Thanks Mark, you just made my husband feel I’m not a lost case 😂 He literally said : “Damn he is worse than you are concerning bags and notions….” Yay, that means i can buy more……lol 😅
Oh yeah, concerning my addiction, I’ve several of those bucket bags they sell at Stephen & Penelope in Amsterdam, 2 zipped bags in Harris Tweed and a little one in yarn with a Norwegian skull pattern (lol)…. That’s it for the bag that stays mostly at home, smaller ones can be thrown in backpacks…. And i also have a Muud Stavanger to bring out big project at a terrasse, or the park, or even when travelling. Muud got excellent bags but, i think they might not be easily avaible in the US, (or are they?)
Thank you, Mark!! These are really helpful, helping me be more organized. I am one of the bag makers, many thanks for the boost to my business - and a boost for my fabric addiction...😻 It gives me many ideas for making them better too.
I would also love a video about how you prepare for a trip. Choosing project(s) to carry, what do you pack, did you came across any problems with your needles at the security etc. ❤
OMG Yaaaasss! Thank for that suggestion! I haven't traveled a lot, especially lately, and would love to have crochet/knitting advice for any upcoming trips I hope to take.
I've watched a few of your videos now, and I'm so glad I did. Your relaxed style, interesting and personal stories, and articulate, well-paced speaking are a pleasure to watch. As to your bag collection, I found it anything but boring! I've been on a lifelong search for the perfect bag - project bag, camera bag, handbag... and I was fascinated by all the details you shared about each bag. I look forward to more of your content!
My husband was a frequent flyer to the ER with nosebleeds. Petty thief that he was, he’d arrive home with anything not locked up a the hospital. Once he brought me a long and narrow lasting bag with a solid lasting ring around the opening. It was a bag for nosebleeds and nausea. He thought it was about the size and shape of a skein, and asked if I could use it. That barf bag became my favorite project bag. The dynamics of the limp bag with a stiff rim was that the contents never fell out. I kept it in the car with my favorite scarf project. I would take it with me whenever I expected to wait. I’d through the bag on the floor or ground, and the skein was kept clean. I replaced the bag every year or so. The hospital changed vendors, and the new bags were not at all sturdy. If you think this is silly, you just haven’t discovered barf bags yet.
Thank you so much for your video, it touched my heart when you mentioned the bag that you were teased about. My youngest son was teased too, even by his older brother when he got a beautiful Hugo boss bag he had requested for his birthday before going to college. He loved that bag for many years.
Love love your videos! I watch each one at least twice. First just to listen to you while I knit, 2nd I stop and watch you. And, as a knitter, I’m sure you can appreciate how rare it is to actually stop knitting and just sit and watch the television! You could do any topic and I’d be thrilled! You could even go thru your kitchen junk drawer and I’d be fascinated! Thank you for what you do!
I watched every second and thoroughly enjoyed this! Finally I’ve found a channel that is relaxing, engaging and shares the passion of knitting in such a lovely way 😊 thank you. What a magnificent selection of bags!
You are a man after my own heart! I am a huge fan of project bags - well, any kind of bags, actually! I make my own, so that i can customize them however i want.
I know Joji and Co and Thread and Maple have stunning leather bags of all shapes/sizes that are great for carrying out and about as they look like regular bags, not obvious knitting bags and are sturdy. But I don’t think they have lots of organizational attached pockets though, they are separate. The luggage bags are stunning!!! I’m like you.. I’m afraid to use/wear things I’ve bought and I need to get over that as you have!
Hi I just discovered this channel maybe an hour ago and I watched two other videos including the one where you went over the notions and I have been knitting for just shy of a decade and I am still discovering notions but I have been looking for a good needle storage solution after realizing my favorite single points had gone missing recently. All that said I am enjoying these videos so so much. Inlove the length as I am also working on a new pattern that I’m having to make a few notes on and long videos mean I don’t have to mess with the app as often and can listen and work. This is an amazing channel wish I had found these videos sooner. ❤❤😊
Hi Mark. I found you about 5 months ago or so on your "Where do I fit in?" video, and I have absolutely resonated with you since. Your vibe and company is such a joy and I absolutely love your style and colour choices for everything from yarn to bags to decor. My favorite bag that I own is my Leudes bag, they have multiple styles, I enjoy my over the shoulder bag, it holds a LOT. When I was living in my tiny studio apartment and crafting in the corner, I liked to joke and say that it was my "craft room in a bag". I hope it's a new suggestion for you to see! Cheers and much love, a fellow Ohio-an, crocheter, and recently newbie knitter. -S.
