Hey Maliek! I use powedirector to make youtube video's of my daughter singing for her channel, I'm a 53 yr old car mechanic, not a video editor but all these tips and tutorials are helping me big time! I really enjoy using the software and l am learning all the time! Thanks man you're a hero 👍👍

Thanks Maliek! This was something that was NOT set up by default! I needed something as I was all ready to ditch this program, as my workplace asked me to produce a promo video for when we reopen again, And PD for the first real time kept hanging and crashing constantly. Forums were no help, (loads of other people just saying 'me too'. One suggestion was to uninstall GeForce experience.
I'd even downloaded a trial of DaVinci Resolve and was about to learn from scratch how to use that.
Following along with this video, my GPU was running at 1% before the adjustment, so it would make sense that with all the clips I had to use, and High quality photos, it was a lot to expect the CPU to do on its own.
Another great tutorial, perfectly explained again, I bet a LOT of people never knew this one. Appreciated as always.

I'm glad you and others seem to find a lot of value in this tutorial. Yes, many people don't know these steps need to be taken to help get the most out of their GPU. Crazy what the program can do when your PC is setup with the best possible configuration. feel free to link this video to the thread in the forum if you think it will help others.

This was great. Thank you for putting this together, as it looks like a lot of tedious work. I am wondering if this setting will allow users to be able to “watch” the rendering in video playback speed without audio like you were able to do with earlier versions of PowerDirector. The most recent versions of PD it seems you only get a jumpy preview while the video is rendering, and I liked being able to view the rendering as a near-final quality check to see if all the elements appear okay.

Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. Now my PD can use Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti for editing and rendering. Editing with effects feels smoother with Nvidia. Also, rendering HEVC h.265 mp4 is much faster than the integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 gpu of Ryzen 7 4800H (mp4 1080p 30fps 48-minute video with 3D effects: rendered in about 50 minutes with Radeon, but about 30 minutes with GTX 1650 Ti).

Great video .. is the GPU used during video editing, adding effects, previewing etc? That seems to slow down a lot as you add more effects. So, this part is dependent on CPU and RAM then? Please clarify as that would be great to unnderstand if I need a RAM upgrade or CPU upgrade. Thanks a bunch, MR. GURU of PD!

    • @PDU_Tutorials

You need more RAM and a faster processor. Your systems RAM modules help your processor work more efficiently. The more room the processor has to store data in that temporary memory, the more things your computer can do at once (more effects, preview video, etc.).

Was thinking of upgrading my GTX 1060 6GB .....BUT .. PowerDirector seems to be hardly using much of the GPU at all!
In rendering a 5 min 1080p video with a couple of effects the usage of the GPU core is only 10% and the GPU video engine on average is about 25% .. that's it!
It is ALL CPU which keeps going fulltime at 95-98% throughout the rendering. My hardware acceleration shows up as nVidia CUDA so no problem there and I got all settings ok.
Some GPU is being used obviously but not enough to warrant a high end card beyond what I got.
Wondering if it this generally the case or do you need to be working with 4K and a lot of effects for the GPU to kick in much more?
In any case, seems pointless for the 1080p platform which is what is the most common out there right now.

And on CPU, which is better to use, AMD or Intel. On Premier Pro, Intel is optimized so no Go for AMD threadripper. But I like PD more than Premiere pro, I just hate that my client's are always asking for premier pro. TIA

    • @PDU_Tutorials
      @PDU_Tutorials  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't think any is better. I think they all have pros and cons. It is up to each user to determine which is best for him/her. Why does your client want Premiere Pro? Do they see your showreel? If so, they would (and should) be hiring you based on your work not what program you use. They should want what you're able to deliver. Once after a client viewed my showreel he asked, "Do you use Premiere or Media Composer?" I asked him "Were you impressed by my showreel?" He said "It was awesome." I asked him "If I can meet or exceed your expectations based on what you saw in my showreel would it matter what program I use?" He said "No." I said "I'm going to use the program that will allow me to meet or exceed your expectations." That was the end of that conversation.
