I love moto camping. And my favorite part is dining after a long day of riding. Your knife skills are impressive, and your attention to detail while cooking is outstanding. Dinner is a big thing for me. Both preparing it, and eating it. I got nothing against the minimalists, but I like to treat myself. Nice job.

The redwoods are so completely magical. I can't believe that I haven't been to see the Grandfather Tree yet. Gives me another reason to visit the area!

I love Avenue of the Giants. It reminds me of the forest chase scenes in Empire Strikes Back, only it's beautiful and peaceful. 😃 Trees are pretty cool.
You probably didn't have the time, but I bet you would have enjoyed a ride out to the Lost Coast, even if you stuck to the "pavement." Anyone that's ridden Mattole Rd knows why I put pavement in quotes there.
If you are going to dilly dally, Humboldt State Park is an awesome choice.

I grew up in the Huntington Beach area. My dad planned a bike trip the summer before the left doe USN Basic Training. We ride CA, NV, OR, and WA. Best ride next to my year pilgrimage to Rocky Mountain Roll.
Once you get to Crescent City, take a few extra days to continue further north in Oregon!

Oh my gosh, i'm still in awe by The Grandfather Tree and the Redwood National Park in general (at least this bit of what i've seen so far). Seems so mythical and/or mystical even.

Okay so based on our mutual love of Chinese food, I'm now making it my mission to find something good in my area before you make it over here in the fall, haha. Oh wow. This is the ride that keeps getting pushed to the back burner. It's my before I'm 60 ride. I love the redwoods. A two hour visit to John Muir woods turned into all day for me. As always a an excellent video an trip.

I live near you now, but I grew up in the SF Bay Area. Pretty good pronunciation of Point Reyes! Local pronunciation is ALMOST identical to "raise", which of course is an Anglicanization. I like yours better. 😁

Awesomeness, as usual... always eat local food. You're in China town, you get Chinese food.. if you are in NYC, find a pizzeria, up along the coast in newfoundland... I would get seafood.. south Texas has better tex mex and Mexican food at gas stations than in most restaurants anywhere else. Always, eat local cuisine when traveling...
I must be really fat. I sleep in a 15F Diamond Park bag (top used as a quilt) with a Hammock Gear under-quilt. I sleep in shorts and a tee (rarely in a long sleeved tee) in 30-40F nights and I get hot. Great video! Cans of soup are totally acceptable. Trees are pretty cool!
Thanks for another great tour! I'm watching these in random order, having seen the Oregon ride yesterday and this Northern California ride today. So reminiscent of my past 2 rides along the Oregon Coast to the Redwoods Forest / Avenue Of The Giants in recent years. Call me a bit slow in recognizing patterns, but I'm getting to love your traditional Rain Fly Dance. Google Tane Mahuta a tree estimated to be 1250 -2500 years old. Not quite as big as the grandfather tree.

I have one complaint you were in Santa Cruz and you didn’t meet up the misfits at the recycle garage? As for soft? I remember listening to the motorcycles and misfits podcasts from that time it was a nightmare. I dont blame anyone for getting a hotel room
I have gone through the Redwoods on my bike twice now. NEVER disappointed with that whole area. I was going to go that route about the same time you were there, but detoured to much further inland. I got snow instead.

Trees are pretty cool. Wondering what you thought of the Honda after the Zen curves north of SF. Comfort? Ease of handling? Ergonomics? etc. Most reviews are of off-road capabilities and the shifting and traction control. Would love to hear from a well-seasoned rider such as yourself what you think of the sport-touring aspect.

I absolutely adore the PCH, we used to drive on it all the time when I was a kid in San Diego. Haven't been up that far, I want to make a ride from SD up to about San Jose/south San Fran and cut over to Tahoe, ride down to Vegas then back down to SD camping out in the desert somewhere.
