Digital note taking was a LIFE CHANGER for me in nursing school. I had bought so many school supplies along with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil and the only thing I ever needed to bring with me was my iPad and Apple Pencil lol I didn’t even need to bring my MacBook because EVERYTHING I ever needed was accessible and in my iPad.
@@JaniceStudies hey Janice , please tell the HEX code the highlighter colour that u used in Goodnotes5, both green n blue one, in my iPad its looking very dull. please help me out.
I did full-on digital notetaking for 2 semesters. One thing I could not overcome was my need for perfection and wanting it to look pretty, rather than me taking in the information. Writing digitally needs a little getting used to, and even with 2 semesters, I wasn't able to do so. This semester, I made the decision to go back to pen and paper, but still use my iPad for annotating textbooks and PowerPoint slides. A good compromise so far ☺💛
I find it hard to write neat as a left-handed person. When I'm using cheap gel pens the ink would bleed through or would get messy but with digital note taking everything became convinient for me.
@@zs2001 well I guess we have different way of writing. Just because we're both left-handed that doesn't mean we're the same. And I said I only have problems with cheap gel pens but I don't have problems with pens like Pilot G-Tec
@@harveyblackwood3563 I guess so. For me personally, digital note taking has not been as effective. I keep falling back to the good old pen and paper inspite of having the ipad and pencil. Part of the reason could be my OCD kicking in and getting me finnicky about every little detail 🤷
How is it writing digitally, I rest my hand a lot (also left handed) on paper and I can't write on whiteboards LOL and I'm worried it's just going to be an inconvenience if I do buy an iPad. :0
I recently brought an iPad Air for school and I can’t wait to use it when classes start. I’m going to be a junior in college this year and I wish I invested in one freshman year because it really would’ve helped me a lot 😭
Sorry y’all 😭 I don’t really use it for hand written notes like I intended to because it didn’t really work for me, so I use it as a second screen for my MacBook when I’m doing assignments and typing out notes.
I recently knew that when the battery runs out so fast, lower light was much helpful for saving battery!! It was always irritating thing when I do notetaking for a long time.
i noticed you didn't mention vision strain on the cons list. with having classes online , digital note taking then revising on top of our normal screen use it causes some to have to stare at a screen all day or really long hours and over time it can cause things like headache and eye strain especially if your schedule is really long for classes
Janice Studies Thank you so much for helping me get ready for school. I recently got the ipad pro and the apple pencil and since then i’ve been binging on your videos :)
I’m glad that you made this video! I personally got an ipad and pencil for high school as well as uni, and it’s been such a huge part of my studying life! I personally agree with all of the cons in this, but I still couldn’t life without mine at this point in my school career! I still do use a notebook and pencil during certain classes that banned tablets completely to be used during class though
Loved this... Going digital is one of the best decisions I made... !!! One con I recently found is that... it’s hard going back to actual paper and pen after getting used to digital... especially because the Apple Pencil is a bit thicker than an actual pen. I’m having my exams currently...which clearly requires me to write on paper...lol... and my handwriting looked so crappy on the exam answer sheet. 😂💔

@Janice Studies your videos are really useful. It's great to see you getting so much use out of your notes as a healthcare professional in-training. I graduated from medical school 3 years ago and then really worked off paper for everything, I mean I typed notes and recorded lectures but I genuinely wish I could pull up the "great" lectures that I had years ago! I teach now and I'm looking for ways to better study and prepare material (both to give to future students and organize my own notes for postgraduate exams). I hope you're enjoying your career path, it really is such a great one. I've learned so much from nurses around me over the years, give me a great nurse in any emergency! I noticed your setup with a Windows machine and it really jumped out. I've never owned an iPad. I use a Windows 10 laptop in work, with multiple displays (like your setup at 3:59) via a docking station and an Android (Samsung Note 8) phone. How have you found being "fragmented" across different operating systems this way? Glad to see Google Drive can help, perhaps the apps you mentioned work well with it? I'm just wondering if I can really benefit from the iPad if I'm not using other iOS equipment already (iPhone/Mac) but maybe it's time to leap over. (I looked at the Samsung S7+ a lot but I think the iPad apps are just going to work way smoother and better for longer... and who knows, may jump to Macbook as my personal non-work laptop is really on its last legs). Best of luck with all your study!!
I'm about to go back to school for respiratory therapy and I'm excited about digital note taking. I was always so disorganized with my notes and I hated the heavy textbooks.
The iPad + pencil is everything I ever wanted from technology for studying. Having a one device where I can do all types do notes, drawing, reading. I can wait for the day I have the money to buy one, cause in my country the prices of apple products are extremely unrealistic (seriously)
imo study youtubers overhype it. I bought one bc I felt I needed it with my life, and that if I didn't have it I wouldn't be as successful and organized as other students. best purchase I have ever made. I feel like i am more productive because when i used paper and pencil, I would be hesitant to start work (sometimes) because of the inconvenience of scribbling, erasing, pencil breaking, etc.
What Ipad do you use? I just bought a M1 Macbook base model which was a pretty good deal but want an ipad as well legit just for note taking nothing else. Do you think it is worth getting an ipad pro 2018-2020 idm or an air? I feel like if i buy the air or 11 inch i would regret not getting the 12.9 later on
@@itsbailey9856 If you are a heavy note taker, you will never go back to pencil and paper once you use an ipad and apple pencil. I am currently using the 7th gen ipad with apple pencil 1 (i bought this setup to test whether I would like it or not) but I am going to upgrade to the 12.9/apple pencil 2 because of storage issues and the screen is too small on the 7th
Looove taking notes digitally, it’s satisfying to have it so organized, and it looks so sleek! Unfortunately our textbooks aren’t always available digitally, especially since I purchase some second hand and any digital version needs a “one-time code” which has already been used at that point...
