      Those old Torinos could dip into the high 12"s with very little work. I remember a certain guy with an LS-6 Chevelle that spent half a summer trying to best sn ol Yellow Torino with the Drag-pak option.
      He spent the other half trying to raise enough loot to rebuild his engine.

      Dan Myers I was thinking a little higher like 6300 give or take but 7500 no way. I’ve got a big block ford in a 50 f1, and this thing is built and I don’t come any where near 7500, tops is 6900. Also standing on your brakes doing a burnout is lame, any mini van will do the same, if your not heating the tires for a serious run it’s just stupid.

      @@5.9manualzj Thanks, I saw you are messing with a 5.9 Magnum Jeep. Car Craft Magazine listed my car as one of the top ten budget builds of the 2018 Hot Rod Power Tour because I put a 5.9 Magnum in my 68 Satellite and have been daily driving it for years. It has a 4 barrel Holley carb and air gap intake replacing the stock EFI with a lot of custom home porting on the carb and intake both. It also has Hooker headers and a badass cam and valve spring kit with Cloyes double roller timing chain and tensioner from Hughes Engines in Illinois that specializes in Mopar Magnum performance. The cam was selected by Dave Hughes himself to perform as good as possible with my setup. The engine turns over 6K RPM, makes over 400 HP and 450 TQ and pushes my "big" old car to 8.61 in the eighth mile with sub 2 second 60 foot times which puts my low compression home built junkyard small block in the same ballpark as a lot of supercharged modern muscle cars like the factory supercharged 650 HP 2018 ZO6 Corvette which is only about a half a second away depending on who's driving it. I also have a NOS 100 shot kit put away for it too but I want to get my tune as close to perfect as possible first to reduce the chances of catastrophic failures.

    • @5.9manualzj
      @5.9manualzj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Impactjunky Hell yeah. That all sounds really sweet! This old Jeep was my first car. Came as a 5.2 base model Laredo. I swapped a 5.9 in because the first engine was trash from the previous owner, and eventually down the road, looked into a whole manual swap. these never came as V8s with a standard shifting transmission. Its rare enough to find a manual with the 4.0, which was produced briefly from around 93-95, but a few other similar vehicles of its time came as manuals with a Magnum V8, in my case, it was the Dodge Dakota. The Nv3500 from specicially 94 Dakotas had the shift tower 7" backward for some reason, and was difficult to source, but fit the closest to stock without any modifications/fabrications aside from the crossmember. it bolted right up to this 5.9 with average parts store parts. It's not the fastest, but it sure does motivate, and its a lot of fun to drive. nothing beats a V8 with manually shifting gears. I love old stories like this because it feels like real racing is all dead now, and everyone just owns a hellcat these days. back in the day, there were still ways to be fast & have fun & be a local legend without having to street over 800hp

Just look at the Bore Spacing, Deck Height, Enormous Room in the Bottom End.
