I intentionally live like a minimalist. I lived the life many would only dream of. In 2008, I lost my job and most of my 401k. That was a difficult time for me. Those I associated with were not around because they had similar issues. It took me five years to recover. My 401k never recovered because I closed it out to live. I never really talked about it until 2020, when I saw the direction our country was going. I prepared myself for the worse because I went down this road before. My worse fears came true. I am in a better place now than 2008. I learned a hard lesson that one can lose everything in a matter of seconds! Even as a minimalist, I go through the things in my home to decide if something is worth keeping. I buy only items which has multi-functions. Believe it or not, I am actually happier now with my life than before 2008.

I always liked living a minimalist life so I can spend time doing things I like.
Like reading 📖, writing ✍️ going to nature.
My belief is to be kind to all including animals.
Being vegan 🌱 is the best decision I’ve made.

I started really living after my kids left home. However, after my husband died I had a choice to make. Continue exploring or stay at home grieving days gone by. At 70 I decided to start over. I'm an explorer and living the life I was intended.

I’ve come to the realization the only thing that’s going to create the life I want is to stop clinging to the parental idea of “being there” for the kids because they continually create drama and def aren’t “there” for me. 60 is your Saturn return and I def feel like I’m starting over.

💁🏽‍♀️ For me, almost in my mid 50s, I am a wife & a mother, but remembering I am also an individual. I learn more & more to be ok with my personality. I accept that I am more introverted & have what people call "quirks." I strive to keep & remain in peace. Peace in my mind. Peace in my heart. I meditate in prayer alot. I am truly ok with my own company. I am much more of a minimalist than I ever have been before. I enjoy very little material items. Those are the ones I spend $$ on. I don't require much anymore. I learned to let go of alot. I am currently on a journey to forgiving myself. Forgiving myself for many decisions & things I said, that I regret.

Using my time to get knowledgeable about food prep, storage, sustainability. I am still a beginner but I have became debt and mortgage free as I knew where things were headed so used every penny I had to pay things off. I have a large community of like minded now and we work together to look at ways to not be part of this toxic world. I use no big pharma, only natural products. I am trying everyday to change the way I am and live for the better. Just start somewhere and keep going. Sending love x

      Stop watching the mainstream news.
This includes TV and Newspapers, it’s all
      Fear based lies!
Look after your health with organic food and
      products, support local farmers.
Spend time in nature and find 3 things a day to
be grateful for. Lastly, the government is not your

I was about to post, but then stopped to read the comments first. I can't believe how many of us are in a similar boat. I am wondering when I'll ever get to be the real me. I always put my husband and four kids' needs ahead of my own, way ahead. And now, at 61, I'm still doing it. Instead of working full-time to try to save some money for retirement, which is what I'd like to do for a few more years while having real vacation time (so I can occasionally travel) and sick pay and all the rest, I still work part-time with no benefits because I also have to watch my two-year-old granddaughter (she's going to have a baby sister soon, too). My two younger kids both moved out last year but now find themselves unemployed. I have a feeling at least one of them will have to return home (again). I've an autoimmune disease that causes a lot of pain, but I'm still in the kitchen every night making dinner for me and my husband and cleaning up afterward. I do all the shopping, planning, banking, cleaning, cooking, babysitting, and 95% of the other household chores. I don't know if I'll ever get to be me (or allow myself to be me since I'm always doing for others). This is probably why I watch Connie and similar TH-camrs: I live vicariously through them and hopefully gain some strength to one day get to the other side.

    - It actually hits me heart in a hard way. I've been thinking I need to "find" myself BUT now I know another way of seeing my life.
    - If it's true (and actually there're no right or wrong, I just need to live the life I feel RIGHT) - Now I now how to live though. My path is clear more than ever.

I love your voice, it's like your in your 30's... Thank you for sharing this video it helps me realized and understand, that yes maybe as a mother we sometimes forget about ourselves, we focused so much to our husband, to our children... But if we feel something missing it's not too late to find it in our own way...

Thank you; it certainly seems that honesty with oneself is the first premise for beginning to choose to live; any pretense robs others as well as ourselves; scary to step off the carousel, but surely Life is there to continue to Open...

