    Hi Richard, just wanted to write a quick thank-you note.
    Our heater stopped working. I opened everything up like you did. I don´t know what I did that worked, but something I did helped. So luckily now the summer is saved for our children :-)

    I just bought a heater and after two days stopped working. After sawing your video I got an idea. Since mine still has warranty (but I did not want to send it back now). I removed thebottom hose, and let out the water. After that I shaked and gently tapped the heater hoping that litthe ring will drop. I put back the hose, and started the water flow, and it is working again. Thanks for your help! :)

    Great tutorial. I dismantled and cleaned the heater (even descaled the coli element) but still no heat. I noticed there's corrosion around two resistors (51 ohms) so somehow water got in the top chamber at some point. I wonder if it's beyond repair or just resoldering resistors might fix the problem?

    I have also found out through pure luck if the cabinet the heater is in warms up too much due to sun the heater wont work either due it thinking the water is up to temperature. Keep it ventilated. Currently 34 degrees here and it stopped working. Soon as i lifted the lid for 5 mins switched back on. Another tip

    Thanks for the video. We've had our heater for, four to five years. It has stopped working. We tried the same method as your video, but to no avail. I am thinking it is probably a circuit board problem. We bought ours for around 70 pounds, but now a new one will cost us closer to 200 pounds!!. We have a solar cover for our 10ft ftame pool, but we live in Northern Ireland, which is not renowned for its warm clinate!. I might have to bite the bullet and spend 200 pounds on a new one.

      Does the circuit look fried? Trying sticking the float to top and test it in a sink. The price that intex and bestway want at moment is sick. I paid i think 80 pounds. There tapping on 239 pounds on amazon. Low stock i bet. Profiteering out of desprete people with children that desire a warm pool. Ill buy another at christmas when the price is back to sub 100 pounds. Might check other brands

    You did save me from buying a new pump. Didn't think the floater was the cause as it was still moving but it does need to move very smoothly or it won't work. The video could be shorter and there is no need to show the electronics part. Also all you need to do is unscre the tiny top screw and unscrew the top part. Then you can easily lift up the entire heating element.

I dried out the heater in the hot press for 2 wesks and it worked! BUT has now tripped again. How can the water be getting into the electronics? And is there a seal I can buy to stop it?

    I have 2 of these. And have both worked in the past, Had them both apart floats totally free and clean. I have no red light, fuses ok its so annoying. Its like they work for a season you put them away for the winter and then next year, dead!
    Would it be possible that there is not enough electric current to make it work? I have used an extension lead, surely it would work just overheat and trip wouldnt it? I am getting nothing at all. there any other heater that actually works well with the bestway pools?

    • @richsmif
      @richsmif  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had this before. I forced my float to top with some electrical tape. Worked. Try it in sink like i did see it light comes on. Sink water ensures element dont heat up too quickly. But always make sure there is water in it hefore turning on pool wise. Also makr sure thr extension lead is rated at 3200 watts. These bad boys pull 2900 watts EACH. Concerns me you have 2. Unless there each on there own extension lead.
      I have dedicated garden electrics rated at 40amp tp pull the power for multiple heaters. Plus heating for other stuff.

      Temperature outside? I find if it too hot and unit doesnt have alot of ventilation then it can turn off as it thinks water is up to temp. Check there is a little red light on the rcd. If not then its power related. I have wrapped a little abit of plastic tape under the float to hold it up before now. Other than that dont know.

      Shouldnt say it as its potential dangrous so be careful. But useful as a test. Use some tape and tape the float to top. Test it again. Ive had this once. Remember the float is a safety device if no water present it wont heat but at least it will trigger the red light and youll know if float is still semi stuck. Had that before. I taped electrical tape around thr bottom and put little clear cover back on. Float doesnt move at all but least it will switxh on. If it doesnt i genuinely dont know. If it does work then youd need a new float to keep safe. Or always ensure water is in it. Might buy you another summers use of it. Good.luck

    • @richsmif
      @richsmif  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't. Its hard wired. But if its getting hot and tripping its tripping for a reason. Either the extension lead is not up to rating required to run it or the circuit your plugged into has too much on it already. Remember these heaters draw 2.8kw to 3kw. Try an uprated extension or consider a dedicated outside garden circuit. Rcd are sensitive for a reason. If it trips its protecting you from disaster so id look at how your running it rather than bypassing safety device thats doing its job.
