I've got this one being delivered tomorrow and The 87 Elliott Coors car is my next purchase. I'm a big fan of the G Body stock cars but there's just something about these Thunderbird bodies that scream racecar. I love them! Keep up the good work!
Never built a NASCAR racer before but every time I see one of these Salvino's kits and how nicely they are done, I'm inspired to build one. Don't recall whether I've seen one of the old Fords before, but I'm glad it's available.
That’s a beautiful build Chris. I’ve got a Davey Allison kit I built and never finished because the decals crumbled up as soon as I put them in water. The gold crumbled up into tiny pieces. Never did finish it. Those are a whole lot better decals in that kit. Keep up the great work. Bruce in Wv!!!
That's awesome! I never thought that I would want to build another NASCAR kit, but here it is, I want this one! Awesome video and thanks for sharing! 👊
I’ve build several nascars of that era. A few things I did different was the shift knob is supposed to by white. All the exhaust was white . And usually I painted the block blue as ford blocks were.
Maybe it’s just me, but I really love that there’s no chrome on some of the parts of this Kit. I have built Monogram NASCAR kits and between the GM and Fords, I found the Thunderbirds far easier to build due to the way their cages were engineered.
Great job ! Not too impressed with Salvinos making this kit with no chrome. I always LOVED Salvinos high quality chrome parts. (Luckily i still have some old Revell kits.)
Sure wish we could've had such good decals back in the 90's! I built the 1995 Dale Earnhardt Monte Carlo at that time, and for some reason the hood decals were garbage and all ripped appart coming off the sheet. First time that happened to me and every other decal went fine. Contacted Revell/Monogram, and they sent me new decals, however they were the updated 1996 livery decals. They were like if they were translucent; the blue squared GM logo on the hood cpmpletely disappeared once applied on the black body, with only the white GM letters remaining. I was really pissed, (and still am to this day since I still have the model) because it was the best showcase of my talents at the time, my nicest model then. But that hood decal just always ruined it for me! Hats off to modern model and decal makers!!!!
Im building Earnhardts 88 monte carlo, and Ive been following some of how you build which has helped a lot. After I had the firewall in place I could not for the life of my get the engine to fit. Does the Thunderbird have a slightly longer nose? Ill take any tips you can give
Hi Chris or other viewers, I am starting a father & son model building project over the winter. We wish to build a Nascar kit, any driver, any year. What may be the preferred/recommended Salvino kit (style) for a newer builder? cheers.
One of their 1/24 classic 80s-90s stock cars like this will be your best bet to start. Easy to assemble and stress free building. Their 1/25 scale 70s cars are also great. I'd steer away from the modern stock cars they offer until you have a bit more experience but they are phenomenal kits once you're ready for them.
wow really kewl kit loved Davey one of my fav drivers JR is doin a killer job and im surprised revell amt is not trying to get in on the older Nascars 😁🤩scooter😎ps nice build she came out sweet gotta run now and get mine😂
Beautiful build Chris now come on you know that flash just ruins the hobby lol keep posting these awesome videos we love them oh and the difference in the chassis the gm cars have the Mike Laughlin front steer chassis and the fords had the Bango Matthew's rear steering chassis just how monogram did them
I don't like asking a stupid question being i've been a builder over 35 years. Where are you getting those flat clamps at? I can't seem to find those anywhere.
Great video . Never build a Nas car kit, they look pretty good. Are you still working on your 1/8 kitt vehicle. There is also a 1/8 1966 Batmobile from the same company I think.
@@KennyHall-x2f the molds were made in 1990 for the Alan Kulwicki #7 Thunderbird. I’m making a Monogram 1992 Purolator Lumina with zero flashing and I just finished a 1983 Mountain Dee Buick also with zero flashing. That is a ton of flashing and seems more than the original kits I have made
I think the flash happens from years of using older molds , that is why the ones you have are still good , they were newer then ? Flash sucks but it's not to bad to get rid of 😊@@scottbarbour9745

One of the best paint schemes ever.
I was living in Hueytown, AL, when he passed. He is my favorite NASCAR driver. If I ever do a NASCAR race car, it will be a Davey Allison car.
I know you build box stock kits, i don't but i watch you alot you really impress the heck out of me. Good work in such a small amount of time
Wow Chris, you knocked this one out of the park! I just love NASCAR kits, vintage and new. I built Awesome Bill's Coors T-bird.
Great video Chris keep em coming I'll keep watching

Excellent build. Everything went together nicely. The kit went together very nice. You did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing.

