Great video!! ❤ Thanks for doing this walk-thru as this front wheel bearing on the WK2 appears to be a common issue. I laughed at 12:37 when you sped the video up to remove the bearing/hub assembly! It was like a frenetic robot was just hammering to town to release the assembly, kinda like a jackhammer! 😅 Your video makes it look doable by all of us driveway mechanics on the cardboard creepers! Thanks again and great work!
I always try and fix things with the least amount of tools possible. I want people to know it can be done without a garage full of expensive tools. I've got thick skin, it's a requirement if you're gonna make videos. I'm glad I can help, and Thank you for watching!
The axle nut should NEVER be done up with an impact gun! Get the bolt on about 95%, but DEFINITELY use a torque wrench to do the final drive home. You said your torque wrench only goes to 200, so perhaps borrowing one from a parts store or Pep Boys, etc that CAN give you the correct torque. I recently did a similar job on a passenger car and had to 'stake' the collar of the axle nut to lock it into place for safety. Does Jeep do anything similar?
Thanks for the video! The one thing I haven't seen on everyone's videos is the removal of the wheel speed sensor BEFORE attempting to remove the wheel bearing. Fortunately I did, otherwise I would have been replacing the sensors too!! Once again thank you very much for the video!
Where you experiencing vibration in the front end at high speed by any chance, is this what lead you to the wheel bearing replacement diagnosis? I have a 2014 with this problem, that’s why I ask.
So at the crucial moment i was looking for thiers a washer/spacer that goes on behind the wheelbearing..itd be good to know if its an old part from the junk wheelbearing or if it belongs thier
Yes. but there isn't much room to get a good swing at them. I've heard of people removing the entire knuckle so they can take it to their bench and give it hell. Thank you for watching!
I have an honest question... How did you know that you needed to replace your wheel bearing? What were your Jeep's issues warranting your decision to replace the wheel bearing?
They start to howl and growl. It was louder going downhill. It took us awhile to figure out that the wheel bearings were bad because we had the MT's and thought that the noise was just from the tires. Then we were going downhill slowly with the windows down and we knew that was the problem. Thank you for watching!
My car does a tick or grip sound on all 4 wheels when I accelerate after a stop. Do u know what might be ? Cv joint issue? Loose nuts? Or wheel bearings? Thanks , nice helpful video.
Well it could be so many things, from drivetrain to suspension. mounts, bushings, and just so many things. you need to have a mechanic look at it, these Jeeps have all the systems tied together. So once one thing goes wrong it starts making other parts break as well, Thank you for watching!!
@@ryantorstenson2406 it’s every time when you go after a stop, doesn’t matter if you turn or go straight. each wheel does a tick or gap noise , still haven’t figured it out
I wish I could remember where is got the torque spec from. you may be right. Someday soon I'm going to buy the factory service manual. Thank you for watching
@@mgamga9476 It was getting dark. So we had to speed things up. Everything goes back on in reverse order that it came off. Glad this helped and thank you for watching
It was pretty easy. I do live in the desert nothing was rusted. If your in the Rust Belt it's going to be harder. Glad I can help. Thank you for watching!

Just want to say thank you for making this video. It definitely helped me out doing my wife's jeep. Awesome video
Video saved me some grief, ordered that axle nut, slide hammer & a puller. I've never regretted buying tools. Thanks!
Glad it helped out that is what we are here for. Thank you for watching.
Finally someone that got the socket size right. Tons of videos saying it’s a 36mm.
Thank you for watching!
Gained a follower on this one. Don’t listen to the downers, as long as you know the smart way, going with the hard way you’ll always learn more

Only thing I would’ve added to your video is to apply anti-seize to areas where corrosion is common to make it easier to remove in the future.

They do make open end wrenches, for those tight spaces...just sayin.
howdy! nice work man!
Thank you. I really appreciate it. Thank you for watching!
Do you think it would work if I loosened the hub bolts about a 1/4 in. and then tapped them out a bit?
Yes. but there isn't much room to get a good swing at them. I've heard of people removing the entire knuckle so they can take it to their bench and give it hell. Thank you for watching!

If Ota during turns, it's the needle bearings in your CV Axle

What's the deal with the axle socket? Is it a 31mm or some kind of specialty socket?
I ordered the specialty socket. I'm not sure if a regular one would work. Thank you for watching!
Great video
Thanks!
Specs I read for hub bolts are 78 foot pounds.
you are correct. Thank you for watching!
Do not do 178. They will snap
I believe the hub bolts are 78 ft lb👍🏻

@@terryfamilyadventures yeah I am going to do mine bought a Haynes manual they say for 2011-14 78ft other years a little different
Video was very helpful. But why did you show everything you did than when it came to the wheel bearing you kinda skipped ahead. Thanks for posting.

Could you use a bearing puller to grab the hub and press in on the axle or will that damage something on the other end of the axle?
Yes you can. we had one on hand just in case, but we were trying to show it with the least specialty tools as possible. Thank you for watching
Dobry materiał, dzięki
I'm glad you liked it, Thank you for watching!

Slide hammer boss. Work smart not hard.
I know, I know. I was purposefully using stone age tools so people wouldn't be afraid to do the job. Thank you for watching!
Wish it was this easy on northeast cars lol
I watch a channel of a mechanic that works in NY I'm glad I live out west where things still come apart after 10 years. Thank you for watching!
Yea dude no
