    Yep, Western Comics are very similar when it comes to reading stories. However, with ongoing titles there are story arcs so could you just jump in at the start of a new arc sure you can. However, because these titles and characters have 50-90 years worth of lore so it only peaks curiosity. I think these days because there is so much lore the best thing to do regarding comics is to research specific stories or specific writers because it is usually by the writer where the complete story is. A perfect example for me personally is The Fantastic Four. They have been around for 61 years now so of course it would be hard for me to read everything. However, in the early 2000's there was a writer named Jonathan Hickman who wrote the book for about 40 issues and that story can easily be read on its own. You can easily find out about the main characters anywhere. Manga is something I personally have not read but, I do enjoy Anime and those are pretty much exact adaptions plus or minus a few things. Some of my personal favorites are Azu Manga Diaoh, Princess Nine, Ranma 1/2, Love Hina and The Melancholy of Haruhii Suzumiya.

    I'd say manga genre wise our tastes are pretty similar. I also predominantly read josei and shoujo but I'd say I read BL and seinen second most then shonen. Though my taste in josei is less the romance stuff and more the fantasy or idol series with pretty guys aimed at women. Things like Karneval which is a fave. It's so nice to see a booktuber talking more about shoujo and josei manga though!

    Great video, I've read a shit ton of manga but mainly shōnen and Seinen, while I've read some classics Shōjo and Josei like Sailormoon and NaNa, I haven't seen a video with specific recommendations for those target demographics. Also Fullmetal alchemist and the promised Neverland are shōnen

    The whole assault-on-trains thing is something that unfortunately happens in real life in Japan (referred to as chikan).

      There’s a word for it? That’s awful. Is there a system in place for this in Japan that the government does or anything?

    • @SuDaixi
      @SuDaixi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ByMadisonFox It is so common that basically they just installed women's only train carts to try and mitigate the problem instead of catching the perps, because "men will be men". Like 90% of cases don't get reported and 90% of those that do, don't ho anywhere. Yay for toxic masculinity and your government basically telling you that all men are rapists and it's just their nature. And after that the public basically blames women who get groped because "well she didn't go into women's only cart so she must have not been too against it anyway". So victim blaming and misogyny are the take they decided to take. Tell men that they are uncontrollable horny beasts and tell women they should just take it if they don't find a way to protect themselves. We love such a supportive government. Really caring about their people's mental health there.

    NONE of these are beginner friendly. Especially fma and the promised neverland. Some of the shoujos were okay for a beginner that may come in with an open mind, but the last thing a first time manga reader needs is a senien with a f-up plot. I'm also assuming these recommendations aren't for boys cause of the genre, which literally translates to young girl and woman btw, which focuses on the girl's pov. All in all these are good intermediate level suggestions and some are good even for veteran readers, but horrible for first timers.

      Princess of Paperback is primarily a booktube channel. These may be good manga recommendations for people who often watch her, because the types of stories are similar to the types of books she reads. So if someone is a subscriber of Madison's and likes the types of books she reads, these may work for them :)
