Can you tell more about lg software? I work in a highly secured environment. do you need to download lg software?

I have a question whether this application is also suitable for streaming, that you can see the split screen of the game and one page of the OBS Studio chat program at the same time.
Unfortunately they lie about all these ultrawide LG's refresh rates. In theory they don't. Yes these monitors can give 75hz. But not in 2560x1080 res. Only in 1280x1080 res. Otherwise all you get is 60hz :/ It's a scam to write there 75hz. I mean maybe you can even write 90hz but only on 640x480. It's like a joke. This monitor has to work in 2560x1080. Not any single soul would like to buy this monitor and use it at 1280x1080.
Have you actually used one of these? I'm gaming 75hz on this monitor.

So if you play full screen in 21:9 the max refresh rate is only 60hz?
@@Dark_Wizard_of_Mu It depends on the model. My son's 29wq600 can run 75hz. But our old 25um57 and 25um58 only run at 60.
Yet again when you get used to ips and ultrawide, you dont want any other.
@@Spiderhip is the IPS and VA that much of a difference? I currently have the AOC C24g1 at 144hz 24' and it's a VA I believe. I'm planning to switch to a LG UltraWide 100hz 1080p since my PC can't hit over 100 fps in games anyway. Plus the stereo speakers would be useful for me even if they are bad. I just can't be bothered with speakers at the moment
Thank you for mentioning that the screen doesn't have built in speakers. I've spent over an hour today trying to figure out why I have no sound😭😭
Yeah it’s definitely not ideal, but given the price I guess you can’t have everything

So I bought this monitor as the second screen for my laptop. And I can't stop feeling that colors are off. Gamma is not natural, my dell laptop is doing much better job.
I saw you're making some premiere Pro work, so it should be important for you too. Can you please say, if you make some color and gamma settings change on monitor itself or on PC? I tried everything, but some contrast or smth else is still off. And it's ruining this monitor for me.
Yes I do find the colour is off when editing so if I do any colour correction I’m looking at my laptop not the monitor unfortunately

Fantastic review. I just bought the 34 inch version of this this week and I love it. It is absolutely changed my productivity level in my studio. But without seeing your video, I would not have known about the software app from LG.

Thanks so much for this review - I'm just one step from buying this but just have one concern in mind. I'm worried about the safe distance to view as I have very limited space which can't be adjusted. What's the viewing distance from you and your monitor for it to be comfortable and not eye-straining?

Great vídeo! Sorry for the complicated question, but is the 29WL500-b somehow different from the normal 29WL500? I found a store selling It for cheaper than others, but It has the "-b" in the ending of the name. Your video is actually the only one i found reviewing It
Answering one year later... I'm looking at newer model of this actually and it's why I'm here. Back to your question, the -B at the end of the model is for color. There are some models with -W which stands for white colored monitors.

Where did you download the OnScreen Control software?
On LG's site. I went here: www.lg.com/ca_en/support/software-firmware
Then I typed the monitor model number, and on the left hand side under Software & Firmware there was an option to download OnScreen Control

Hey, many thanks for the video. I'm considering to buy this one but also a bit hesitant due to the resolution (and potential aftermath with PPI score). I will also use it as a work machine and my workload is full of spreadsheets, powerBI and word documents, also my viewing distance is around 80cm. Does pixel density create any eye sore on your eyes when viewing for long hours? or is the pixelation irritating you during usage?

Review is excellent! Did not know about the software to control screens. My CD player hasnt worked in years. UPDATE: Picked up some wired speakers. If u can't hear sound right click on speaker icon in sys tray. Open playback, u need to disable the monitor inside playback options.
Just got the 34" version of this monitor and is great. Had dual monitor setup, but this takes up less space on my desk.

Yeah you need to do video calls on your laptop because there is no webcam in the monitor. So you’ll have to connect your laptop and use that camera or buy a webcam that can clip on top of your monitor

My current 23.8" isnt cutting it for productivity and constant eye squinting between main monitor and laptop monitor
My small desk size was the reason why I went with 29”. This size allowed me to have some space on the ends for a lamp and a cup of coffee/water. But if you have a large desk, 34” may be a better balance

DO you face any problem with reading text on this monitor? I've used AOC 29" and 34" monitors recently and have found that the text appears a bit fuzzy on them which over long use makes my eyes hurt. I wonder if the situation would be the same with this LG monitor.
No not at all! Everything appears clear on my end. Of course I get the usual eye fatigue after staring at a screen for too long, but the display is not blurry

I have a msi gaming laptop so I decided to extent my laptop but I can say screen is big but game screen is not that crisp, but for multitasking its great

So u can use the screen as 2 screens. So when i play a game left can do e-mails on the right side, just like u would have 2 screens.
yeah pretty much, you can have two different programs running on each side of the split screen

Can I ask something? If I am not mistaken you're using a HP 2013 UltraSlim Laptop Docking Station. I have the same system but there is no HDMI output in the dock. How did you connected to your monitor? By using conventer or something else? And in addition, I have one moe question if you're using a conventer. As we all know that VGA output doesn't support Full HD image quality, does the image quality of VGA bother you?

I have one, came here to say i would not recommend. colors and brightness are not good enough. my $200 16:9 monitor from 2015ish looks better.
Can you explain more? like are the colors washed up and brightness not too bright?
@@Dark_Wizard_of_Mu the colors we not as vivid and it was not that's bright. I now have a 3x more expensive Huawei from Costco and its a lot better.

Yes Zoom will allow you to share a tab or specific window (e.g. PowerPoint) - I've used Zoom and Mircosoft Teams and with the app you can have the meeting on one side with and share the screen that's on the other side. No issues at all

yes the HDMI cable is plugged into the monitor and on the other end i have it connected to an HDMI to USB adapter, which connects to my laptop

Hi, my office laptop doesn't allow for external software installation, can I install the lg's spli screen software in my personal laptop and then use that option when I reconnect my office laptop?
Hey! I am actually not sure since I have never tried. Given this is an application that helps with productivity can you talk to your IT team about allowing the software and adding it for you by remotely taking control of your computer? That is what I did
Does this monitor need any specific cpu specs or it will be working irrespective to cpu specs
If you game better make sure that videocard is AMD RX 580 + or Nvidia 1070+ because the resolution of the monitor is 2560x1080p. But for everyday use like school or browsing anu spec works

No issues with it being uncomfortable, but after I had it for a few months I did kind of wish I got the curved instead
