    For tuning, I was taught pencils. What do you do if your pencil is flat? Push it in to the pencil sharpener. What do you do with a flat flute? You push it in. What do you do when your pencil is sharp? Pull it out of the pencil sharpener. What do you do when a flute is sharp? You pull it out. Didn't know if you knew of that one!
    Also, I love the C# trill key option! I always have wanted that option. I tried a flute with that and the split E and fell in love. I love mine even more though

    + Bevani , Your “flutorial” was absolutely enlightening. I especially liked the way you taught in knowing how to remember when an intonation is lowered or raised. As a side note, however, as for me, I always use a flute stand instead of laying my flute down on the opposite side of the keys as you suggest.
    By the way, I noticed the balloon commentary on the upper left side of your video about always brushing one’s teeth, and washing one’s hands before playing the flute. I couldn’t agree more! This is an excellent preventive measure when playing any reed, woodwind and brass instrument. Keep up the excellent work; and I always look forward to your next video.

    Another great video. As a trained musical repair tech you did a great job explaining how and why an instrument should get looked at and how to take care of it. If you take care of it well it should save you money in the long run. FYI - Sticky keys = Sugar in your saliva, so important to have a clean mouth before playing.

    Very helpful and great tips! But, I don't know if its the same for anyone else, but the background music is a bit distracting. But that's fine, I just thought maybe you should know? Thanks so much for all you do!

      I know..... I've heard this from others. I was just starting my tutorials and didn't realize how this might affect people watching and trying to really listen to what I'm doing. Doh... live and learn. From now on I don't add music to the background when I'm teaching.

      @dear_totheheart 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh great! I totally like the idea of the calm background music too so I'm sure it's a nice idea in theory :) But yeah, they've all be excellent and I've learned so much from you so thanks a bunch once again!

      +Bevani Flute What if your crown fell off and you lost it... can you make a video on that or tell me info about it please!

    • @bevaniflute
      @bevaniflute  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Julia Finn Hey Julia, it's not a huge deal if your crown falls off - it won't affect the sound or anything. It's more for the aesthetics of the flute - it just looks better : )

      Bevani Flute Thank you so much for telling me! I'm so glad you replied! It's a relief to know that I dont need to beg my parents to buy me a crown! Thank you! Your so good!

      +Bevani Flute the crown is actually super important, and it does affect the sound of the flute.

    So, as a beginner, the flute headjoint is not set to seed into the flute body at the proper interval by pushing it all the way in?

    What do you feel is the best absorbent cloth to clean the inside of your flute. Gauze or silk or flannel? Also have you ever used a flute flag or do you prefer the rod and cloth?

    • @bevaniflute
      @bevaniflute  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a silk cloth with a rod. This is my preference!

      I have a flute flag and LOVE it. It was a splurge (they aren't cheap) but I thought my new flute was worth the extra expense. Easy to use and no regrets.

    When I first got a flute at the end of 8th grade (it's my second instrument), I did a terrible job of taking care of it. Parts of it are actually brown... I'm embarrassed to let my flute friends see it. Fortunately it wasn't an expensive flute, some cheap thing off amazon. Was good to learn on, but I'm hoping to get a new one now and do a better job taking care of it

    My flute is changing colour, how should I deal with it?

    Bevani, do you have to use key oil or joint oil for your flute? I find it hard sometimes to twist on and off the foot joint from the body of my flute

    • @bevaniflute
      @bevaniflute  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jodie Yu Yes, I use rubbing alcohol to wipe the foot joint and the inside of the flute body. Make sure to twist it on and not push, that should make it easier too ;)

    • @jocelyn_creates2905
      @jocelyn_creates2905 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks! I'll try that

    • @flutechannel
      @flutechannel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jodie Yu Oiling the joints can be a bit tricky and could gum up the flute, cause the flute to stop working. Lubing and cleaning the flute inside is generally fine just use any liquid sparingly.

      +The Flute Channel I used Key oil on the first piccolo that I ever used which was a beat up thirty some year old Armstrong and it ended up messing up the pads :)

      Feldion Thyme Aragon there are special sheets you can buy from music shops but some people like cigarette paper

    • @kelleysmith7878
      @kelleysmith7878 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The paper hair stylists use when rolling hair for a perm. Much cheaper than the special sheets at music shops.