I loved this video!! I’m a total bag lady so I found your collection very interesting and enjoyable. By making your videos and sharing your life, I hope you have found a loving, supportive community here. I really like all of your bags and would have ranked the woven basket in the top 5 😂. Until next time! ☺️
Mark your jumper is absolutely beautiful. I don’t usually wear jumpers but think I will knit a cropped version for over a dress. Your bag collection is also very nice. Thank you for an excellent video.
20:25 need to finish so you can use the bag for another project 😊 Haha ya know because it’s cute and wants to see daylight again 😊 have a beautiful day
14:13 Thank you for this perspective about ‘the right fit’. As a self taught new knitter I have been struggling with this issue and really wasn’t able to figure it out because I don’t have access to putting my hands on the different products
Hello Mark. Thank you so much for this video. It’s nice to find a video showcasing project bags for knitting (or crochet). I absolutely fell in love with your spinning loft hikers bag. If I could have reached into the screen and snatched it, I would have. Except that would’ve made you sad. I was able to go to the etsy shop order that bag, as it was still being offered. It arrived today and I’m so pleased. Thank you for your thorough review. It helped me decide. And how lucky am I that that hikers fabric was still available. I did message and let her know that I saw the bag on your channel. 😊
I am new to yarn craft in particular crochet cant knit to save myself. I find your videos really relaxing full of great info especially in what to look for in hooks and bags. Please keep rambling on as your voice is soithing to this migraine addled brain, I am intractable (permanent migraine it never stops) as such need soothing content and I look forward to your content
A man after my heart. I actually devoted a whole Pinterest board to Bags/make-up bags and use them for different purposes as well. Glad to see I am not the "only one" It was a delight to see you open a bag filled with even more bags! New Sub.
Thanks for the idea of a large cosmetic bag for all of the interchangeable needles. I found something similar and managed to corral all of mine in it. A big win!
Hi Mark, I enjoyed your video very much today. I too have quite a collection of bags I have gathered over the years. I love having something useful and pretty to carry my projects in when I go out for the day. I also enjoy having unique little zip ups and canisters to hold my notions. I started collecting beautiful beaded jewelry-like stitch markers a few years ago and have quite a collection. I find there are a lot of artists on Etsy making all kinds of interesting stitch markers. I also collect unusually decorated metal, Altoid mint size, tins. They come in handy for so many different things. I love to both knit and crochet. I have been crocheting for about 45 years, and started knitting about 15 years ago. I enjoy your channel very much, you are very informative, calm and relaxing to watch and I look forward to each new video.
When I moved to Oregon from Montana, I had to buy my bag a bag to protect it from the rain! I got a huge waterproof tote made of recycled billboards and it hasn’t been a perfect solution (a bag in a bag in a bag) but I’m surviving. Re:Designed Projects 10 is my favorite project “bag” and it checks most of your boxes - if you still haven’t found a favorite!
I love it when you talk about your life, past and present. I also love your field sweater! How cute is the color addition with the mohair on the top motif and on cuffs! Very good idea!
The colorful needles are knit picks. Thank you for your storage ideas I will be making some changes to my current storage choices for my needle sets, hooks and notions. I also knit and crochet.
This is so well done I love the no trying to be cute and funny and no distracting music so nice ... but where do you keep the cords ... and how? I have Hiya Hiyas for about 4 years and I cannot believe how distorted the cords quickly became. Surprised to hear you mention that because I thought it was me, like I was careless or something? They have curlicues and dents and rough places and got that way EARLY ON. I actually iron them with a medium heat iron from time to time to get the kinks out ... Maybe i will buy the CHIAGOO since you say they have much better cords? Love how you narrate and bring a peaceful vibe to your story and demo.
I keep most of my sock projects in double layered cotton fabric sacks I made (i'm a quilter, too). My sweaters are in a series of backpacks (the school style with proper straps, 1 of which was my college bookbag) and totes, mostly 2nd hand, lol. I like backpacks for them; generally sturdy, zippers, lots of pockets, comfy shoulder straps, enough space for all 9 gazillion yards I need for my own sweaters, lol. I get back to all my projects sooner or later. Usually later, lol, Well, I never finished Dad's sweater; he died suddenly several years ago and I gifted the yarn to a friend who knits squares from some charity or other.
