AND if you have, see the buzz of Apple TV's adaptation of Stephen King's Lisey's Story, see the cast! I totally think he could do a remake (though who would want that) with his likeness to George Lazenby! AND his likeness if he did a bio to both/either Jack Kerouac and/or John Steinbeck! Nicki's smile is an awesome non-verbal ending. Just like Tom Cruise's chuckle at the end of "Edge of Tomorrow"
Desh pulled a Bourne move. He threw a harmless bag on the ground, so Jason tried to stop Daniels' car, lining it up with the actual bomb, which was further back.
It was clever, but I wouldn't call it a Bourne move. Bourne's training was geared towards eliminating targets while minimizing exposure and collateral damage. Black Briar agents are apparently trained to eliminate targets regardless of exposure or collateral damage. They're more flashy, but at the same time it also makes them more expendable.
@@robertbryant4669 Pretty sure by "Bourne move" OP just meant he thought as Bourne would think, one step ahead of the opponent, which is how he managed to both take out his target and outsmart his tail.
Remember seeing this in the theater and being blown away…the pacing, editing, excitement, it was all sensational
Well, the overuse of shaky cam was a bit annoying.
Remember seeing it in theaters and getting legitimately motion sick from the hackneyed Greengrass Camera Waving.
@@andreasvogler1875 the shaky cam use in Supremacy was worse. I hated it when watching it in the theater. Thanks goodness the shaky cam wasn't as bad in Ultimatum.
That stunt where the camera followed the stuntman across the building and into the window was amazing 👏
i watched a video back in the day that showed how they did it there is literally a dude right behind the stunt man with a camera making the same jump
Jason Bourne was one of the first characters in spy literature to use the idea of a supersoldier using enhancements of different types, phycological drugs to increase reflexes etc
Probably one of the first characters in mainstream literature, but the book came out in the 70s, and those ideas aren't very new. There's subplots in several James Bond films and novels, and James Bond was created in the 1950s. Captain America is actually a superhero who was enhanced to a great degree and he came out in the 1940's, and he actually did operate as a spy when necesarry in some of those old comics.
There were some other stories from the 60's and 70's which touched on that idea but it was definitely influential.

There are several references to the first movie here. The passport Bourne used was shown in the first movie, and he quotes Clive Owen's character at the end, as well as being shot and jumping into the water.
Yeah, we end with Bourne in the water, just like we began--but this time he starts kicking.

Addie's joy watching these Bourne movies is infectious. Made me dust off the Blu-Ray's to go back and watch the first three all over again.
31:00 I believe he agreed to be tortured which helped to break his mind and made it easier to control but the real "experimentation" happens more in "The Bourne Legacy" with Jeremy Renner.
I interpreted it a little more like Addie saw it, that he became reluctant and they pushed him with the torture. They do say he "submitted," if I remember correctly, which is not the same as volunteering. But this is a bit ambiguous.

It just goes to shows there's no limit how far you can go when you have the ability to batter the very souls out of people using household objects!
What makes movies great is when we get involved with the characters and their lives. I went into #1 with doubts about Matt Damon playing the role, but they were resolved in the 1st fight scene. Matt obviously worked his butt off, not only getting in great shape but training as well for the weapons handling and the close quarters combat. Another great reaction Addie, Stay safe and well.
Please watch the next two! I know some people don't like them but it helps wrap up the whole story and I still think you'd like them.
I'm hoping for at least one more Bourne movie. But what would be amazing would be if Bourne's character met and worked with Renner's character --- that would be dope!

Bourne submitted to the torture. He understood what was required of him. The brief said he had to be broken mentally and physically so he could be remade into Jason Bourne. All traces of David Webb had to be gone, including from his own memory. He was not unwilling in the process.
Addie: No one's safe in this one ... Besides Bourne.
I wish I was watching with her, so I could mention that he's not in the next one.

@elishawilson5342 She clearly had a personal relationship with Jason/David that was qualitatively different than her relationships with the other "subjects." That's why she has that line about this having been more difficult for her because it was him. They could have simply been very good friends, or maybe just flirty, but whatever their relationship was, it was unique and special to Nicky.

Your excitement totally makes watching the Bourne series so much more enjoyable. These movies are something I enjoy watching a couple of times a year. Great job Addie, you are so entertaining.
I love the way you watch movies. You're so enthusiastic and animated. I believe these get progressively better. They're all great but like you said the story unfolds slowly and in the right manner in my opinion.

There are two more films after this one. Don't discount them. They're also very good.
It's not the ending
The Bourne Legacy, while not really considered part of the series by some fans, give more backstory for the series as well as more info on the headaches and the pills mentioned in the first movie.
My take on Jason's attitude towards the training. Remember that it was experimental, and Jason was the first. He had, indeed, volunteered, but the untested methods were 'off,' and Jason started to resist. They doubled down and pushed him through it. By the end, he became what they wanted, but imperfectly.
The arc is great, starts in the water, ends in the water.
There's a fourth one that came out about 9 years later it's literally called Jason Bourne if you want to check it out
“JASON BOURNE” reveals the ultimate betrayal. then the lBOURNE LEGACY” is a cool extra movie in the bourne universe that intertwines directly with the other bourne movies.

The original Bourne triliogy in my opinion is the best action thriller assassin movie series ever. No disrespect to John Wick, the Equalizer, James Bond and others, but Bourne is the best.
Ultimatum rightly won the Best Editing Oscar. That sequence in Waterloo is like a film school masterclass in assembling footage.
Albert Hirsch was played by Albert Finney who played Kincade in Skyfall.
in the 2016 movie you get the rest of his past memories so it's definitely worth watching Jason Bourne, it also has Tommy Lee Jones in it, great actor!
Of course the action sequences and plot are really fantastic, but I think the movies are also so great because of the emotional content wrapped up in Bourne’s character (as well as the other agents, as we see with Clive Owen in the first movie and the assassin that ultimately refuses to shoot Bourne at the end of this movie). And because it is so well scripted and acted you really feel it. Without this emotional content the movies wouldn’t work anything like as well as they do.

