Two Centurion variants I wish were in War Thunder are the FV 3802 and the FV 3805. Both being SPGs, the former is armed with the 25-pounder gun and the latter is armed with the BL 5.5 inch gun.
If you decide to showoff any 105mm Cents, may I suggest the Sho't Kal Alef? It is sneakily better than its 8.0 105mm UK and Swedish counterparts because it gets M728 3rd gen APDS and they only get 2nd gen APDS.
When I was maining britain i Stayed away from APDS with the exception of long range engagements and uptiers, otherwise Shot mk 8 does wonders in terms of Pen and spalling
in WT the early british sabot sucks, in reality, it one tapped like 3 russian t-55's in one shot. through the side iirc, which for early sabot is pretty fecking impressive.
I'd take the paper armor of the Charioteer and the 20pdr at 6.3 over this. Using 17pdr Solid shot, something available from the Archer in low tier at 6.7 is not my idea of a good time. Hell you get the APDS round in the 5.3 Challenger and 6.0 Cent. Mk1. Using a 17 pounder against 7.7 tanks sounds like a nightmare to me. The Cent. Mk3 is not bad at all. The whole 7.7 Britain Lineup is actually great and well worth your time. (That may be a case of Stockholm syndrome but I like it.)
Every 17 Pounder should have access to APDS since they all had APDS and since APDS is modeled incorrectly and nobody plays Britan it shouldn't effect anything
Well, like someone said above in the comments, it's mostly an confirmation bias towards a certain piece of ammo... while it's true that on some tanks APDS severly underperforms (Conqueror *cough*), but that's just an individual and more complex case. Anyway I had almost never ever had a single problems with APDS shells... only when the APDS update dropped while ago, it was quite a mess, but nowadays it's mostly fixed and the rounds are working well again... It's just, the popular opinion is spoiled by unrealistic behavior of APHE shells that's basically it... I mean it was always like that towards all non APHE ammo types in the game...
@jaroslavsoukal3224 conqueror and m60 APDS are two different shell types. one is tungsten carbide while the other is tungsten alloy. Its not confirmation bias its a very real thing.

I know the difference between early and later types of APDS and I like the mechanic... now the APDS rounds are more predictable, you know what to expect and ultimately more balanced... However what I meant by "underperforming" was the shell shattering mechanic where the early types of APDS rounds lost most of their penetration while hitting first layer of spaced armor. It is a realistic and good mechanic, but sometimes all it took was to hit the thinniest layer of spaced armor... what it caused was, you were sometimes unable to pen with the Conqueror's L1G the sideskirts of Leo A1A1 for an extreme example, or eve Panther's ones... Strangely with 20pdr's it wasn't that prevalent... I haven't been playing Warthunder in like 5 months because of time issues so I don't know if they havent fixed this mechanic already but last time I played the Conq it was unbareable and it was indeed an issue... That's what I meant by more complex issue, otherwise my point stands, the APDS from my experience are a good rounds you need to learn how to use effectively like the 76mm Shot SV Mk1... it is not unusable like Turny here depicts...
I would disagree. Its atrociously armored and even as a Sniper basically useless because both the shells and the gun are not good at all. APDS is probably the worst shell I have encountered after APCR on the m48 and i would gladly remove it from the Game since its that effectless

A fox or btr will still outrun and outgun you The thing is basically only useful at a sniping spot where you can pray to pen and not Get shot at with Earlier i shot a m47 and only got the rangefinder in it before it just turned and killed me. I dont enjoy this sabot so far at all

@TurnyPlays ur right but can you play German JaPz.k A2, it's a slept on vechicles but a great sniper with thermals lazer rangefinder and 4 secound auto loader at 8.7. It doesn't have a stabilizer though
But its very sad that using iits 190 mm penetration AP round is actually better option for this tank, considering that this vehicle is 6.7 and first tanks using the same ammo are at 4.7... Very sad for the British tech tree.
this entire video is just skill issue - says ap is better when hitting ammo weakspots both rounds can pen and instantly destroy the vehicle. the only reason i could find to use ap in this entire video was the jagdpanther at 9:00 since the spalling killed the last crewmember but this can also be easily done with apds by hitting the ammo or just directly hitting the last crewmember

I think it is more of a confirmation bias thing, I haven't had many issues with apds personally.

i see APDS having inconsistent spalling still hasnt changed in the years since i've stopped playing.

You only need to do that for tungsten core shells. Once you get to alloy shells (the l7 and newer) you can rely on APDS.

US APDS is very different, as it was developed a lot later on and doesn't use "Tungsten Core" :)