I have tons of bags, big and small. Choosing a bag to carry a project in for a trip to my local yarn shop or to visit a friend is fun. Rotating the use of each bag is of some importance to me. Letting a bag sit at the back of a collection makes me feel that bag would not feel loved (you know, don't all bags have feelings!?! LOL) so I try to use all of the bags I have regularly. I have canvas/leather bags, fabric drawstring bags, bucket bags and many other types. The variety of bags breaks up the monotony of using the same bag over and over. Thanks Mark for showing all of your bags/totes. You have some really beautiful ones and the variety is marvelous.
October 11, 2024: New subscriber. Okay, what a brilliant ideaa for the small jewlery box that you first showed. This bag is a great idea with the markers especially when you are goinging between WIPS. This video has come in a great time for organizing my crochet, knitting and on the go applique makes.
I recently found your channel and I am really enjoying your videos. Your voice is soothing and your appreciation for all things fiber arts really comes through. Thank you for sharing with all of us! ❤
I’m addicted to knitting bags too. 😂 My latest obsessions are from Jojo & Co. Jimmy Beans Wool carries a really great selection, including Redesign and the Della Q Maker’s series.
As someone who also sews, I learned that I can’t use project bags with a dark lining bc I can’t see anything lol. I now use light coloured linings. My favourite which I currently use is the firefly project bag by Noodlehead. The pattern has two sizes (bigger one is tote, smaller one is a project bag) and I always take the small one with me wherever I go. It’s similar to the one from 28:18. I don’t like use project bags with zippers bc the yarn can snag on them. My mom told me I should try making more bc they’re just so nice. I also like the fact that they can remain standing.
I truly enjoyed watching this nice long story-filled video, and it helped me get through more of a finger-knitting blanket for a BFF mom with cancer. OMG best BIG CAT!!! Sending all the pets I may to the kitties.
I love your video, got tons of organizing ideas! Btw the knitpro needles are not bamboo, they're birch (I happen to know because those are my main set of needles and I'm obsessed with them haha - I'm the other way around, I started with stainless steel needles and used those for decades. I switched to wood because they are less slippery so it is easier to keep the rest of the stitches on the needles so I don't have to think about that when I'm knitting faster.)
H love all your bags it is fun getting more. I. Knit crochet and Tat.n Tatting is a very very old art enjoyed looking at all the bags. Have a great day loved it all.
You can take one of your large totes and turn it inside out and sew the bottom with a seam going perpendicular to the bottom seam. It will make your bag have a larger flat bottom.
So excited to find an Ohio creator! Definitely gotta check some yarn stores out in ne Ohio. Great excuse to go up to the Cleveland area. This video was so relaxing to watch no crochet too
Do you ever watch Jonathan's Days? He buys a beautiful canvas bags with leather straps. Durable and they travel well. Hide and Hammer is the brand. I also love Stitching in the High Notes. Joanna is a retired opera singer who now makes and sells bags for crafting - I've bought a couple for gifts and they are quite well made. As a knitter, she knows what we need and while not next door, she is in Sacramento so by our standards out here, that's 'local'! LOL - pretty kitties by the way.
Hello from Toronto. I like my bag by 65 south which has several pockets and stands up on its own. I added a button and loop for a closure which helps to keep my tabby Emma out of my knitting. I also like bags by Atenti which are elegant with lots of pockets inside. For travel I take a Sportsac bag as thy zip up (I usually avoid knitting bags with zippers as they get caught in my yarn) and they are washable.
Your field sweater is stunning! The motif at the top has a burnished feel. Love it. I Just discovered you. I live in Berea and you popped up recently on TH-cam. Could I have talked to you at the Around the Table booth at Wild and Wooly?
I'm so thankful for this video bc I thought I was the only one with a bag quest! And yes, I totally agree with shopping local to pay it forward. Thank you for sharing!
Javelina love! There are a lot of great Javelina bags here in Tucson. Pretty sure you could find one at any of the Parks gift shops (Sabino Canyon comes to mind, where I got mine years ago) or the Desert Museum. Thanks for sharing your bag stash!
So glad I’ve found you. Great video and descriptions about your various bags. I too have a large assortment, but was immediately on the hunt for a couple you showed. Thanks
Wow Mark those steamer luggage bags are so beautiful! Wonderful video as always, will be keen to hear if you ever discover the perfect project bag as I am eternally searching for mine! All love, Pippa xxx
The streamline luggage is very cool. One of my most favorite bags to carry my knitting while traveling g is the LLBean zip top boat and tote bag. It’s very roomy. It Has a separate snap section inside that’s big enough to hold your pattern without folding it plus notions. I also love that the straps fit over my shoulder. For me it’s a great trade project bag. For everyday knitting at home or my LYS I prefer to use baskets. I have a nice collection of Longaberger baskets I’ve resurrected from the dust. Your field sweater is beautiful. Love the two tones. Happy knitting.
