thank you so much for this. i was looking to replace it myself. now quick question at the end you mentioned " Program with odis" can that be done diy with a ross tech vag cable? is it only steering angle that needs to be done or something else too(the module recoded or something) ?
Does the clock spring behind the airbag, if the number is different after the replacement or if the mechanic did not program it, does it cause heaviness in the steering wheel?

Yes. If you don’t. You might get power steering rack failure sooner then usual.
