It's not a trilogy. There are four movies (so far) in the 'Bourne' series starring Matt Damon: 'The Bourne Identity', 'The Bourne Supremacy', 'The Bourne Ultimatum', and 'Jason Bourne'. All four are excellent.

    • @joeberger3441

@@grubby124 technically you're correct but i think "Jason Bourne" kinda breaks continuity a bit, since it happens 10 years later and tells a different story. Whereas the first 3 are one continuous storyline with their own conclusion.

    • @grubby124
      @grubby124 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@joeberger3441 Hello Joe, and thanks for the reply. You're correct in that it does occur some time in the future, but it does still continue the Treadstone storyline and closes up some final loose ends on that.
However, that being said, it's still Jason Bourne in top form, along with one of the most spectacular car chases ever. For me, that puts it right in there with the original three movies. However, that's just me.
I was sad to see Nicki Parsons (Julia Stiles) leave the storyline, but Tommy Lee Jones makes a fine villain, and I'm hoping there will be a future installation that will expand on the role of the new head of the C.I.A. and what changes she might make. There are some interesting new directions the whole series could take if she does indeed end up as the new boss.

The Bourne series are four of the best spy/assassin movies ever. Thanks for doing this series and refreshing my memories. Next up is 'The Bourne Ultimatum' and then a fourth one titled simply 'Jason Bourne', and what's even better - 'Jason Bourne' leaves open the possibility of a 'Bourne 5 coming out in the future. Bourne used his passport in Naples because he deliberately wanted to pop the alert with the CIA so he could connect to them and find out what they were doing. He chose Naples because he knew it was a large enough place to have a CIA field office but a secondary one probably less well staffed with lower grade officers than a major city, which made it easier for him to defeat them, learn what he wanted and then escape. They don’t make mistakes. They don’t do random. There’s always a plan.

One of my fave roles of Urban's is as Detective John Kennex in 'Almost Human' television series (2013),' set 35 years into the future when cops in the L.A.P.D. are paired up with lifelike androids. The series only lasted one season of 13 episodes but still worth the watch.

cant wait for you to see number 3 "ultimatum" . all the fighting skills you see are based on "cali", a phillipine martial art based on using your surroundings and what is available. look for dvd special features for more info on matt's training in that skill for the films. john wick is a similar character in a different paradigm.

Great fun following along with you on Supremacy. I think you will love Ultimatum even more as it has (IMHO) one of the best foot-chase scenes ever done in film. And even though the 4th film is a bit of a step down, I think it's still very much worth watching as it is the most "modern" of the films in terms of technology.
I am glad someone mentioned Three Days of the Condor. A great film from the 70's, very fun to look back what was considered "leading edge" stuff at the time. And keeping with Redford, Sneakers as mentioned is an excellent and funny spy-type thriller.
And finally, so pleased you were blown away by The Game. I think it's one of David Fincher's (Se7en) most underrated films.

Oh, you must see, "The Bourne Ultimatum". It's the best of the three (IMO). Also, and at the same time line as Ultimatum, is the movie, "The Bourne Legacy". While it isn't about Bourne, it's about the newest programs that came after Treadstone and Black Briar. It's an excellent film starring Jeremy Renner, and there are references to Bourne and what was happening in Ultimatum. And finally, the movie, "Jason Bourne" with Matt Damon, and the final film (so far) of the series. While not quite as good as the others, it sure isn't bad and very entertaining and suspenseful.
As far as other spy thrillers, "Three Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford was outstanding. The other movie that I think is superb is, "The Conversation" with Gene Hackman. That's a movie well worth watching and I don't think it has been reviewed by any TH-cam personality that does what you do. That, I think, is a shame.
Anyway, that's my list. And keep doing these movie reactions. You're quite excellent at it!

A few have pointed out Karl Urban's involvement but it should be noted that the Munich operative Bourne fights is played by Urban's LOTR cast-mate and fellow Kiwi Marton Csokas, who plays Galadriel's hubby Celeborn. Csokas can also be found in Crusader flick Kingdom of Heaven alongside another LOTR alumnus, Orlando Bloom.
Also I heartily recommend Ronin and its cracking car chase which made driving home from the cinema afterwards feel extremely weird.

One of the really cool things about this series is that the stories from the books are nothing like the movies. The books are great, the movies are great... they're just very different and this is one series that you can't say "the books were SO much better"... because there can't really be a comparison. Some of the names are the same, some of the locations are the same, but that's pretty much it. Worth the read if you like spy thrillers. Robert Ludlum is the author.

Great reaction, Jen. Yes, please do more 'Bourne' at the very least 'The Bourne Ultimatum', other films along a similar line which I recommend are: 'Salt' with Angelina Jolie, 'Three Days of The Condor' with Robert Redford, 'Narrow Margin' with Gene Hackman, and of course there are the 'Mission Impossible' films with Tom Cruise, but that's a long series which is possibly best to leave until you're well into the 'Bond' films before tackling.