I don't know if you have had this suggestion but I would love to hear from you about traveling with knitting. You travel a lot and would love to hear how you take knitting on planes with you and stories that might be good learning experiences.
Oooh. You have a Kånken. I have a lot of them. I’m Swedish and might be buying them second hand (online mostly) a lot… gotta try all the colors and models… as a plus size person I agree the classic (that you have) is a little small to comfortably carry on your back. But I use the 17” laptop version and then it has the back pocket (which I’ve never used for a laptop but it’s full of all my other stuff I always want to bring and don’t want to take up space in the main compartment. For knitting I use a Kånken mini. It fits great inside the bigger ones and are very roomy for their size. Kånken Big is also a great fit for me to wear. Kånken 15 works. (No I’m definitely not nerdy about my backpacks… =)
Kånken is such a classic, coming from a Finnish person who uses Kånken and other Fjällräven backpacks (a High Coast Totepack and the bigger Räven) a lot and all the time! The only problem with Kånken is during summer, those straps are a bit uncomfortable when wearing a sleeveless shirt. By the way, you can use the grey pad to sit on when out and about! Good project bags can be a bit hard to find, my favourites are from Søstrene Grene, originally a Danish shop and web shop that sells all kinds of lovely things for the home, crafting etc. I also have one Muud project bag (Saturn XL to be precise), really lovely! At the moment I'm dreaming of a RE:DESIGNED project bag.
@@HannaVilkman i have a Räven too. It’s nice but has too many pockets for me and too small main compartment. I walk everywhere and the bigger Kånkens are great for grocery shopping. They also have padded straps so probably more comfortable to carry =) I use mine all year rounds and summers work fine too for me.
@@RainandGiraffes My Räven is the 28 litre version, really handy for office days when there's laptop, knitting project, maybe another pair of shoes etc., for dance practice with the stuff needed for that and of course grocery shopping. I guess I need to get the additional pads for my Kånken's straps :)
Love this!! I was a bag girl before I was a fiber crafter- always loved a gift that came in a cute bag- but combining my love of both has me obsessed with functional bags and this video is amazing! I am always on the hunt as well- probably one of my most researched queries. Would love to know more about your yarn socks/ cozies and other solutions for keeping cakes intact when throwing them in bags. That's still a work in progress for me. Thanks for the unique and fun video- your content is so relatable!!
No you’re not putting out boring content! I enjoyed your bags. We have 2 of the same bags. I love my little cork zip pouch and pink monstera make up bag. We also have the same style brown canvas bag with leather side handles. Great minds think alike and like the same bags!
lol. I also search for the best project bags. But I’m no help here. My goal is to have the smallest bag that can hold my project. I knit sweaters the same size as yours and I would squish them into most of the bags that you rightly point out are far too small. For a long time I used a dellaq sack that my lys gave me free when I bought a bunch of their hand dyed yarn for a sweater. I recently upgraded to their small cross body bag. Which I carry 3x sweater projects in 😂. I do have a large bag made my polkadotcreek (I think) that’s like a carpet bag that I use for blankets.
SO I started watching your channel a few days ago and I love your channel I skipped around a bit at first now i am going back and watching everything in order - love your wedding video being and Episcopalian (Cradle at that) I love what you did for your husband as a gift and the story of how you were able to keep is secret! I'm a knitter primarily but just got given and entire crochet project that was not joined together and I need to learn ow to finish it.....also I just friended you n ravlery and my name is Marciamsk (I changed it on ravlery)
Nice run down. I have a Heidi West bag that I love for larger projects. She prints her own fabrics and this one stays open, kind of like a Dopp kit or doctor’s bag.
I enjoyed seeing all of your bags. I remember buying a Namaste rust colored bag back in the day. It was circular and tall and had all of these tiny needle pockets all around it. It was a remake of a vintage leather knitting bag. Anyway, it started to just peel and crumble and make the biggest mess. I want that kind of bag! In leather.
I tend to knit at home so I use a lot of baskets. But I'll soon be commuting on a train so I need to figure out my knitting bag situation - this is a perfectly timed video haha
Loved this tour of your bags. I love bags and storage stuff but limit the number I buy so was thoroughly enjoying your tour! I noticed you love cats (me too) and wonder if your ring is an homage to cat paws.
