you want to sacrifice a bit of sharpness for more space :))
Good evening, I bought the monitor yesterday and I have a problem with the game it comes out right and left black and the game in the middle the same youtube
Hey Itachi (all hail the Uchiha clan!). You would need to go into the game settings and set the resolution to 2560x1080. Unfortunately for youtube the black areas will appear if the video is not ultra wide content.
Been using a laptop for the last few years... so nice to be on a wide screen monitor. This one's very sexy especially with that ultra wide range 😍 btw are you a big pokemon collector? Any slabs?
Would really recommend an ultra wide for youtube stuff, really useful! Yeah big time Pokeman collector, got a few slabs and 1st edition shadowless cards but nothing stupidly expensive!
@@RudyVisuals Ayeeee so cool! what are some of the stand outs in the collection? My friends are all super into it and a lot of them collect sealed product. I normally go over to their places and crack open their supply hahahaha. Only collect sports cards now but used to collect magic the gathering too.
I have this model too, but I noticed it has a slight tilt clockwise. Is it “normal” for its build quality or should I do something about it? Anyone with same experience?
@@RudyVisuals I disassembled it and saw no cracks or deformed pieces. But it has to do with the tolerances used to manufacture them. Although I put some thick scotch tape to reduce gap between the stand pieces. Now, now there is a difference in height of 5mm between one extreme and another.
The height of this monitor is same as 24inch-monitor. Is it causing any problems during programming all day? A 27 inch monitor is bigger in height than this. So I'm in confusion which one to go with.

I see a lot of gaming going on there! 😉 It was all a quick demo for the sake of this review, right? right? 😉😉
what is the game he was playing ?
Stardew Valley and AOE 2 :)
Planning to buy this but I'm confused which size to get, 29" or the 34". Any advise?
I've been told the 34 inch can look a little less sharp because you're spreading 1080p over more space and of course the extra cost. It depends if you want to sacrifice a bit of sharpness for more space :))
@@RudyVisuals I think I'm gonna go with 24". Appreciate the response!
Does this support vesa mount?
Good evening, I bought the monitor yesterday and I have a problem with the game it comes out right and left black and the game in the middle the same youtube
Hey Itachi (all hail the Uchiha clan!). You would need to go into the game settings and set the resolution to 2560x1080. Unfortunately for youtube the black areas will appear if the video is not ultra wide content.
@@RudyVisuals ok ty :)
Can this monitor display 2 sources (since it has 2 ports HDMI) simultaneously?
Hello. Did you buy this? Do you know the answer to your original question.

Not yet, still selecting...
The extra FOV would defo come in useful in CS such a shame about the refresh rate tho
75hz doesn't cut it for cs go IMO.
Does it have a built in speaker?
Yes but it is terrible.
Mine is perfectly straight, so it might be a factory defect =/
@@RudyVisuals I disassembled it and saw no cracks or deformed pieces. But it has to do with the tolerances used to manufacture them. Although I put some thick scotch tape to reduce gap between the stand pieces. Now, now there is a difference in height of 5mm between one extreme and another.
Can i watch 4k on this monitor?
Yes but it will be scaled down.
@@RudyVisuals thank you
And thank you for a great review!
The height of this monitor is same as 24inch-monitor. Is it causing any problems during programming all day? A 27 inch monitor is bigger in height than this. So I'm in confusion which one to go with.
information can be recovered digitally if you just blur an image to hide information since its non destructive. People could see your info, next time pixelate it.
pls answer i courently have a msi 144 hz curved gamin monitor 1milsec respond time... and im thinking about selling it and getting this!!
im just scared that it is a downgraid in th eand and that i will miss al the benefits!
i dont game anymore i need it for productivity!!
Honestly, if it was me I'd keep the msi, the higher refresh rate is just going to feel so much more premium even if you're not gaming.
@@RudyVisuals I currently have an MSI MAG301RF a 30 inch ultrawide 2560X1080 with a 200hz refresh rate ips with HDR great for gaming or video editing which I do both. I used have this LG monitor but the difference with the MSI is like night and day. Of course it costs a little more $270 on Amazon.