In the book, David Webb was "all-in" for the Treadstone operation. He volunteered.

This was "the end" for years. So "we" didn't know if Bourne would survive until the "smile" and the moving in the water. Heck we didn't know they would show him swimming off or if they'd leave it open.

Will you be stopping after the trilogy or continuing with the Bourne Legacy or Jason Bourne? Personally I enjoyed Legacy but many discount it for using agent Aaron Cross instead of Bourne...

Don’t miss Bourne Legacy, although Matt Damon isn’t in it, Jeremy Renner was good but more importantly, it will give you more clues to Bourne’s story . You’ll find more pieces to the Bourne identity puzzle.
Superb. I think I still just slightly prefer 2 to 3, but this has probably my favourite sequence (waterloo station),
and a perfect 'full circle' ending: "Look what they make you give" + getting shot and falling into the water, how it all started

Ah I remember a lot of complaints about this movie, and many other movies at the time, for the "shaky cam" trend that was going on for a few years. I'm soooo glad those days seem to be over. Can't tell what's happening in the fighting sequences when half the screen is a blur. Could you imagine John Wick with shaky cams?

Fun fact. Some of the puplic and very crowded scenes like the trainstation "Tie your shoo" were mostly NOT actors hired for this film. Just everyday people passing by. Watch behind the scenes on how they recorded everything if interested. Interesting stuff.

Addie, I'm excited for you! Yes, you are going deep into the Bourne Rabbit Hole! Hey, don't forget to watch "The Bourne Legacy", with Jeremy Renner. It's a Bourne Universe film, basically a different part of the same Black Ops program as Jason Bourne but in a different location -- running parallel with Bourne -- and with a different agent, Jeremy's character. It's got Rachel Weiss in it (I love her!), Oscal Isaacs, and Ed Norton. It's a great part of the expanded Bourne Universe that I am sure you will love!
There are others after this but the next one with Matt Damon is Jason Bourne (2016).

I read the books as they came out, and each one left the reader hanging, and I couldn't wait for the next..........just like the movies!
I now have Alcohol poisoning because I took a drink every time she said Bourne.
One of the few action/thriller films where the hero actually chose to go down the dark path. If it wasn’t for his amnesia would he have chosen to become good? I don’t know but all I know is these first three Bourne films are amongst the best action thrillers ever! Just a matter of where you rank them.
A final mission reaction, Addie, I think you must: JASON BOURNE.
And if you wish, a surprise side quest: The Bourne Legacy. I won't say more just for the brief surprise of who and what. 'Nuff said.
They wisely gave us bits and bits just like Jason was getting bits about his past. They took us ang with him and it's acted so well that you can't help but get invested. You should also check out Matt in The Investment Bureau with Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) -- I think it's right up your alley.

The music at the beginning reminds me of the music in Men in Black.
"I didn't know that was possible." It isn't, they used tethers and removed them from the film using post processing effects.
The next one The Bourne Legacy, happends in the same time period as Ultimatum. They are simultanious movies.
I just wish they had ended the film on the musical "sting" and Nicky's smile. IMO, that would have been a much stronger ending than showing him swimming away.

Heckuva lot of fun watching these reactions but it's _very_ much diminishing returns from here IMO. A nigh perfect ending (for me). Nicky's knowing smile, "Look at what they make you give", recreating the opening shot of 'The Bourne Identity' with a "body" in the water (but _now_ he emerges as David Webb) etc. Just really beautifully brought full circle as a complete narrative. Didn't need any more.
(the way I always put it is, when doing press for this movie Matt Damon was asked if they'd do another to which he laughed and said something like "What would we call it, 'The Bourne Redundancy' ? No, the story's done" - I thought then, in 2007, that was one of the most astute, self-aware things i'd ever heard an actor say in an interview and having seen 'Jason Bourne', well, I _still_ think that :)

I really like this whole series, although I have yet to see Jason Bourne. Not sure if it was based off one of the books. Great reaction and excellent use of the end scene in Supremacy to have it actually placed in this film as a great little twist.

The books are way different than the movies. Don't get me wrong, I love the movies, they just updated them for the modern day. The books take place just after the Vietnam War. David Webb was living in Vietnam and wife and kids were strafed by a North Vietnamese jet as they played in the river. This lead him to wanting revenge and joining the CIA to get it
In the second book, Webb's second wife is kidnapped, and Conklin helps him track her down.

You were Quire Hyped for this one. I feel like you'd like Red or The Whole Nine Yards if you like this. Spy Game is also good and a personal Favorite. The Recruit is also good. All CIA movies... which makes me think of another couple Jack Ryan movies like Clear and Present Danger and Enemy of the State.
There is a continuity error. In IDENTITY, the Brazilian passport read Gilberto Du Piento, correctly in portuguese. Here they have changed it to Gilberto De Piento, incorrectly, in spanish(?).

This movie came in full circle, closing a fine trilogy.
Now it is time for The Bourne Legacy, it will give you the backstory you're looking for, NO Matt Damon, but insane action, a love story and a how to guide if you ever find yourself on the run. It's the one I've watched over and over. Even if you don't review it, it's worth the watch and you wouldn't have to wait, watch, react, edit, post or monitor analytics. You could just enjoy it.
You should watch Jason Bourne's best undercover mission in the Eurotrip movie.
If you like these movies, You’ll also like the first season of “REACHER”. The Tom Cruise movies where he p,has Jack Reacher are pretty good too, but he doesn’t really fit the book series description of Reacher at all.