This video is so fun! I love seeing other people’s ideas. The waxed bag with the ice cream coupons had some panda stitch markers or something in the bottom. Just in case you were looking for them. 😉
I’m a minimalist I guess, I can’t see the point of a dedicated project babe 🤷♀️ though there are many to chose from. I like a silky inside of a bag so projects slide in and out easily. I tend to use grocery chain reusable bags but seldom have more than 2 on the go at the same time, only have 2-3 WIPs at the same time. I love the red lace cords - they make knitting a joy and really make magic loop do-able. Yes this was a long video but I like listening to you and it’s easy to knit to a longer video. And - OMG - you met the Pope 😱. Wow. Love your cats too and that you love them. Good humans love pets 🐈⬛🤩
I’ve googled everything I can think of for the first blue tag along bag. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Sorry I didn't have the link to that up! ☺️
Sold out!! 😊I do like the bright colors

YES!!! And we need to know what the sparkle is. As you said, it is 2024- I think we all need a sparkle sweater
An hour long video about a bag collection? Yes please!
We need a knitting while flying anecdotes video! ❤

I love all sorts of bags too. Lots of mine have projects in them and I have a Harry Potter backpack for work 😊
I love that you include your orange kitty in your intro. ❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this deep dive into your bag obsession! And loved meeting your sweet kitty at the end 🩵 Thanks, Mark!
Not boring at all! Love that luggage!
Awe, Big Cat has such a cute face 🥹🥰
I WASN’T going to watch this video, and didn’t click on it when I received the notification. BUT! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
another fab video. You are a natural at this x
Another great video, thank you Mark! You have a lot of fun, practical bags. 🫶🏽
I’m addicted to knitting bags too. 😂 My latest obsessions are from Jojo & Co. Jimmy Beans Wool carries a really great selection, including Redesign and the Della Q Maker’s series.
My favorite large project bag is a Vera Bradley Vera Tote. It comes in two sizes and the larger one is perfect for my largest projects.
Those are great tips for bag makers! I'm excited to look at that noodlehead pattern! 🙂
I truly enjoyed watching this nice long story-filled video, and it helped me get through more of a finger-knitting blanket for a BFF mom with cancer. OMG best BIG CAT!!! Sending all the pets I may to the kitties.
I use a leather drum style MUDD bag and a matching leather pouch for stitch markers, cable needles ,scissors ,stitch holders .
Immediately subscribed, I hate knitting but love your personality❣️
I love kitty cats. Yours is so cute.❤😊
You can take one of your large totes and turn it inside out and sew the bottom with a seam going perpendicular to the bottom seam. It will make your bag have a larger flat bottom.
Fun to see your collection!
Great video Mark. I like seeing what's available on the market. I'm saving up for a Thread and Maple leather bag.
My perfect bag is the redesign project 10 bag totally geared up for knitting projects .
The Hill Country Weavers is in Austin, Texas. You would enjoy it if you come to Texas
I'm so thankful for this video bc I thought I was the only one with a bag quest! And yes, I totally agree with shopping local to pay it forward. Thank you for sharing!
Wow Mark you came to England ❤❤❤❤❤ xxxx
I have a set of the rainbow bamboo interchangeable needles and love them. Mine are made by Knit Picks.
Javelina love! There are a lot of great Javelina bags here in Tucson. Pretty sure you could find one at any of the Parks gift shops (Sabino Canyon comes to mind, where I got mine years ago) or the Desert Museum. Thanks for sharing your bag stash!
11:30 I needed that info. Thank you
So glad I’ve found you.
You have great taste. Beautiful organizational bags, totes, yarns and patterns.
Love your bags. Thank you.
They also have padded straps so probably more comfortable to carry =)
I use mine all year rounds and summers work fine too for me.
@@HannaVilkman mine might be the 20L not sure =)
I think the pads could be helpful. In the bigger ones it’s sewn on. =)
Great video! I too went to a TN Governor"s School. Is that where my bag addiction began?!
Love your videos!
But I'll soon be commuting on a train so I need to figure out my knitting bag situation - this is a perfectly timed video haha
gorgous knitted sweater! It looks perfect on you.
I have just purchased the Re:Designed Project 37 leather tote! I will let you know how it goes!!
Love love the cat bag for crochet hooks , and basically love everything your showing and sharing with us thank you xxxx❤❤❤❤
NOT BORING AT ALL ,LOVE!!!!!