Yep, if only life was so simple........
I know nature will and does help.
It's the beauty God gave us and I believe just for that reason.
Nothing is better than being still in nature ! And still so much is still so beautiful!
We all have our journey and need our " be still " time.
Even if it's only here and there.
I hope your journey is what you want it to be and you find the peace in your soul. It is what we all should do but still neglect to do most times.....unfortunately.
I too am needing to do the same.
Looks like you have found a beautiful spot to get away. Soak it all in and enjoy. I'm a bit jealous I have to say😊

At the 9:00 minute mark I noticed all the wise faces in the rocks to the right on the screen!! Amazing energy and spirit in those beautiful rocks. What a perfect back drop for your inspirational chat. Maybe they were whispering the wise words of living life on your own terms and you’re finally able to hear them!🧡 I know I wouldn’t be able to hear your message if I haven’t already began my own awakening journey. Blessings to you and I look forward to seeing more snipets of your international travels.

Can't say that I ever saw some rule book claiming that you no longer can spend time taking care of yourself after years of taking care of others. In late stage life after all of the kids have launched and are doing well, you owe it to yourself to rediscover yourself and pursue new adventures.

    • @ConnieRiet

Hi Melinda! Great question. Luckily, my husband and I share the same "big" picture for our lives together. However, in 19 years of marriage that has not always been the case. By digging in our heels on what each of us wanted, it nearly ended our marriage. In the end, we have learned to communicate (don't assume your partner knows what you want) and COMPROMISE!

    • @FaithfulServant1967
      @FaithfulServant1967 ปีที่แล้ว +2

COMPROMISE is truly defined as finally understanding and loving one another enough to bend in growth, yet not breaking under such pressure. Waiting for the blossoms of the future to come with such brilliant colors and smells to bring joy to the hearts within such COMPROMISE.

Hi Connie! I just love watching your peaceful videos! They’ve been very helpful as my only son graduated high school and joined the USMC last summer and my fiancé and I are now empty nesters downsizing and and trying to do the whole intentional living way of life. Right now it’s ok de cluttering things because it’s stuff we don’t use or need or clothes that are too big for me because I’ve lost 125 pounds. But the thought of getting rid of baby blankets or pictures or sentimental stuff really just makes me want to vomit. TMI? How’d you get past this? Oh and where are you in this video?? It looks like it should be Utah but you said you were leaving the states. Do you mind telling us where your at from now on? Thanks! Have fun and stay safe!! ❤

Everyone is free to choose what they want. For myself, choosing what makes me happy is all well and good....but it won't bring me fulfillment. If I die without representing something that stands for service to others...I won't actually be happy. So I have the human side of me that naturally responds to joy and excitement and enjoyment like everyone else......but having tasted that I can't find a way to maintain it in a world with so much suffering without feeling the need to address it.

You share your feelings, emotions and needs with your husband, if he is not on board right away, just wait a bit, he will probably be on board at some point. It's important to be patient...timing is everything.

You tell him honestly what you imagine for your life and see what he says. Don’t try to convince him. Just be happy and begin to move in the direction you want. Eat better, get to bed, go for walks, get the Calm app and do a 5 minute meditation all in front of him. Invite him to join you. You will lead by example. My husband took time to process things and comes around slowly. I put a lot of TH-cam videos on growth on the TV in the room where we both are and he picks things up by osmosis. Today he told me that he wants to live a life together where we grow as human beings together and as individuals. That’s progress

I was enriched and confirmed by the comments till I saw several horrible, cruel and disgusting comments of people who have missed the point. I try to remember that we are all on different paths and just wish they would see that also. I hike alone most days and find myself a loner in an outward location while on my heart filling small farm I created with my husband 15 years ago. Time to start tweaking little by little to fit my future, more open path as I'm 66.

Work eight hours, sleep eight hours, have eight hours of fun. The dilemma can be time managed. I can't have it all. I have to time manage those precious 24 hours. Not too selfish, not too altruistic, but balanced, time managed. I have to do what I don't want to get what I do want. I can't save the world but I can save myself. I like the Buddhist view, Creator God is in the breath, part of me. Everybody dies. How many people really live their life fully? Good luck to us all. Good luck.
