I am a freak who has gotten to this boss while doing Obsidian + Shelless on my first playthrough. Yes. This means I die in 1 hit, and yes, I died *so many times* getting up to this point. (I really want to get those trophies out of the way. Eat me.) Anyway... Since backstep is so broken on iFrames, I can dodge his charge and tail attack easily in the beginning and use mechanical spike to stun him; rinse and repeat until the Whirlpool phase if he doesn’t summon minions. (Yes. I did have him summon them prematurely once. Don’t ask, this game is really jank.) Problems I have: -His waves kill if I don’t roll through them fast enough, don’t know why they even do damage; it’s bull. -Minions will tag me from off screen while I try to kill one in the whirlpool phase. -Boss heals itself for every minion I fail to kill. -Having minions in general is a lazy excuse for creating difficulty. -AND THE BIGGEST IF ALL... The Boss’ stunned, falling animation will kill if the head touches me. That’s bullshit since I need lock-on to see his attacks and my attacks will drag me toward his head. WHY DOES THAT DO DAMAGE TO ME!?!?!? On top of all of that, getting hit out of your spike recovery animation sucks since you can’t harden right after. I just die if I spike and his head or beak touches me. I can forgive the minions, but the damage from the falling animation HAS TO GO. RNG deaths are not my fault. I should die because I made a mistake, not because I stunned the boss.
Hammer and Chisel distance attack stuns him immediately. The fast attacks fills the bar for the next stun attack (maybe faster with Salomon). Repeat...
It’s honestly not that bad. Beat him on the first attempt, only took a few minutes. The mobs only take one hit and are easy opportunities for health because parrying is really easy. You don’t have to do the vortex thing either. I let him heal up and by the time he was going to use that move again, he only had 2 hits left.
What a great boss design. Reminds me at Dark Souls II at its finest. Have a boring boss that is alone to easy? Just slap a lot of minions that make the fight annoying and provide unnecessary artificial difficulty. *Cough* Rat bosses in DS II *Cough* Also give it a damage sponge *Facepalm Great video though with a thorough explanation of the bad mechanics and how to tackle them!
Tipp for the adds while using Harrows Sword. Kite them all together, then make the R2 Charge and Harden while pointing your sword towards them. They will jump into your sword and die easily.
To deal with the waves dodge through and run to doges the next. For the adds run away until they all line up then harden with the hallowed sword heavy attack. Stay hardened and the adds run onto your sword. Be prepared for a long fight.
At least you can skip the final boss in Remnant by just creating a new world. This bastard kills any replayability I originally thought the game was gonna have because you HAVE to fight him
This was the weakest fight in terms of design in my opinion. My favorite was twice born. That was the hardest fight imo. He punished you for backing off with the crossbow, which is pretty unique in this game.
In the first game it was so easy yo defeat twice born though since crossbow bolts don't break your hardening. In NG+ you receive damage while hardened so maybe it's more difficult, haven't done it yet
i sincerly enjoyed the game up to this point, until it took me 15 minuets longer because i didnt realize the vortex fucking healed. i really really hate this boss, its not even the hardest by far
3 tips that worked for me, playing Hadern: 1) use the adds, one by one, to parry and heal yourself back to full health 2) use the invincibility frames you gain when switching forms with the axatana to dodge different attacks (such as the waves, the jumping attack from the boss, etc); that way you will always have harden available and, with the right skills, will be able to refresh your stamina to punish the boss constantly 3) running R2 with the axatana is a good move to spam against the boss
If you have the recollection of death attribute you get another life after killing enough of the other smaller enemies. That is if you died once already
They went through the checklist of how to make a disliked boss in a soulslike. Does the boss constantly run away from you? Check. Insane amount of adds? Check. Damage sponge? Check. Annoying instant death mechanic? Check.
What I had to do to get past him since I was constantly getting killed by the adds was since the adds died in 1 hit regardless of weapon upgrade level, I would attack the boss with my main weapon, then when the adds came out I'd use the weapon effigy thing to pull out the hammer and chisel and kill the adds before their jump attacks are up, or corral them all together and use the H&C's AoE blade-flurry type attack to drop them all at once.
They should've removed the clones if you pledged in obsidian mode. These are absolute bullshit. Even if im on his ass. He still summons them without doing a animation. I know they take 1 hit. And if you line them up just right you can 1 shot all of them. But there's just way to much going on to have to deal with these guys hitting you off screen. Especially when you die in one hit.
Face him for the first time today.. With little health and no healing.. I brought his health so low, and then he made that whirlpool and healed.. I just allowed him to healed cause I feared once I get close it's gonna drag me in... now that I know I can go close he's dead later when I start playing later.. plus I spent all my glimpse and buy shit ton of health items.
This last boss design is the worst. I have no idea what's the reason behind this design. It's just a manifestation of artificial difficulty. It's not hard by challenging players to be better, it's just pure tedious. Not fun to fight, no interesting moves while has a lot of BS mechanics that don't go well with the gameplay plus ridiculous long fight. This is by far the worst thing about this game and it literally ruins my whole experience about this game. Honestly disappointing.