Idk wether to take them digitally or like manually? Idek if my school is gonna be obline or not. If it's online i wanna take digital notes cause we can't do that if we physically go to school. But at the same time i wanna use all the pens i have
I love it, the 2nd years in the master's program I just started gave us a Google drive full of all the textbooks we'd need first year. I still use a personal and academic planner physically, but that's because I love using stickers (digital just can't compare) and different pens for colorful planning and formatting. The 2nd years during our orientation legit said, get an iPad, you'll regret it otherwise. I'm lucky my parents would give no second thoughts to spending if it came to for our education, they're so frugal otherwise!
See I was thinking notebook and pencils sounds so much better cause that’s how I grew up with and now with this video is like I want to take notes digitally when I go to college next year well then
In terms of note-taking and annotation, I think iPad will always win. The cons you mentioned I personally dont even consider cons. But I struggle to learn information, form ideas or be creative without physical pen and paper. Because they allow more freedom. So, when I need to write creatively or write articles, I need to write on paper.
Same for me. I can learn better when writing down it on paper. But creative writing is sth I can do on both things. I am faster digital. (note: with keyboard of course).
Quick disclaimer: I am NOT trying to flex, keep that in mind. I have the iPad Air 3rd gen with the 1st gen Apple Pencil and a matte screen protector, and it has been the most powerful trio I have ever had and in terms of note taking and drawing I use Microsoft Onenote and Autodesk Sketchbook which both are free
My favorite note taking app is called notability. It’s $10 but honestly worth it, you get to keep it forever and it’s pretty useful after college too if you deal with that type of thing
This video was awesome! Would you do a video showing how you set up/start your different notebooks/folders etc for the upcoming fall semester? (Looking for some inspo) 😊
I bought the iPad Pro beginning of this year with the Apple Pencil 2 and it is amazing and so nice. I’m on my third one due to manufacturing faults but the customer service has been pleasant. Notes wise its a struggle bus since many of my teachers (I’m in high school in Australia) are not quite sure how to deal with me usually due to their high demand of paper products and submissions however for these task i usually do them on paper. Little downside but I’ve been able to save carrying around a binder, multiple books and textbooks because of this and if i was back in the beginning of the year i would definitely buy again (and warn people of COVID 😂)
i'm trying to become a minimalist so i try to keep my study area in particular as neat as possible. i love digital note taking! the only things i need are my laptop that i use for history/german/spanish/english/politics and my ipad that i use for biology/chemistry/physics and more! but i gotta say, for maths i like to use the good old pen and paper!

Looove taking notes digitally, it’s satisfying to have it so organized, and it looks so sleek! Unfortunately our textbooks aren’t always available digitally, especially since I purchase some second hand and any digital version needs a “one-time code” which has already been used at that point...
I love how organised you are!
Omg your videos are so motivational and aesthetic! It motivates me so much
Yess u finally uploaded so happy to begin binge watching u again lol hope ur doing much more better now wish u the best n stay safe plz we luv u
and one of the most important pros is that it’s such good environment friendly!!
Idk wether to take them digitally or like manually? Idek if my school is gonna be obline or not. If it's online i wanna take digital notes cause we can't do that if we physically go to school. But at the same time i wanna use all the pens i have
Hey Janice! I was wondering if you could do a video on getting your textbooks on your iPad?
God, I can’t wait to get an ipad pro!
What I love most about digital notes is that I can carry all my notes in a portable, thin device
I just saw this video....and its make my day😄
See I was thinking notebook and pencils sounds so much better cause that’s how I grew up with and now with this video is like I want to take notes digitally when I go to college next year well then
I'm planning to use digital note taking. Thank you for this video 😍
ahhhh i just discovered your channel and i love your videos so much, they’re so helpful 🥺
I clicked so fast!! Congrats on passing the NCLEX Janice!! 🙂💖
I love your setup ! It's amazing !
(note: with keyboard of course).
your handwriting is so beautiful
Quick disclaimer: I am NOT trying to flex, keep that in mind.
I have the iPad Air 3rd gen with the 1st gen Apple Pencil and a matte screen protector, and it has been the most powerful trio I have ever had and in terms of note taking and drawing I use Microsoft Onenote and Autodesk Sketchbook which both are free
Love this! So helpful!
My favorite note taking app is called notability. It’s $10 but honestly worth it, you get to keep it forever and it’s pretty useful after college too if you deal with that type of thing
Thank you, this is going to be useful for my new school year on the 14th of September!
This video was awesome! Would you do a video showing how you set up/start your different notebooks/folders etc for the upcoming fall semester? (Looking for some inspo) 😊
This is so helpful. Thank you Janice!
Yes I do and I love digital note taking
CONGRATULATIONS NURSE JANICE🥳🥺❤️
YESSSSS!!!! I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED THIS!
my ipad is coming next week
Saving the video so I can send it to my mum 🤠
She doesn’t allow you to do digital notetaking??
i'm trying to become a minimalist so i try to keep my study area in particular as neat as possible. i love digital note taking! the only things i need are my laptop that i use for history/german/spanish/english/politics and my ipad that i use for biology/chemistry/physics and more! but i gotta say, for maths i like to use the good old pen and paper!
As always , nailed it
I love all your videos!
