    I choose the blue and white because I just got my nails done last night and they match 100% with the winter wonderland scene on them! Winter white and blue are my absolute favorite because it goes beyond the Christmas holiday!

    It was amazing! I was excited! Both are beatiful...Can you say how many% of vanilla in your fragrance oil? ...or what fragrance oil is it?

    I choose chocoalate. It was oddly satisfying watching you texture the top of the chocoate soap. So soothing. Thanks for sharing.

    What's the amount of coconut milk you pouredbinto the coconut oil?

  • @Mysterio619Style
    @Mysterio619Style 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I have a question she said that she was using coconut milk but instead she was going to replace the water with the coconut milk. So does that mean the exact amount of grams or ounces that you have in the recipe you would just replace with coconut milk. I’m looking for a coconut milk and coconut oil only recipe. I would like to later make my own version with mango and cocoa butter but trying to find a base soap of just coconut milk and coconut oil is very difficult because I don’t want to add all these different oils that everyone else is using.

    Is there a particular coconut milk I should use? I've read some of the coconut milks have other ingredients even though it reads 100% coconut milk. Thank you for sharing this process which I've looked a several video's on Coconut Oil Soap and yours I feel comfortable using. Again thank you for sharing

    My coconut oil soap always cracks, I even put it in the freezer, last time i soaped it was close to 80 degrees, the time before i was at around 125 both cracked, any suggestion you could offer me? Yours look lovely

    • @mandarinlollipop
      @mandarinlollipop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find that soaping at lower temps and then putting it in the fridge or having a fan on a low setting blow across the top once the sides start warming up seems to help. Also, I've noticed that using silicone molds sometimes makes the cracking worse, and that wooden molds lined with freezer paper seem to absorb the excess heat a little bit better. (At least from what I've seen. I haven't conducted any experiments or anything, but I've found that coconut oil soaps made in wooden molds seem to crack less often.) If they do crack, you can try fixing the crack with a bit of rubbing alcohol and plastic wrap. Spray the soap with rubbing alcohol and lay the plastic wrap over the top and you can kind of "rub" the crack back together. Hope this helps! 💖

    I have been experimenting with different oils, when I made soap with
    only coconut oil. lye and water, the soap lathers really good, but it
    has a sweet powder smell, I was hoping for no smell, it kinda makes me
    cough. did I do something wrong? or is that the way it s supposed to
    be? thanks

    They both are gorgeous, how quickly can you use this soap, is this a Castile Soap that would need long cure? I would choose Roses. Although the chocolate is Gorgeous.

    • @kelleyspartiatis5323
      @kelleyspartiatis5323 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Castile is 100% olive oil. Coconut oil needs a regular cure time. It's hard but it wears away quickly.

  • @GodzHarleyGirlStudio
    @GodzHarleyGirlStudio 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was fantastic, Sarah!! Do you know how long it usually takes to trace with the coconut oil? I'm not sure how long to approximate it. I love your simple designs, not meant to hurt, but the more other's "busy up" the recipe, the longer the whole process takes. I've got many health issues and the simpler the better but I still want a nice design, like yours. The longer the process, the less money you make when getting tied up on style and design. Thanks so much for sharing this!! Hugz, Tree

    How can I make this recipe into a coconut coffee scent? Should I just add fresh ground coffee or is there a coffee extract that would work better?
    Is this soap gentle and moisturizing enough to use on sensitive, eczema prone skin?

    • @debbieescobar6267
      @debbieescobar6267 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lou Kout i have never heard of a coffee extract. Coffee grounds or coffee added as the water will unfortunately lose the scent during saponification. There are many coffee fragrance oils sold by suppliers (Rustic Escentuals, Natures Garden, Brambleberry, Mad oils, etc). You could blend coffee and coconut FO’s. Everyone with excema does not respond to things the same and soapmakers legally can make no medical claims. I have it on my face and soap makes it burn, even my own luxurious soap. I use micellar water instead.

    I really want to make coconut soap,but I tired once,and it dried my skin 😩 any suggestions? virgin coconut oil and what about the lye? I can't find the purity %😕

    • @mandarinlollipop
      @mandarinlollipop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Cila Nad! Most of the time, if you use coconut oil at a rate of 20% or more in a soap recipe, it can be drying to the skin. However, with this recipe, the superfat is bumped WAY up to 20%, so there is enough non-saponified coconut oil that is helps to make a gentle bar of soap. The lye I use is food-grade and is 99+% pure, according to my supplier. Thank you so much for watching! 💖

    I made this HP with half coconut oil and half soy, and added a lot of coconutmilk. The mixture went nuts! It saponified very slowly, I needed to add lots more oil to neutralise the lye. Thick thick thick when it was hot, I had to stomp it into the mold, but when it cools off, it becomes liquid. Any ideas to the why of that?

    • @kelleyspartiatis5323
      @kelleyspartiatis5323 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's insane. Why did you add more oil? You should have been using the exact amount of lye to oils ratio.

  • @stephied2002
    @stephied2002 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Both are beautiful👍😁... How long will it take to cure? And would you say after 24 hours of it in the mold you cut it or sooner? Id love to try my hand at a coconut oil soap😁

    • @mandarinlollipop
      @mandarinlollipop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much, Stephie! I like to cure my coconut oil soaps for at least 4 weeks before using them. For this kind of soap, I cut anywhere between 8-15 hours. Too much longer than that and you run the risk of having your bars crumble. As soon as the batch has completely cooled down, you should try cutting it. Thanks for watching and have fun soaping! 💖

    This the first time ever I am trying to make soap and I chose your recipe (had to tweak it a little bit) and it was going so well until I mixed the oil and lye solution together D: ! I blended it too much and it turned into a thick paste!!! I had to scoop it out to put it into the mould... Now I am scared to see how it is going to turn out :(
    I also didn't heat up the oil as my coconut oil was already liquid, could that be part of the problem?

    Another lovely video Sarah, just wondering so whatever amount of coconut milk you measured out,is the discount from the water? So if you were not using the milk you would add whatever amount that is back as water? I hope I worded that alright, the chocolate bar got my attention it looked good enough to eat.

    It burns yet it’s used for soap? 💁🏽🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @BeckyS
      @BeckyS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nena_Xo making soap involves a chemical process.
      Cold process soap (as in the video) is made through combining lye and oils. They then go through saponification, the end result is soap. One these bars are cut they need to sit for 3-5 weeks before they'll be safe to use.
      All soap is made this way. Once the process is done the soap will be safe, but the lye is VERY caustic before and during the process. That's why safety is so important when making soap.

    • @mandarinlollipop
      @mandarinlollipop  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nena_Xo Yup, Becky covered it. Safety is SUPER important when making soap (as Becky said). Until it completes the chemical process of becoming soap (saponification), the active lye can burn. However, once the saponification process is complete and the soap has had time to cure, it's wonderful to use. Thanks for watching! ❤️