It is dogshit design, easy dodges, spamming ads that run in a pool while fighting you and you are also affected and moving with a shit-ton of ads after unaffected by his attacks whaling on you while he does. Made harder by ads that are ridiculously spamming jumping attacks especially during waves. Beat 5th try, died to an ad while I killed him at the same time so had to go again after the fourth.
Tbf, the other bosses were shite too. But they were shite because they were too easy. This boss on its own is also easy, but the minions, whirlpool and rng (minions + waves) makes it difficult. I beat all other bosses in my first attempt but this boss took me 7 attempts. Died twice from unluckily standing in the middle of the whirlpool as it opens up, twice from minions ganging up on me, once from my actual mistake and once on my first attempt because the environment glitched out and had an epilepsy inducing strobbing light effect.
Beat it on my first try, i decided to stay on NG to collect any missing lore or anything else i might have missed. Didn't know i have to defeat him again to go to NG+ that's some bullshit right there.
@@unimonkey2186 I'm afraid so. very strange decision on the devs part. I just assumed that the last boss would stay dead and you could extract his gland and ascend whenever you wanted.
It is just me or am I keep sinking inside that pool of water? Everytime he knock me with his tail and swipe my Hendrim sink lower and lower into the ground. Lol . Wtf. This arena is janky.
Reminds me of Furi. A perfectly good game ruined by a completely shit final boss. I played Solomon so I relied heavily on parries throughout the game and every other boss was parryable except this one. Then there's the shitty Dark Souls 2 design philosophy of cramming adds into a fight to make it artificially harder. Also you can get ragdolled easily and unlike Dark Souls you can get hit while knocked on the ground then juggled to death. The fight is also extremely buggy. On one attempt he got stuck behind an invisible wall on the far side of the arena and we couldn't reach other so I had to reset. On another attempt he rolled over me and I fell through the floor and died instantly. Plus his animations are super janky and so are the hitboxes, especially compared to the quite solid ones on the other bosses. I was gonna do a second playthrough with a new shell and weapon but after knowing that this bullshit is waiting at the end I said fuck that.
I play Solomon too. The boss itself is pretty easy but the minions and whirlpool annoyed me. I got unlucky twice, standing right on top of the whirpool as it appears. Insta-kill out of nowhere. Also ruined by the environment glitching through the cutscene and my first attempt. There was an epilepsy inducing strobbing light effect on one side of the arena. Luckily it was fine after I reset. I hate boss fights that spawns minions. Just a cheap way of making the boss seem harder.
I died twice in a row to that whirlpool because I was standing right in the middle of it when it happened. Was so confused by it. At first, I thought he cast that whirlpool at where I stand, so the 2nd time, I run away but I still got sucked as soon as that whirlpool appears. Guess I was just unlucky to be standing/running into the middle of the whirlpool right when it opens. Had to look up guides just to avoid it like an idiot...
The clones made no sense and didn't add anything flavorful to the gameplay. There are cases where 'minions' can be good. Example of this is Rom from Bloodborne, but even that's hitting a line of making a boss more tedious rather than actually difficult. And what made Unchained, or "DarkFather" (?) difficult was that it was all artifical. Most of it is based on unintentional bugs (constantly spamming wave that even on a build like Tiel it'll just dry your stamina out) and because of the janky design, there are cases where he actually sends you THROUGH the ocean floor and instakill you, and not by fair standards. Not to mention his HEALTH. Everything else had easy health bars, but then he becomes a damage sponge. Dark Souls/Bloodborne have 'fun' bosses. This was just tedious and, well, 'not fun.' Other than to collect everything, I don't find the bosses to have any ideal replay value, especially Unchained.
This guy was pretty simple for me actually. I beat him on the first attempt surprisingly, with that being said, this was the longest boss fight out of all them for me at least. The ice boss was the hardest one for me.
Funniest thing about the boss is the instakill tornado that you have no clue about when the boss do it for the first timeyour like wow... bs mechanics right there since if he does it right under you while fighting mobs instakill lol
This happened to me twice in a row. I legit thought he was casting the whirlpool directly on me, so here I am looking up guides on how to avoid the whirlpool. I guess I was really unlucky to be standing in the middle of the whirlpool area twice. Easy fix to this is to first show a visual of the whirlpool opening up before making it swallow the player so that players who are unlucky enough to be standing right on top of it can have a chance to run away.
Actually this RNG is kinda XCom like!!! And I have all fights so far spammed bunch of minions which actually kill me, NOT the Boss! Minions kill me! :POK, I will try gid gut... But it is bullshit fight. EDIT. Yeah I killed this mthfckr!!! And fight was SUPER easy AFTER 2 ways of those minions!!! In 3rd phase there were no minions and I killed Boss with zero problems!
