my Louisiana history teacher used to do a "freaky Friday" every week. Turns out the Ursuline Convent is the only building that hasn't burned down, been destroyed, or reconstructed in the entire history of the French Quarter. more than a little freaky if you ask me...
In a way that's sort of true. The original Ursuline convent was located just a block or two north of the St. Louis Cathedral, but it rotted in the weather. So the convent we see today was built in this alternate location. So technically, this building hasn't been burned down or destroyed or reconstructed, but it is in fact a replacement for one that was.
After watching entire video, Lalaurie sure wins the most creepy and most horrifying tale prize. Rest seems like usual "standard" violence or invented tales for entertainment purposes. Interesting that the original Lalaurie house was demolished back in the days already. I guess it was reminding people too much of certain things so they demolished the building rebuilt after fire because they could not stand to see the "monument" of what happened there. This story is really strong, no wonder it ended up in American horror stories series and probably being the most realistic and the most creepy one ever made.
Lalaurie was obviously a major psycho...I watched American horror series and you confirming those events made the matter even more creepy. Awesome video. Beautiful architecture. But horror that happened there makes you tingle.
Love everything New Orleans and love this architect -- could watch these videos all day long. And perfect timing with this NOLA most haunted houses episode!
I saw a nun on the balcony when I was walking along the sidewalk. Just took a double take and it was gone. I didn't know it was a convent 😮 how spooky😶
I will admit I stopped watching AD long ago due to the endless celebrity house tours, so this "Tour with an architect" is new for me. I hope this is a series because I will watch the ever loving sh*t out of it!!
Ok so a piece of the arch was brought there in the 1930s. A piece to Massachusetts in the 1700s. There must be a piece in Ukraine… ohhhh there must be four pieces and the fifth element is the one that puts it together… holy holy holy… 😮
Please have Mr. Robert host a series about New Orleans’ restoration projects! ❤
He goes by Robby. That’s what everyone called him when I took his New Orleans Architecture class at Tulane.
Agree, this would be great!
I could listen to that guy talk about New Orleans for hours, simply fascinating.

Don’t who I can thank at AD for this because this was specifically made for me.
You had me at “vampire nuns”!! 😮🙌🏻
Haunted history is always a fun topic. The added architectural details just made this my new favorite AD content.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Perfect episode for the month of Halloween, I see what you did there AD 🎃🎃🎃 I just love this man's passion and his accent is so charming!
I love how he still tells you the haunted tales but then just says, nah, ain't haunted, here's fascinating architect facts! I love it.
What a fascinating video. Thank you so much for sharing. I love New Orleans and it's fun to hear all the different stories.
he needs his own series! 👻
Ok I’m going to need one of these for ALL major cities. Loved it!!
More video with this guy please!!!!! I couldn’t stop listening to him. So fun and energetic personality
The credibility of all New Orleans’ ghost tours blown out of the water! 😂
This guy knows more about New Orleans architecture than I do about everything else put together!

Moonlight manure, lol! Enjoyable presentation there, thank you :)
This was so interesting and perfect for spooky season. More please.

Architect Robert Cangelosi giving Shaniac vibes and I'm here for it! I could definitely listen to him talk more - please invite him back!
My mom lived in the french quarters in the 1940s and said one of the places she lived had a spirit bothering her and her roommates for a while.
New Orleans architecture is so beautiful ❤️
You gotta have Robert host more episode for AD. What a guy.
Great Video. I would love to see a video on how New Orleans is doing after hurricane Katrina in Aug. 2005.
So interesting! I thoroughly enjoyed that. Thanks!
Merci beaucoup pour cette visite historique !
Passionnant !
such a great narrator!
Excellent tour- one of my favorite cities!
Just absolutely amazing!! 10/10
Loved this!!
Fascinating…. So much history
Noooo! The video ended too soon! 😢 This was so interesting, please do more
Thank you so much for sharing about our lovely city!
Thank you. This was fun. And New Orleans has more culture per square foot than most whole states have at all.
Best AD video ever
Great architectural historian!! Very impressed
More haunted tours please!
Fascinating! Thank you.
I wish i could like this video 100x!
So interesting and entertaining
The garlic part of the mob ghosts 💀💀
Sometimes the real story is actually more interesting than the legend.
Very interesting!
Could you do a walking tour of Charleston, SC and Savannah , Georgia?

THE ORIGINAL VAMPIRES LIVED HERE
I will admit I stopped watching AD long ago due to the endless celebrity house tours, so this "Tour with an architect" is new for me. I hope this is a series because I will watch the ever loving sh*t out of it!!
The priest at the Cathedral sounds more like a resident saint than a ghost.
We need more haunted content..
Yah AD Halloween show!
Lived there for two years, definitely haunted
Absolutely love this and it has 666 upvotes atm.
I was so confused by this because in Germany I grew up pretty much only eating white asparagus
St. Denis!
If there’s a haunted house in the us, I thought it’d be plantations where slaves were forced to shed their sweat and blood.
What about Marie Laveau and Pierre Lefete?
Started the video and I could have sworn John Mulaney was the narrator of this episode.
i love my city
anyone else find this video after watching 'Cloak and Dagger'?
I can see why Klaus Mikelson settled down there now.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS

Is Robert's accent indicative of a native New Orleanian?
Yes
A +++++
That’s saint denis
1932
🫣
wrong person to tell this story haha he sounds unimpressed with the 'vampires'
The French and Indians are so so so similar which is odd
So basically nothing is haunted. It’s a scam their haunted tours . 😂
I'd be worried about whoever came up with the creative torture for the Spanish soldiers. That was much to detailed. 🤔🫣
