    I miss the old days with Tuska festival when they announced amazing surprises. Immortal's first performance in Finland at 2007 for example.
    2008 was a wild year. Compared to what we have now.... Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Carcass, Dying Fetus, Kreator... even Fields of the Nephilim.
    Iam glad we got Hellsinki, Steelfest and Nummirock that still bring some nice announcements and surprises. Tuska is entering completely new era.

      Festival managers always says that selling is for the better, (of course they get paid good money when they sell) but my expirience is that what is changing is that they try to squeese in as much people as possible into the festival and the line up get far more commercial wich in my opinion can destroy a festival.

    Kuopio Rock similar thing. I have seen Ajattara, Impaled Nazarene, Cradle Of Filth and Sepultura etc there. But now there is always Klamydia, Kaija K, Popeda and all the other mainstream acts. Smaller bands can be metal but its sad that 3-day festival and you only want to see 3-4 small bands.

    Metal festivals are almost non-existent here in Greece. There's a few big shows like Ejekt Festival or Release Festival, that I'd say bring something for *almost* everyone, like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Behemoth, Gojira and some more mainstream stuff, like Ghost, Slipknot, Korn, BMTH etc. But that's it. 2-3 big bands per day over the course of 4 months, on random weekends, I wouldn't call it a festival.
    That's why I'm really excited to attend Steelfest 2025, which is going to be my first proper festival (and my first ever trip to Finland), I really can't wait. The line-up is great, loads of incredible BM bands with a bit of dungeon synth and loads of passion for this extreme music. Hoping they announce Nokturnal Mortum as well...
    Anyway, great video and hails from Greece!

    This year's Tuska lineup includes many bands I'm not familiar with, so my opinion on its "mainstreampitoisuus" is not as informed as yours, but some of those thumbnails definitely give me mainstream vibes.
    My last Tuska was the saturday of 2022 and I loved it, especially the legendary Mercyful Fate. This year there's so far five bands I like, with additions yet to come, so even with the festival having gone more mainstream, there's a chance that the 2025 one will include at least one day that I would enjoy... if only it wasn't for the main reason I stopped going to Tuska.
    And that's the INSANE ticket prices! Last year I would have had to pay 140€ for ONE day. It's like only wealthy metalheads are welcome.

    I went to Tuska for 17 years straight so I’ve also seen the lineup gradually turn to more horseshit side. I wasn’t supposed to go 2024 but I got the tickets for free. Saturday main act was “Bring me the horizon”. Went to see it and drink beer, it can’t be that bad right? Boy was I wrong. Their stage, the lights etc. were impressive but their music was just complete diarrhea. I was genuinely irritated.

      @Ross-pe8iq วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RautaMetal maybe it's a nostalgia thing, but I feel like most of the stuff coming out in the mid 90s and early 2000s,when metal was dead as they say, really caught my attention as being innovative, and even some of those bands releases up until this day. Sometime in the mid 2000s I thought most of the stuff I was hearing was just for commercial success. In a weird comparison I compare it to video games after the PS2 era where it just seems to be a lot of mainly copy pasting game ideas, I can't tell the difference from most PS3 and PS5 games. And yeah, a lot of original stuff isn't necessarily good. I certainly don't hear anything special about Lorna Shore, which to me is just a dumbed down version of underground blackened death stuff from decades ago with commercial marketing.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Ross-pe8iq Well imo 70s and 80s were more innovative than 90s and 2000s, so maybe we are both biased in our perception.

    I´m from Portugal and I went to Tuska in 2015 and 2016. I enjoyed very much the atmosphere and all the people was very nice with me. Actually I discovered some good bands on stage 3 indoors (Inferno Stage, I think it's the name). Unfortunately the cost of living in Finland is very expensive for us Portuguese and I stopped going. But I´ve been following online what is going on and then watching some concerts on TH-cam when someone records it and shares it. But for 2025, even if the Tuska organization paid for my plane ticket and offered me the ticket to the festival, I would politely refuse because there is nothing for my taste until now. In Flames now play metalcore, Korpiklaani saw a couple of times in Portugal, Insomnium will probably be sent to the small stage as Swallow The Sun in 2016. The rest I don´t like/I don´t care/I think it´s not metal. I hope it's just this year because I'm saving money and I'd like to visit Helsinki once again. 🙂
