Coming back to rewatch all your seaglass videos after watching your new one about the seaglass make a long! Excited to be able to make a sweater from my stash and not have to go buy a sweater quantity of new yarn (though I love buying new yarn lol). I could probably make seaglass sweaters for my entire family with how much yarn I have 😅. Feeling nervous about the thought of weaving in 5 million ends though 😬

I have seen those somewhere - Perhaps Fruity Knitting did an episode on it. I don't know anymore but dang they are lovely. I've been looking into perpahs making them out of thrifted flannel shirts - I want to donate them to the shelter for Domestic Violence - most folks there have left everything and experienced trauma and it seems like a little thing they could cuddle for comfort. I also read that they are nice in police stations - kids who land there have usually also experienced trauma. I also knit simple hats and headbands either for the folks in the shelter or in the thrift shop to sell to people visiting Joshua Tree NP - you just can't imagine from Los Angeles, how incredibly cold it is up here in winter. So they sell well and that supports the shelter. Sorry this is so long - I get carried away. Another lovely video.

Good timing! I had already bought the cardigan, hat and pullover patterns but hadn’t cast on anything yet. I was looking for a portable project for an upcoming journey which will last most of October. I think the hat will be perfect for this, and I can delve into my already huge sock yarn remnant stash. Toward the end of the month, I might even need to wear the new hat! If I like working with this type of color work, I could cast on one of the garments when I get home.

So excited will research patterns soon 🤗 there's a beach in California called glass beach that I went to as a kid "only about 60 years ago" 😅 but it was so pretty covered with all this polished glass this project will bring me fond memories ❤ thank you for sharing your honeymoon with all of us

I can’t express how THRILLED I am to see this video! Since you mentioned it, I’ve been gifted some beautiful medium grey cashmere/merino yarn and have absolutely obsessed over what colors to use with it. So much so, that I’ve panicked and haven’t even begun to look! Thank you so much for detailing about color choices and how to swatch! I learn so much from you, and your voice “soothes the beast”. 😅

As someone who likes bright colors that often make it look like, as my sister says, "a crayon box threw up on me" I've become pretty inured to people cringing at my yarn. I tend to assume it's color, though (and that's fine, I've repeatedly told my mom and sister that their color choices are dull and boring); the idea that someone else is so disapproving of the brand of yarn for a random person's project is so weird.

I sent Wendy one of my handknit Shetland sweaters which she made into a bear for me. She lived on my bed. Then we got a puppy who was left "unsupervised" while we went out for a few hours - we came home to a bear minus her heel. I knew it had been too long since I'd sent the sweater to be made up so there wouldn't be any fabric left so she's got a gauze bandage wrapped around her foot.

Still on your honeymoon? Have fun! My honey and I just visited our relatives for ours because we'd moved to Ohio only 9 months earlier and we missed everyone. I guess I know someone else who isn't doing the Yarn Discovery Tour this year, lol. But the UK Yarn Tour must be even more fun. Does himself go to yarn shops with you?

What an amazing idea and what beautiful bears! I can't stress how much love that they are symmetrical.

This will be my first MAL and it really fits the bill because, in a concerted effort to reduce my stash, 2024 is my "Do Not Buy Any Yarn" year. I have a LOT (gross understatement) of wool and am keen to use up my scraps. This MAL will really help!

I’ve followed Burra Bears on Facebook for a while, and it was a delight to meet Wendy through your video!

I have made two Sea Glass pullovers, and one Sea Glass hat. One sweater and the hat were Berroco Vintage baby yarn, and the other is Anzula Squishy yarns held double with Silkpaca (four strands to manage - clearly I'm a glutton for punishment). My only advice on the pullover (I haven't read the instructions for the tee and cardigan) is to add short rows either in the ribbing or just below it. If you do it below the ribbing, it could be a colorwork wedge that does not go all the way around the neck. Enjoy the make along!

🤔 hard decision which to make. Do you know if she has a book with all her sea glass designs in or only individually. When I make up my mind on which one I am going to do I will be signing up. My plan for september was to frog a sweater (I don't like the fit) and finish 2 sweaters, so I can use the yarn and leftovers in a Sea Glass Cardigan, together with other leftovers in my stash. I intend to knit the cardigan in October. And now I watch your video, perfect planning for me 😍. Looking forward to all those swatches in september, and to the fun we all will have, during this MKAL!
