- In this episode of Crime Watch Daily: A doctor is accused of doing the unthinkable before delivering a baby. Plus, the story of white boy Ricky, a former FBI informant who ultimately served serious time.
The nurse had a responsibility to report this to an administrator.
I'm a lawyer and, yes, yes they did.
100% agree. That RN probably had enough experience to deliver the baby.
Sued 9 times for malpractice yet employed by the hospital ....

That dr is not the only one to blame! Any nurses who have worked with him before and knew that he had pulled this should be prosecuted right along with him! And the people who allowed him to settle instead of being prosecuted should be held accountable as well!

We have friends who are doctors. They NEVER drink alcohol while on call. After watching this, it occurs to me that any doctor/nurse, etc., who is on call should have to submit themselves to a breathalyzer test when reporting to work, just in case. Heck, that should be mandatory whether reporting 'on call' or just for regular shifts.
That RN knew what she was doing. She knew the family was recording. She was getting evidence on the record. Questioning what type of liquor he was drinking...where...she was gathering info to protect herself. Now where the RN went wrong...she didn't stop the line. The doctor was negligent. The RN had a duty to stop the line when something was wrong. They could've called in another OB to come in...or the ED doctors or on-call hospitalist would have had to deliver if it was too late for an OB to arrive and tap in.

@@angelcasillas1014 times are changing! Dr.s are human too so we nurses have learned and are teaching baby nurses, how to stand up to them when something is not right with their patients. I work in a teaching hospital so the younger you can teach them to respect nurses the better.

Emotional distress by itself isn't grounds for a successful lawsuit very often.
My youngest grandson was born via c-section and yanked by his arm causing his shoulder to do this same thing
I was on the phone video call while my son-in-law held up the phone for me to watch... the screaming from the pain from my grandson was horrifying... the nurse snatched my daughters phone and ended the call... 2 hours later... while on a video call with my daughter, my grandsons arm was limp and if you touched it he screamed. We had no video proof... nothing could be done.
I pray that this family gets compensation for the pain and suffering of this beautiful child... that Dr should be fired
Have to go back and read those risks. I'm sure it says nothing about assuming the risk of the baby being delivered by an intoxicated doctor.

Passing the buck always comes into play, when folk are desperate. They can’t hide his past behavior, neither can they erase the content of that video. It’s one thing to say someone did this or that, and question whether or not it’s really true. But you can’t ignore or turn away blatant evidence.
Wow, the doctor is saying its the mother's fault! As an on call doctor, you are NOT allowed to drink or even drive more than 30 mins away from the hospital during on call hours! WTH

Nurses who try to report impaired doctors will get fired. My sister worked in a newborn nursery and reported a pediatrician who did an l p on a baby smelling like alcohol. She got transferred and demoted.

Ana did herJob, she had to cover every bases and ask to clarify: at one point in the video the aunt is smiling along to the joke (coping mechanism).
Ana had to play devil's avocate to PROTECT this poor family so no idiots can use it against them later!

The first rule of being on-call... Dont drink during your on-call shift. Even if you work for the power company, you dont drink if you're on-call. A doctor of all people should know that. That mother and baby put their health in the hands of that man. How despicable. Shame on that man. I hope that boy recovers, but the whole situation has had to have been traumatic for him and his family. Its just heartbreaking and so unecessary. Sending love to the family.
That doctor… doing his job drunk while making disgusting comments… He puts lives at risk let alone doing his job intoxicated in unsanitary conditions, which has resulted in multiple cases of life altering outcomes that otherwise would have never happened. I’m glad she is suing. Her family deserves compensation. And the doctor deserves to lose his license, for the public’s safety.
Wow!!! I can’t believe something like this happened! Definitely a blessing that the baby and moma are alive today. He needs to lose his license and the hospital needs to pay her millions.

As horrible as it is that he was drunk. They could easily have told the staff that he was not going to deliver her baby. I had an emergency C-section and the doctor on-call for C-sections for my midwife was one from a practice that had just left because he was completely inappropriate on one of my visits and I said absolutely not. He is not touching me and they woke up the next doctor in line, so it’s completely possible to do it. You just have to say you’re not touching me so afterwards doesn’t really it for me.

As a physician, if she hasn’t sued the hospital yet, the hospital should have a very clear policy on shoulder dystocia as it is an obstetric emergency. This should be clearly announced and a subsequent series of actions needs to happen in series. I’d sue the hospital too. That’s disgusting.
The doctor should have been removed from practicing a long time ago. His cold dismissive behaviour to Ana was disgraceful yet again after that drunken display in the delivery theatre. I found the whole thing to be disturbing actually. He didn’t scrub up, he kicked his shoes off, he didn’t change into sanitised scrubs nor provide the mother with a sip of water! I remember my doc giving me ice cubes 🧊 to suck. I’m so angry that this lovely family has to live this legacy…but the baby is the real victim here. So sad. 😢
That doctor shouldn't be practicing anymore.
I hope they sue him and the hospital blind. If there was a complication the mother and baby could have died.

Hospital. They were aware he had other complaints against him, yet kept letting him work at the hospital. Him as well because he had a duty to not work while under the influence of alcohol. The nurses too for not reporting him, then and on other occasions.

There was an underaged girl police hired to be their "detective" you all call it snitch, and when they were done with her, they dropped her ID on the ground "snitching" to the drug dealers and she was murdered. What happened to police having a dangerous job? No! It is the young kids they hire who are in danger.
I’m thinking this Dr (her OB/GYN) was paged because she went into labor, but if you’re unable to, due to drinking at a bar, then call another OB 🤦🏼♀️ That just proves he drove to the hospital drunk too!!! Giving birth is such a vulnerable experience. I was very lucky with my first midwife, and very unlucky with my second.
It makes such a huge difference when you’re scared, and in pain, to have someone professional looking after you.
I really feel for these ladies.

That drunk doctor is completely disgusting. I blame everyone from the Nurses, Hospital and all. I had a similar issue IDK if the Dr. Was drunk but she was mad she had to leave her dinner date to deliver me and Things went downhill from there.
The family should have spoken up too, why was the daddy? He would have put a stop to that?

The nurses should have called the supervisor on duty who would hopefully follow policy requesting the drunk doctor to leave the birthing room, and replace him.
This is an emergency they could get the standby doctor.
Hopefully he would be sober.