I love those Monogram designed Thunderbird's with the Banjo Matthews rear steer chassis. I've got a few of the Monogram version in my stash.
Mr Chris WOW nice build Sir
Really great build Chris excellent job as always
Beautiful build Chris! Thank you for sharing.
Great work, i noticed the front of the body was warped when you first showed it at the beginning of the video.
Really a great build - thanks for sharing.
I have several of these kits! Watching you, I'm going to have to bust one out! Awesome job, as usual!🤩
Got this kit and the Awesome bills car today in the mail from model roundup looking forward to building em

Very nice! Really appreciate the way you built this one ! Gone too soon!
Nice job on a nascar hero
Very nice build
Premium Dude,, Premium!
Coolest color/paint scheme ever...
I so wish they would release a couple Wood Bros. cars

Brilliantly done mate👍
Love your style and build for fun. I am a box builder as well and paint colors I want.
Nice build 😎😁
says a lot about Salvinos JR models the way those decals went on so nice
I always have struggle with that rollcage !
Another incredible Nascar build Chris! I always look forward to you building them! Definitely influences me to do them!
Beautiful Build Mr Chris WOW
Chris nice job ! , what do you do with all of the models after you are done building them .
I got the older version of that car . Good build thanks for sharing
Awesome job 👍👍 👍👍 🥪🥤
Thank you! Cheers!

I believe that to be a Banjo Matthews chassis under those fords is why they differ so much from the GM cars

You're funny Chris, ever thought about doing a comedy skit? 🤣🤣🤣
Great built once again Chris. How's the (Aleene's Clear Gel) compare to Mod Podge ??
Between 50 year old moulds and lockup pressure of the diecast machine, you get flash. But, like was said, not a big deal.

Ohhh! I love sarcasm.😊
Not worth wettin ur pants about!!! Ur the best Chris!! 😅😅😅
Haha, Let Mommy make you a hot pocket while you whine about flash, lmfao! That's about the truth too Holmes.
Thats a oil cooler buddy.
Hot pockets! 😂😂
Watched Davy's dad, Bobby, and his uncle, Donnie, in some great races in Birmingham during the '60s
Yeah lots of flash. Old kit modern price
I really hope they bring out a mark Martin's T-Bird
I'm not too worried about the flash, but mom ran out of hot pockets. Now what am i supposed to do? Get a job? MOM!!!
Buddy went savage mode on the keyboard complainers 😬😅😂
Are these re boxed AMT kits ! AMT molds
I talk about this in the video but these are the 1/24 Monogram kits being reissued.
AMT is 1:25

Yes I am!
Should I throw the kit in the garbage before I go cry on the Internet about the flash?
Ha!
You know I've read posts by people saying that they smash or throw kits away for having a lot of flash or a warped part, etc.
Blows my mind.
What about the back seat?
You forgot to glue in the bsck seat!
Race car?
OOPS - my bad. Thanks Chris
Some of those molds look terrible.
Christ look at the flash. I am making a 1992 AMT and there is zero flash so yeah, that’s unacceptable in 2024
That chassis and parts were made in 1983
Hey Bud, did you ever have the former Monogram Kit of Davey’s Car?…that was a great one ❤

I spend a ton of time with removing flash on nascar kits.

Ok ... if it’s 1/24th we know it’s an old Monogram ... and the body looks more like a Buick ...
Exide is the same car
Bill Elliott nascar world record 212 mph.
